Not only is it…read moreprivately owned and operated, it also is filled with the products that are exclusive to real outdoorsman and bespoke with actual quality goods that meet the highest standards. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Most importantly; they're enthusiasts. They know their products, and are passionate. You will not find big-box commercial items here. Only well-crafted goods that are heirloom quality to last a lifetime. The axes, hatchets and knives are lifetime investments, and the footwear selection is unbeatable. I drive an hour to come shop here, passing every other commercial "outdoor" store and smile as I do it. It's a treat to be a customer, and you'll know when you first step foot in the place.

Checking in was easy - and quickly brought to our launch site. Easy access via ramp or steps - in the water and off we went. Knowing when to exit the river was very obvious (my worry not having done this prior, etc.) Can't be missed. We all had a nice time and are already talking about when to go again. (Plus, you are trucked to the site - and when you are done - you are at your vehicle. Easy to dry off some, hop in the car up the small hill to the shop where you can easily change into dry clothes for your trek home.)

The store had a few necessities, good for what you need from them. The river itself was great for floating. The water level was up, no getting stuck on rocks on our day. Cons: The manager looking guy was a little grumpy looking and not approachable in the store. I actually thought about 3 stars because this was so noticeable, but the others working there don't deserve that. It would have been great to have a few picnic tables or a changing area down at the river. Just a little shack with half doors like a dressing room would be great. We had that in Bryson City after a trip down the river there, and it was wonderful to not have to get in the car while still wet. Everyone was making makeshift beach towel dressing rooms for their friends at this spot.

The prices are crazy high and the employees are either uninformed or terrible with customer service. I have visited this store probably 5 times in the last year. Every time I hope to run into the store (because it is the only one) and grab a pair of running shoes. I am familiar with good shoes and bad shoes so I just want to get a person's attention and get the shoes and leave. Each time I spend an hour in the store and end up with crappy shoes that cost over $100 and I end up walking out without any shoes.
