I am absolutely appalled at the overt lack of care and concern demonstrated by this practice, and any parent currently using, or considering treatment at Ellenton Pediatrics should be aware. My son has been treating here and only here since he was born almost 8 years ago, and has been seen routinely every three months for the last 2 years as outlined in his ADHD treatment plan. When I called this morning to schedule, I was told that my son had been expelled from the practice due to consecutive missed appointments. I explained that this must be a mistake, and that in 8 years, I have missed one appointment without notice, which was due to a family emergency. I have never been notified of any missed appointments, nor have I been charged the $25 No-Show fee, outside of the once prior incident, years ago. I was then transferred to another staff member who rattled off three dates which were apparently listed as No-Show appointments, explained that a certified letter had been mailed to an address we are not associated with, which of course was never received by my family, and that my son was expelled from the practice in September. Blindsided, I again explained that this absolutely was a mistake. The staff member was unwilling to even hear my perspective. I then asked to speak to or have a call from a provider. I was then told that not only would a provider not be willing to speak to me, but that because my son was expelled in September, the practice was only responsible for my son through the month of October, and it now being November, they have no obligation to my son or his continuation of treatment for his ADHD medication. In shock, I explained that trying to schedule a new patient appointment with another pediatrician, especially right before a holiday, and establishing a treatment program elsewhere before he runs out of medication would be impossible. The staff member's response, verbatim, was "well, we did our part." Conveniently, this comes off the heels of a frustrating conversation with another staff member about 2 weeks ago. There are ADHD medication shortages with many pharmacies. After being told from three different pharmacies that the prescribed medication was not available or on back order, I called the practice to try to see or speak to a provider to discuss alternatives. At that time, as was repeated to me this morning, that a provider would not be willing to speak to me and that I just needed to "give them a call when I get it figured out." I had never been spoken to in that manner in my many years working in healthcare, or especially as a patient or guardian of a patient. Because of the medication shortages, I have record of 6 different phones calls to the practice, trying to use a different pharmacy or find a solution, all in the second half of October. I finally found a pharmacy that could fill the prescription, and it was filled on October 31, 2023. In all those phone calls to the practice, not once was I informed that we had been expelled from the practice, that we had ever missed an appointment, or that the very day following the medication renewal, the practice would no longer be responsible or even willing to continue his treatment program. The practice has been put on notice that I was never made aware of their intent to expel us from the practice, they have been made aware that my son will now go without medication that is necessary for his daily function and education, and refuses to even make an exception in refilling his medication one time to allow us time to develop a treatment plan elsewhere. These procedures are dangerous to innocent children whose lives and education depend on medication. It is negligent, irresponsible and an example of Patient Abandonment. The "no-show" dates they provided me, can only be the result of medical record manipulation. The disregard for a patient they have treated since birth, the disrespect for a parent concerned about their son, dismissive tones from staff and the unwillingness of the doctors to even speak to a concerned parent is an absolute shame. Front office staff are horrible, not helpful in the least. The Main doctor that everyone practices under did a very poor circumcision on my oldest son and then even worse job on my youngest. Doctors are fake and give horrible advice. These people shouldn't be giving out or diagnosing such young kids with ADHD and other mental problems and prescribing medication for such things. Leave that up to the doctors that professionalize in these areas. All you are doing is creating over medicated zombies and creating more problems later in life for these now dependent children and uneducated parents. read more

Dr C, Dr Alina, Dr Jobes, and both Nurse Practitioner's Jess Zeller and Jess Eastman are truly amazing. This office is stocked with the best of the best when it comes to providers, and while some may not be thrilled with the support staff... don't let it take away from the dream team who are there to treat and take care of your children. I am truly grateful for this office, and the immaculate care that my children have received here, as well as the support that I have received as a parent. I have never had an issue getting an appointment, and have never felt like my concerns were not being heard. My wife and I have been using this office for over three years. It was by far the most convenient location to our home and they offer 24/7 on call services for help. We just decided to go to a different clinic and could not be happier. Dr. C and his wife (owners) never remembered anything about our kids, which means they don't read charts before coming into treatment rooms. They charge for everything and don't ask questions about what is covered first. Over time I now understand they are just doing basic things and charging insurance companies as much as possible. If you insurance does not cover it or something has a copay you end up paying. Bedside manner is another problem the two doctors have. I have nothing bad to say about the NPs, but they work in an office that charges for anything possible. I do not like the feeling that my kids are only "cared" for to bill insurance/me. The only positive is location in Parrish. I recommend driving elsewhere. read more

The dr was fine but as other reviews mentioned the front office staff is awful. I just called with something simple (Covid test required for travel) and they refused to do it unless he was sick. When I asked where they recommend we go she said cvs or Walgreens (which he is too young for) or urgent care. They are super rude and really don't give a crap about you or your child. I'd pick a different pediatrician. read more

First I would like to state that our provider, Jessica Eastman, was always professional and very willing to work we needed on our request to delay vaccinations. So, we have 3 boys. 2 of which are fully vaccinated and 1 that was working to be. July 30th all three of my boys had an appointment: a physical and two vaccines. However, we spent the weekend with our youngest (almost 2) profusely vomiting and projectile pooping. Therefore, once in the room, I explained to our provider that I wasn't comfortable with him receiving a vaccine that day due to him still needing to heal. She was totally fine with it. However, upon leaving I was badgered by the support staff to put a date down for a future vaccination. At this point, I was not in the frame of mind to even begin thinking about when or what time to schedule so I simply decline and said once he's well and I know our schedule (we travel frequently) that I would call and make an appointment. The MA did not like that. Therefore, the Office Coordinator | Crystal Villarreal took it upon herself to begin the process of discharging my son from Jessica's Eastmans care. I was appalled. To think that a medical establishments is leaving the decisions as to whom to care for and why in the hands of a teenage- like, non medical professional is shocking. Not once did our provider or the office doctor attempt to call and understand the patients side. Crystal only kept repeating the same words, "it's our policy" and "I'm their voice". Laughable considering the policy states, "we encourage vaccines per the CDC schedule." I should have not brought my children there considering all the negative feedback given by the community in the first place, but decided to give it a try and truly did like Jessica Eastman. It's unfortunate that Ellenton Pediatrics practices medicine this way. They 100% do not have the patients care and treatment at the fore front of their establishment. It is all about doing what they want, how they want, and when they want and that's just purely unethical. 1000% listen to the moms and dads in the groups stating to steer very clear of them.
