Upscale thrift shopping- love it! Smells amazing in there, not like other thrift shops.... Only thing negative i can say is the only one trip with 5 things allowed in the fitting rooms. This feels like a punishment to the customer. If one or two people need limiting then limit them, not EVERYONE! Or make it a "suggested limit" so the customer can be made aware of your concern but not mandatory! Really! Most of us would make an effort to try on only our serious choices..... come on! Lovely (higher end) secondhand shop. I came in looking for a small lamp for my kitchen. I did not find one, but I was impressed by their displays. The staff is super friendly and helpful, we were greeted with a happy "hello," as soon as we walked in. Shopping second-hand is recycling at its finest. If the manager's attitude and demeanor matched the great clothing, this would be a great place. But I will not return. The rule is that you can take five items into the dressing room, but only once per day. I come from out of town, and won't drive back to Red Hat the next day to have an opportunity to try on five more of the items that interest me. I am nearly 80, and that is just too inconvenient to make me want to shop there. When I asked the manager to explain the policy, she was bitter and angry. I also had a car filled with donations. I left, drove them to the little thrift shop across the street, and also made purchases. I won't return to Red Hat unless I hear that they get a new manager. read more

This place is ran by poor management. They say they support domestic violence and emergency shelters . Not true . I have watched them break perfectly good household items that could have been given to another organization. I mean I watch this daily . They used to be great . I have always loved shopping at the RedHat. I support their cause and donate often and shop often (except for Covid)....I shop for me, my husband, son, grandchildren and friends. It's a treasure hunt. But the rules are very difficult. I understand a limit of 5 items in the dressing room at a time BUT you can only try 5 items on each visit to the store....Today, in order not to break any rules...I tried on a vest, two coats and a couple of shirts on on by the mirror just across from the cash register (store wasn't busy and the clerks could see that I wasn't stealing anything!). I was told that I could not even try things on there at the mirror. I said well, I can't buy things here if I'm not going to be able to try things on. You are also not able to return things not even for a credit... The manager told me that people entertain themselves by trying things on...well I don't do that!!! I try it on if I'm interested in the item. My suggestion is...deal with the hopefully small minority that may be causing a problem..and make it a friendlier place to shop.... I would like to talk about a situation that accured three days ago, I observed an employee go out of her way to make sure a customer was given back their lost phone. this kind of behavior does NOT happen any more ever actually its unheard of ! so to my surprise when the lady employee walked up and handed the customer her lost phone back without thinking twice a was completely blown away that there is still young people left in this world that know what integrity means (much less act like you have it ! ) I was later informed that the employee was fired ! ? WTF! Please someone tell me why this happened !I want SO bad to tell the owner/manager about herself! I would truly appreciate a response from the management about what I was told!!! I bought a few things I get home and the expensive pair of jeans that I bought had a number of reps right in the crotch and butt area and so I called them and just was willing to do a credit over the phone willing to email pictures whatever and they would not even give me a credit! I've shopped several thrift stores recently, all of which have closed their dressing rooms. This is the only one who will not allow you to try your items on, and who does not accept returns. Their excuse? They can't sanitize the items of clothing. Seriously? How do the other stores manage??? Sad to see yet another non-profit turn to the dark side. It used to be a good place to shop for reasonably priced second hand items. After my visit the last few times I've noticed many obvious used items with retail prices. I would rather support small businesses than shop on ebay and amazon, but when i ask about an item and the clerk tells me "it's listed new on ebay for this price so thats what we're selling it (used) for", this is one Business i can no longer support. read more

I used to love this store and have spent thousands of dollars there over the 18 years I have lived in Longview but that has now changed. Most second hand shops I go to have a policy to return things and get credit toward something else that can be used until it is all used up. I did return something to the Red Hat but forgotten the credit slip was in my purse and I had not used it. So, I went into "my favorite second hand store" but I had less than $5 so I couldn't use my credit card, I didn't have cash and they would not accept a check. I suddenly remembered that I had a credit slip It was for over $7. I pulled it out of my purse to use on the purchase. The cashier went to use it then said it was past experation date. She said I couldn't use it on my purchase and it would now be concidered a "donation". Well with low income, I told her if I wanted to donate I would, but I don't like being forced to donate. I said well just keep the credit but give me the sweater, which was less than $5, they would not do it. I walked out and I made the decision to stop shopping there. After about three months I had a bunch of bags saved that I used to give to the Red Hat and had stopped. I had them with me and wanted to get them out of my car so I decided to forgive R.H.and took them into the store. I had been teaching a young girl to sew and was looking for a Singer School model to teach her on. They are great machines. It was close to closing but happened to see a singer school model there and grabbed it and took it to the front. It said on it "works fine". I paid for it and left. The next morning I was starting to teach the sewing lesson, I opened the bobbin area to put in the correct color and there was no bobbin case. I knew they were around $25 so I drove beck to the R.H. to take it back. I was told they were no longer accepting returns. I said "but it doesn't work". The boss said "Well it worked when we checked it here." Now I am a seamstress and I know that if there is no bobbin case it will not work. The boss also said some very mean things to me. I was very upset so I took the machine and left. So I bought a bobbin case for $25, then went to use it and the thread would not pick up. I took it to a sewing machine fix it place and they said it would be another $140 to set the timing. I have decided no matter how much I miss being able to shop at what was my favorite store, The Red Hat, I simply won't do it. read more

I have enjoyed shopping at the Red Hat for many years. But the last couple of years have seen prices increase a lot. I bought a small box of Christmas lights and their price was more than the retail price still on the box. The few items I bought were Christmas 50% off. Then the price seemed fair. I really hate to give lower star ratings to any thrift shops that serve and support good causes. Red Hat would deserve a 2 star rating for their merchandise quality, organization, and selection & a 5 star rating for the cause it supports (Emergency Womens' Shelter & Services). Things are packed in rather tight here, so be prepared to spend a bit of time and look over the many racks, tables, and shelves of goods. Lots of childrens items for all age ranges. Quality of most goods are in the fair to passable range. We were in on a day when all children books were 10 cents a book, so it was nice to pick up some books to help build up a reading library for a soon to be arriving baby nephew, as well as picking up some books to leave around various waiting rooms that tend to have bored children. I try to make any thrifting trip a multiple win-win. Staff are very friendly and dedicated. Even if you don't find anything, donate a couple of bucks if you can for the cause. Donate some quality goods that are cluttering up your life as well. They are doing the best with what they have at Red Hat. read more

After a friend recommended Red Hat, I visited there twice this week, leaving with 8 fabulous items for $35 over those 2 visits. Everything is arranged nicely and easily accessible. Love their brands too...Eddie Bauer, Christopher & Banks, Alfani, Coldwater Creek, Talbots, and many more that you'd pay top dollar for in a department store. They are so gently used, no one would ever suspect they're secondhand. The salespeople are helpful and friendly. Conclusion? If you love to shop but not to spend, this is a great place. read more

I love this little thrift store. It's small, but they use the space well. There is an upstairs area with discounted items. The wall hangings, as you walk up the stairs, were also marked for sale. I have only been in here once, but they were well organized, friendly and I found one of the best scores I've ever made in a thrift store. I purchased brand new (with tag attached) Anne Klein, grey slacks for six dollars! I also snagged a raspberry jacket for fifteen dollars. They had many other recognizable brands in good shape. Just as with any thrift store, this is all donated, so some of it is in less than great shape, but still wearable. I appreciate the services they support as well, so I'll be happy to pop in again, the next chance I get. read more

This is one of the cleanest thrift stores I've ever been to bar none, everything is organized and their prices are really on point for a thrift shop something you don't see often with goodwill or other "chain" thrift stores. Definitely the cleanest thrift shop on Commerce. Prices are very low and they always have a large $1 clothing rack. Lots of interesting things, I once got a vintage fur-lined leather coat in perfect condition here for only $30. I would have paid over $100 for it at any second-hand store in Portland or Seattle. read more

Staff are very friendly and dedicated. they are non profit organization. everything they make goes to a wonderful cause. the emergency support shelter and parents place. they . they are very dedicated in helping and being part of the community. the store has improved 100%. everything is easy to see and they have great stuff.they have really worked hard on making over the store to make it a better place to be and shop. I can tell u this it is the first and only thrift store I have ever been to that doesn't smell like grandma's attic. I know I have only found nothing but the best clothes there and lots of treasures. and everyday they have different sales and always a 50% of color tag and 75% off color tag.
