This is a fun course. It's worth the drive if you're in the Vancouver/Portland area to head out along the river, arriving at the course play in the morning because of winds pick up in the afternoon..

A hidden gem! This golf course is in Carson, Washington in just about the most beautiful part of the Gorge. We played 9 holes on a Sunday morning in absolute bliss! It was windy, but you'd expect that in the Gorge and it only added to the challenge of the game. This course is only $25 for 9 holes. Great customer service and the course is very well maintained. Such a fun day golfing!

I have played the course twice in the last week because it is a premier course, very well-maintained, professionally challenging and the services are great. Would highly recommend this course. It is also one of the most beautiful settings, with the Oregon gorge cliffs forming a panorama that is spectacular.

View from the par 3 13th hole.

Three of us played Elk Ridge yesterday for the first time. The best way to describe the experience is to say it was confusing. First of all the course is located in Carson, WA, about an hours drive east of Portland - cross the Columbia River at The Bridge of the Gods. If you have played Skamania Resort course, it is about six miles east. The confusion starts as soon as you enter Carson. Now it need not be that way because there is only on stop sign in the town, well it is a four way stop with a flashing light, so I guess there are four stop signs. There is NO signage to the course. O, there is a small sandwich type sign on the corner saying Elk Ridge Grill right turn, but nothing about a golf course. So after stopping to ask directions ( a male sin! ) we discovered that you do indeed turn right at the Elk Ridge Grill sign. Out tee time was 8:24, but it is confusing as to why it was necessary, the parking lot was empty - in fact we did not encounter another golfer the entire round. Which brings in the second confusing issue and the reason there were no other golfers. The greens had just been plugged and sanded! Putting was like putting on a Chinese checker board. It was a new adventure every green. When the round was over I went into the Pro Shop, the man behind the counter ask about our experience. I said it was okay, I liked the course, but if I would have known the conditions of the greens I would not have played. His response was, "Well, I told you that when you made the tee time." I told him that he did not inform us of the conditions, but he insisted that would have been impossible. I went to the restroom and on my return he said, "I might have been wrong, it looks like your tee time was taken by one of the girls. I was working in the cart barn." I thanked him and left, but it was not a woman who took my tee time! The third issue of confusion could not be helped. Since the course is located in, what is known as, the Columbia Gorge, wind is a factor always. Some days it is light and others it is pretty ferocious. Yesterday it was the latter. Par fours were almost impossible to reach in two when hitting into the wind and when the wind was at our backs wedges would fly the greens. It would take a couple of times playing it understand the vagaries of the course. Another confusion comes from course marking. Signage on the course is as bad as signage to the course. It is so bad that the guy in the pro shop said, "If you get lost, just follow the cart path."(-; But, even after all the confusion, I would rate the course itself as very good. After playing the soggy courses of Portland, it was a joy to play a course that is dry. The fairways are great and show signs of excellent care. The greens are huge and receptive and, I am sure, will be great when they are healed. Would I play it again? The answer is an emphatic "yes"!

This is a "Must Go" location. This is a awesome and beautiful course. Can't wait to play again! But wait...the biggest surprise was the food and drinks! The burger is huge, great, and a very reasonable price. I would go here just to hang out, have a few beers (they do have a full bar), and enjoy a great meal and view. While playing, the views of the surrounding mountains and the Gorge, incredible!!!

Bugs destroyed all of our food and were a constant source of annoyance all through our trip. My wife and I used to really enjoy this place and visit a couple times a year. This was one of our main places to relax and unwind with the incredibly unique mineral water and the multiple hot tubs in their big suites. I don't want to be a hater. Especially to a place that we've enjoyed in the past. But I am afraid we're no longer going to be visiting here after the nightmare experience we just had here. We just spent a lot of money for their biggest suite and another hotel room for our family to visit. Our suite was completely infested with disgusting bugs. Bugs were going up and down the walls. Bugs destroyed most of our food disgustingly infesting it within a hour of us leaving it on the kitchen table. We spent over a hour trying to clear the room and the walls of the bugs but they just kept re-appearing. When we told the lady at the front desk about this. She said it was to be expected... and that her kid once dropped a Popsicle three miles from there that attracted ants... ...Lady, I don't know what the hell you were talking about. But this trip cost over two thousands dollars. And when I'm trying to politely tell you that your biggest suite in your resort is infested with bugs crawling the walls with their infestation holes dotted throughout the wood in the kitchen, mainly so some Karen doesn't lose her mind on you in the future... and you blow me off with that malarkey... we're never coming back. My mother had the ADA room and the cover on her hot tub was broken which meant the people in the ADA room couldn't get the cover on or off the hot tub... When we checked in, a different lady at the front desk was cranky after dealing with complaints all day saying people either loved or hated this place. Well... we used to love it but it's really quite easy to hate it with how it's falling apart, dilapidated, infested with vermin and the staff has an "I hate life and I hate my job" type of attitude. Just a rather lousy experience which is a shame because my wife and I used to really love it here but I'm not going to spend this type of money to deal with bugs or poor attitudes. If I had spent half for this experience, I might have a different attitude but this was top dollar and Carson Resort was Vegas prices for a low end troubled Motel 6 with a hot tub. Also having that nightmare image in my mind of our food completely infested was not an experience I was hoping to have on my vacation. On the plus side, the restaurant at the Golf Course part of this resort was awesome!

Girl golfer here...this would be a 3,5 star review, if I could give half stars…read more I first came to this course with my girlfriend my first year learning to golf (that was last year, y'all). It is not an easy course! Even my husband, who is an avid golfer says so. It is beautiful and despite what you might think, you won't get views of the Gorge here. But you will be ensconced in gorgeous Pacific Northwest trees and hills that will take your breath away. This is an 18-hole course and it appears that some holes share a green with other holes (though, I've only played 9, so I can't say for certain). The fairways are challenging, in that they'll take turns or be quite narrow, edged my foliage or marsh that makes finding a wayward ball challenging. (However, if you have a ball finder, you could come away ball-rich!) they also are dry and patchy, adding to the challenge of the course. The greens are especially challenging because they are not clean and smooth. There are different varieties of grass (weeds?) on them and patches of dry ground. The staff is friendly and the people who golf here are casual and very friendly as well! All in all, I recommend this challenging, beautiful course.

while we were here, we did both the mini golf and the escape room. we stayed in portland for only 5…read moredays and ended up spending two of our evenings here. the mini golf was really well decorated and fun. the staff cleaned our golf clubs before giving them to us (we didnt ask) which made me feel a lot better about how many people have probably touched them. the staff was so friendly every time we talked to one of them and were generally just pleasant to talk to. i feel like i could have made friends with any of them. the escape room was a lot of fun with puzzles that were tricky but not too difficult. we didn't end up finishing it, but we got very close. i would recommend doing this with more than two people. i do have to mention that there are a lot of sudden noises and there are some parts of the room that were a bit scary- not scared for my life but definitely startled. they didn't warn about these but they were very cautious about making sure we were okay with flashing lights and small confined spaces. i wouldnt bring anyone younger than 13 to this room. overall a wonderful experience and a great place to spend an evening (or two)
