We had a reservation for dinner. Someone in our party had been there before and had asked about an entree she had at her previous visit. She tried to explain it to the waitress. At first she couldn't exactly remember what that meal was, the waitress was short and dismissive. The waitress was dropping off the water and the guest remembered more of the components. The waitress completely disregarded her as she was explaining to her and just walked away. At that point, when she came back to take our order, I let her know that we weren't done asking a question when she walked away and ignored us. At that point, she told us that she didn't have to deal with us and we could leave. read more

Great course. Well maintained and fast greens. The beautiful views are the best. It look like they are remodeling the clubhouse now. Cannot wait to see what it looks like when it's done. The head pro/manager is just an embarrassment to this beautiful golf course. One of the most breathtaking views along with some well maintained greens. But the head pro that was on shift today was just so unprofessional and cannot control his anger. I paid for my tee time and was intending to walk the course, but decided on the first hole that it was too cold and I'd rather ride with a friend. I should've paid right away, yes, that is on me. But I intended to do so after my tee time to not back it up. The head pro comes to me at the turn and tells us he is sick and tired of "our kind (sounded a bit racist with us being Eastern European) and trying to get away with not paying". I said hey man I'm sorry I will get it squared away and walked with him to the shop. He held the door for me to walk ahead of him and I thought, hm maybe he's not to bad, but then proceeds to slam the door shut after I walk in. I'm sure this wasn't the first time this guy lashed out. Sounds like and looks like he is just mad at the world. A man who cannot control his temper is a reckless man. I wouldn't be surprised if he talks like that to his employees and other guests. I really hope he's not the owner and if the owner does read this, I would seriously look into how he treats his own and possibly other guests. Sadly I will not be giving this place my business anymore and will definitely spread the word locally. read more

This is a fun course. It's worth the drive if you're in the Vancouver/Portland area to head out along the river, arriving at the course play in the morning because of winds pick up in the afternoon.. read more

My friend changed his mind on walking a couple holes in because it was freezing and the club pro ran out onto the golf course and practically dragged him to pay a cart fee by the ear. A hidden gem! This golf course is in Carson, Washington in just about the most beautiful part of the Gorge. We played 9 holes on a Sunday morning in absolute bliss! It was windy, but you'd expect that in the Gorge and it only added to the challenge of the game. This course is only $25 for 9 holes. Great customer service and the course is very well maintained. Course was in great condition and fun (Sept 2024). I was visiting from out of town (but grew up in the area) and my brother had a 2 for 1 coupon from OGA membership. I offered to pay as he drove us out from Vancouver 50 miles. We did schedule our round 3 days earlier. We are both seniors and frankly not rich so we usually opt for twilight times and non weekends but we were stuck here as I was in town. Friday 2:00pm rates were posted at 65 dollars. The course was moderately busy as a scramble had just finished, but traffic afterwards was less. They charged us 74 at the counter (we were walking) with dynamic pricing after we had scheduled our round. 9 dollars more than the going rate in what I would call twilight times was a real rooking. My brother said he would pick up the bucket of balls. I asked him to throw in a pull cart as me visiting had minimal room in the car to carry one. I also asked him to throw in a Gatorade as it was hot and I had forgotten my water carrier (there was no drinking water on the course). He paid 28 dollars (for balls a pull cart and a Gatorade). At the time I was itching to get out with my brother but I did say wow when that bill came up. I was not going to be abrasive to the sweet young girl behind the counter as it was not her fault. Will I play it again? Probably, but it wont be for a while and I will pin down price over the phone before I drive out. Or maybe not This really hurts people who are on a budget, but I guess buyer beware holds. I am a 6hcp and like to try a 'nicer' course once in awhile but when you make a deal and the price all of a sudden changes it makes you angry. read more

5/9/2023 I was there on this date with my dad and friends. We were asked by the ranger to let a group play through we said no problem actually let both groups play through. That is when the Pro came up and berated us on we can not choose to jump on and off the golf course. We explained to him the Ranger asked us to let the group play through he did not care and continued his rant. My dad asked how much to play another nine he said I will not let you play. We love this course but will never go back due to the Pro.. This is not the first time the Pro has acted this way. I would fire him... He is costing you money. Horrible read more

I have played the course twice in the last week because it is a premier course, very well-maintained, professionally challenging and the services are great. Would highly recommend this course. It is also one of the most beautiful settings, with the Oregon gorge cliffs forming a panorama that is spectacular. read more

Three of us played Elk Ridge yesterday for the first time. The best way to describe the experience is to say it was confusing. First of all the course is located in Carson, WA, about an hours drive east of Portland - cross the Columbia River at The Bridge of the Gods. If you have played Skamania Resort course, it is about six miles east. The confusion starts as soon as you enter Carson. Now it need not be that way because there is only on stop sign in the town, well it is a four way stop with a flashing light, so I guess there are four stop signs. There is NO signage to the course. O, there is a small sandwich type sign on the corner saying Elk Ridge Grill right turn, but nothing about a golf course. So after stopping to ask directions ( a male sin! ) we discovered that you do indeed turn right at the Elk Ridge Grill sign. Out tee time was 8:24, but it is confusing as to why it was necessary, the parking lot was empty - in fact we did not encounter another golfer the entire round. Which brings in the second confusing issue and the reason there were no other golfers. The greens had just been plugged and sanded! Putting was like putting on a Chinese checker board. It was a new adventure every green. When the round was over I went into the Pro Shop, the man behind the counter ask about our experience. I said it was okay, I liked the course, but if I would have known the conditions of the greens I would not have played. His response was, "Well, I told you that when you made the tee time." I told him that he did not inform us of the conditions, but he insisted that would have been impossible. I went to the restroom and on my return he said, "I might have been wrong, it looks like your tee time was taken by one of the girls. I was working in the cart barn." I thanked him and left, but it was not a woman who took my tee time! The third issue of confusion could not be helped. Since the course is located in, what is known as, the Columbia Gorge, wind is a factor always. Some days it is light and others it is pretty ferocious. Yesterday it was the latter. Par fours were almost impossible to reach in two when hitting into the wind and when the wind was at our backs wedges would fly the greens. It would take a couple of times playing it understand the vagaries of the course. Another confusion comes from course marking. Signage on the course is as bad as signage to the course. It is so bad that the guy in the pro shop said, "If you get lost, just follow the cart path."(-; But, even after all the confusion, I would rate the course itself as very good. After playing the soggy courses of Portland, it was a joy to play a course that is dry. The fairways are great and show signs of excellent care. The greens are huge and receptive and, I am sure, will be great when they are healed. Would I play it again? The answer is an emphatic "yes"! read more

This is a "Must Go" location. This is a awesome and beautiful course. Can't wait to play again! But wait...the biggest surprise was the food and drinks! The burger is huge, great, and a very reasonable price. I would go here just to hang out, have a few beers (they do have a full bar), and enjoy a great meal and view. While playing, the views of the surrounding mountains and the Gorge, incredible!!! read more

I really like this golf course. Nestled in the Columbia Gorge with where wildlife abound. The course is well maintained and the greens are well groomed and deceptively contoured. The front and back nines could not be more different. After the first up hill par four you are on a plateau until the exciting downhill par 5 ninth. The back nine is up and down with some short par 4s and accessible greens. Nary a tree on the course, mostly tall natural grass in the rough. read more

we have played this course many many times...not all but sometimes we have brought our 2 small dogs who remain in the cart. we are very responsible dog owners with leashes, water dishes, food, blankets, and potty bags in case. our dogs are not disruptive in the least. all of a sudden with new management/ownership...no dogs are allowed. we showed up today..paid a premium to play, then we informed before we starTed that we could not have our dogs. then they only wanted to issue a rain check. i informed the staff that would not be acceptable as we are never coming back. they had to get a manager on the phone to authorize a refund. we played many local courses, including the one we left and went to that welcome furbabies. Just an fyi to anyone who in the past has had their dogs welcomed, but not anymore. read more

Took my dad up here for his birthday and it was one of the best rounds of golf we have had ever. I was kind of shocked that we were the only people on the course but it was a Wednesday and the weather could have gone either way, luckily for us, it was perfect. They had a fire in their kitchen so no food was available but that was okay, they kept apologizing for it but hey whatcha gonna do. The course was in great shape and I could see where the conditions would change depending on weather, wind would work with you are against you on different holes. read more

Yesterday's round of golf was our WORST ever because we literally had to walk off the course halfway through our game. Despite our promising mid-morning start in wonderful weather and stunning views of the Columbia Gorge, the grounds crew began fertilizing/seeding in earnest as we teed off on Hole Eight. Immediately my wife--who is quite sensitive to such issues--began hacking and coughing uncontrollably. She immediately popped some medication to ward off further ill effects, but on the successive holes she faced worsening conditions as the staff applying fertilizer were literally always one step ahead. We finally pulled the plug on the 11th hole, when she could barely draw a breath between hacking, wheezing and coughing. When she stopped in at the Pro shop to explain that we would have NEVER driven 120+ miles (one way) to play the course had we been informed (1) The greens had been punched, making even short putts a guessing game, (2) The course had recently been fertilized/seeded, and (3) Staff were actively fertilizing/seeding during our round, the guy at the counter just said, "Well, I'm sorry." Guess what? Not only are we sorry that we were not informed in advance of these conditions, but that there are "pro staff" working at any golf shop who obviously do not apparently care about their customers' playing experience. In fact, we are sorry enough that we will never play here again. read more

I played this course on 6/4/17. The course was wonderful shape with excellent fairways (nice carry for the ball) and greens . This course drains very well. The staff was very friendly. The halibut fish and chips were delicious. I highly recommend this course. The nature views are commanding and beautiful. It is well worth the drive to Carson. read more
