I really wanted to love and support this bookstore because having a local independent bookstore is…read moresomething I genuinely value, but unfortunately I've been disappointed almost every time I've visited. I've probably stopped in 6 or 7 times, and I rarely feel acknowledged when I walk in. Often the employees are occupied talking with friends or other people and don't greet or check in with customers. They also sometimes hold groups during regular business hours, with everyone seated in a circle near the shop, which can make walking in feel a little awkward when the whole group turns to look at you. My most recent experience was what finally prompted me to leave a review. A popular new book had just released, and even though I could have easily ordered it online, I specifically wanted to purchase it through my local bookstore. They didn't have it in stock, so I asked if they could order The Knave and the Moon for me. Once the employee was able to help me, they were genuinely very friendly, and they wrote down my information and book request on a piece of paper. I was told on Monday that I would likely receive a call by Friday. That was roughly 3-4 weeks ago, and I still haven't received a call or any update. I really want this bookstore to succeed, and I would much rather spend my money locally than order everything online. But after multiple visits where I've felt overlooked and now an order that seems to have fallen through the cracks, it's difficult to keep trying. I hope the customer experience and order follow-up improve, because I would genuinely love to have a local bookstore I can regularly support.

They claimed their markup was $2.xx over spot but when i asked what i could get for $95 I was given $2.30 face value and no change or calculations by the staff. I was in a hurry and had a long drive home so i figured they would be professional but i was very wrong. The hand written receipt reads "2.3 90% $95". Even at $54/oz i was overcharged by at least $5. I will NEVER return again. I will drive 90min one way to reputable shops from now on to keep them in business. IMO this place is full of scammers and thieves.

We like to support local businesses today in the world of internet shopping and we appreciated not only the huge amount of furniture there we could physically touch and feel but even for pieces we ordered that weren't physically there they had other pieces we could see in a different color or style so we could still see the construction and quality of the furniture brand. Amanda could not have been more helpful or knowledgeable! She has an amazing ability to plot out and visualize how things will look in the space of the room and we really needed that! They have been super accommodating and even offered to send us a temporary console to put our TV on since the one we ordered will take a couple extra weeks to arrive from the rest of the things. I can't say enough good things about Elam's! They have only gotten better, if possible, over the last 10 years!

Square Dog claims to be the only store of their kind in a pretty large radius. I have no way of…read moreconfirming that, but do they live up to the massive expectations set by said claim? Mostly. Man, this place seems to have only had one guy working there for years. He's the owner, I believe. It's truly shocking how kind, patient and helpful he is. He's also knowledgeable on most things. I have never found anything I wanna buy here. Five years ago, their movie selection felt about standard. Now, their focus is instead music or books, unfortunately. I'm not a consumer of physical books or music. I hear it's at minimum, an acceptable selection. I can't precisely gauge the value for a few reasons. There aren't many physical media stores in general anymore, plus this guy is very particular about having an extremely high quality of used products he sells. To me, the prices seemed a bit high, but I guess I'm glad he wants to only sell used products that seem new. (Does he sell non used products?) It's an easy building to access, with a huge parking lot. That however, doesn't entirely make up for being closed on a weekend day (Sunday). It being a reasonably big store, COMBINED with the former, does make up for it. It felt like it was very clean on the inside, to a fault...he still has a clear glass panel in front of him at the cash register, and wears a pretty intense face mask with gloves. I'm not going to get personal, don't worry. I'm only mentioning this, because it seriously made him hard to hear when he spoke. So keep that in mind. He had plenty of customers on a Wednesday afternoon before a holiday. Clearly there's something I'm missing here. I've only been here a couple times in five years, so maybe if you're a regular customer, the experience is different and better. There's a few reviews on Google at least, of customers recounting their purchase experiences, that can be very enlightening. Overall, this store seems to have one employee, the owner. A man who provides good customer service, and is concerned about having a pristine store in more ways than one. I'm not sure how many customers he has, but he is still open, so maybe go check him out.
