A few months back my family and i had food here and it had a lot of liquid smoke on the me. Today it was amazing the flavor was the best pork i've had in a long time. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was made fairly quickly. I recommend the taco salad (the shell was very crispy) and the blackwell (pulled pork on fries) both were amazing. read more

I gave myself a few weeks prior to writing this review in order to cool down, so I'll try to be brief and stick to the facts. I hired Elkhorn BBQ to cater a Women's Leadership Conference I was helping organize for the Coast Guard in Southern Oregon (estimated attendees around 90). I paid half of the money up front and was to pay the remaining half the day of the event. The owner forgot about the event (saying that his phone had gone in the water) and he was an hour and a half late. All of this could have been managed through a re-rack in the schedule, however he didn't have enough food. Only about half of our attendees were able to put food on their plate before it was gone. I asked the owner as people were lined up if we were going to have enough, hoping maybe that he had extra in his truck somewhere, instead he flippantly said "I sure hope so" then said he had some more meat on the smoker that he could go and grab quickly and bring back. I never saw him again. Someone said they saw him come back, grab his stuff and take off again. He didn't bring more food, didn't say anything to me. Lunch was a huge blackmark on the day and I'm still catching crap about it, almost a month later. I wish I could at least say the food was delicious but I can't because I never had the opportunity to try any. I would absolutely NOT recommend using Elkhorn BBQ for any event. read more

Saw the sign going into town for "stuffed bbq avacado" and I was intrigued. Went today for lunch and it was very yummy! I got the stuffed avacado, and my hubby got the pulled pork parfait and coleslaw which was equally as delicious. Nothing fancy, just good food at good prices. Nice view of the bay too. I was disappointed with the pulled pork sandwich that I ordered. I asked if the meat was drizzled wirh sauce or soaked in it. Their answer was it was laddled over the top. All I got was a bun with meat and about a spoonful of bbq sauce. It was not what I expected ... way to dry!!! The fries and coleslaw were excellent and portion sizes were great. I was hoping for Fried Mac & Cheese, but no luck today. Instead I had the teriyaki chicken with yakisoba noodles and it was disappointing compared with food trucks in Florence (Taste of Hawaii and Oregon Box Lunch) - just seemed sort of "leftover." The menu is pretty slanted to pulled pork (which I actually like) - served in ways I've not seen like as a parfait with mashed potatoes or over french fries. The biggest difference for me was the ambiance, for lack of a better word. What I love about food trucks is meeting the owners (which you don't often get to do in in a brick-and-mortar restaurant) and talking to them about their business. Not easy to do here because they were behind closed windows (on this beautiful day) and were either too busy or not interested in making conversation - they only had one other customer at the time, but maybe they were working on pick up orders??
