After spending all day on the lake, we checked in at 6:30 PM only to find out they only accept credit cards, unless you're Canadian, then they accept debit. Thankfully, we had an emergency credit card, or we wouldn't have been able to stay in the room we booked. The lady behind the counter, Laura, was extremely unhelpful. She told us, "I don't know what to tell you, it's your cards that are bad." Another staff member mentioned there was a glitch with some of the credit machines, which is why our debit cards wouldn't work. Despite having our card on file, they refused to accept cash and even had an ATM right behind me. When we finally got our keys, we discovered they put us in a king suite, which is a single room with a king bed and a couch, not the one-bedroom we had booked. When I returned to the front desk, I told the young man that was there that I was put into the wrong room. Laura made sure to come out as soon as she saw me from the back. Laura said that the NEW owners took our room for themselves and that the GM told her to still charge us the one bedroom rate, which was $50 more than the room we received. I requested to switch to a two-queen room, which was $110 compared to $190, but Laura insisted she would have to charge my card again. As a line of people started forming behind me, I pulled up the hotel's website to show the rate for the king suite. Laura reluctantly agreed to discount the rate to $161 after taking my phone from me and looking at the days inn web site, but only after I insisted. She then said, "I don't think anything I do will make you happy, why don't I just check you out?" I told her what would make me happy is to be fair and give me the rate for the room I was put in and not try to upcharge me because the owners took my room. She rolled her eyes, "I will just give you the $161 rate." in a rude clipped tone. I said thank you I appreciate that. After asking for a receipt, she initially refused, stating they only give receipts at checkout. When I asked to take a picture of the computer screen with the new rate, she finally provided a room registration with the discounted rate and made sure to circle the new rate in red marker giving it to me with a scowl on her face. This experience was incredibly frustrating, especially since I visit this hotel regularly for lake boating trips and have never had such issues before. Laura was very rude and unprofessional. I strongly advise staying away from this hotel. Wish I could give 0 stars but unfortunately you have to give at least one.

You really can't beat the price, either. We needed a place to stop while on a road trip with a sick toddler who had been throwing up in the car- we called but it was pretty late at night and they didn't answer. Don't let that keep you from staying here. The owners live right next to the office and they have a bell for you to ring when you want to check in. Supposedly there is a market and place to get food nearby: I haven't checked that out myself. There were some people complaining about thin walls and being able to hear their neighbors- this wasn't an issue for us as we had the end room and I don't think we even had neighbors. So I'm inclined to give the full 5 stars for a price point that gave us a cozy, toasty place to stay for the night with plenty of hot water. Come stay here!! Bring friends!

When I called the morning of my stay I was rudely told no. At checkin the desk clerk ran my credit card multible times, which basically tied up all my existing credit for the duration of my stay. When I pointed out to her that it was an error on her part, she told me if I was unhappy I could go elsewhere. I would have gladly done so if she had not just tied up the bulk of my resources. My room was at the end of a hallway with most of the lights not working and most of the ceiling tiles gone. I opened the curtains to find the outer pane of glass broken and discolored water standing in what was left. The cover to the AC unit was loosely hanging and in need of repair. The mini fridge was sitting atop the desk area and unplugged. Again, I would have chose to leave had her error not tied up all of my existing credit. Every interaction with her or if she was present was increasingly rude and spiteful. Easily one of my worst experiences ever.

At check-in there were crumbs on the table/counters, jelly fingerprints on a kitchen cabinet, cobwebs, dust bunnies etc. And bring your own towels, pillows and sheets (the ones on site are so thin and ratty). Other supplies are limited - only had a few paper towels, 1 garbage bag, we almost ran out of toilet paper etc.. There is also a binder with tons of rules and fines if you don't follow them. I get that to some extent but it could be presented in a much better way.

It's definitely dated and could use some repair work The bathroom had a toilet seat that wasn't connected to the toilet, so it shifted around a good bit. The toilet seat itself has the kind of wear and tear I'd expect to see in an archeological dig as it had some discoloration and some spots that appeared melted. The bathroom had a riddle as there were two light switches. One worked the light and the other worked the exhaust fan. Sometimes the fan would work independently, but at other times the fan wouldn't work unless the light was. You had to sort out the right combination to make one, the other, or both work. The exhaust fan sounded like it runs on diesel and it sent me a wave of nostalgia as it reminded me of family vacations when my dad would pick the cheapest spot he could find. The room appeared clean, so I consider that a win. The bed was cheap, but we both slept just fine on it. The room was very stuffy when we got in, and as I put a finger on the AC panel, the panel fell off. The good news is that the AC worked. This isn't the worst hotel I've ever been to, but it's definitely not the best.
