items were delivered intact, and the movers were courteous, so those were highlights. here is where the problems started. the movers promised to show up with 2 trucks, to make our 25 mile 1 way move in 1 trip. instead, they showed up with 1 small truck, which only fit half of our stuff. so, they needed to make 2 trips. you would think that they would not have charged us extra for making the second trip, since they didn't show up with the right tools for the job, right? wrong. their extra trip also put us past our checkout time for our storage unit. my father-in-law had to borrow a pickup truck so we could do that portion of the move ourselves, since we were out of time. also, since we wanted to get charged as little more as possible than we originally budgeted for, we ended up having the movers just dump our stuff in one room of the new house to cut time further. after i complained to the owner about him not showing up with 2 trucks and charging us an extra full round trip of labor, even when none of this was our fault, he gave us $40 off. that only covered a fraction of the extra charges for their 'extra time'. all he would've had to do to show up with the right tools in the first place, was rent an extra truck from U-haul, Ryder, Budget, etc. problem solved. why make the customer pay for your lack of holding up your end of the bargain? i know that they could have rented an extra truck - why? because one of the movers accidentally dropped a rental contract for a moving truck (from another company) on the floor, and i picked it up to give back to the mover. in conclusion, they could have done us right, but decided not to. they stuck us with the bill for their mistake. not recommended. read more
