Elizabeth Grace has all this and more, which makes it a perfect shop for purchase things for myself, or on a more generous day, gifts for others. The greeting card selection is fun and unique, but I tend to lean toward dollar store or, when I'm feeling splurgy, Target greeting cards. Prices are about the same as what you'd pay at shops like Papersource or Papyrus. The entire back of the shop is dedicated to custom invitations if that's your style. I wasn't shopping for anything in particular, but I could have easily spent $100 here on various zip bags (a yellow bag proclaiming, "Make Every Day an Adventure,") candles, notepads, lip gloss (lychee macaron!), and writing instruments. read more

Just like Kim H., I also had a two-hour long consultation with the owner, Laura, and never received a proposal. This was back at the end of September. I even called a couple of weeks later to see if maybe she just forgot or got busy with something else (I realize things can come up and thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt). She told me then that she was backlogged with proposals but that she would get back to me with a proposal right away. After 6 weeks, I'm pretty sure she's just written me off entirely. I can't belive I went through the effort of setting up a meeting with my fiancee (who's work schedule is pretty hectic) and my mother (who lives out of the country), only to never receive a response back. Horrible customer service! We ended up ordering our invites at Pulp & Ink, which I HIGHLY recommend. Jeff was wonderful to work with and he was able to have a proposal for me by the end of our consultation. Can't beat that! read more

This place is so wonderful!!! I looked at a few places for my wedding invitations and my save the date cards. Laura was so helpful and attentive. Her store is very cute. They have numerous other little trinkets, cards, gifts and stationary. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by and see Laura and her staff they are simply amazing, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The small selection of cards and novelties is nice, however, I have found the same line of candles and similar gifts in other boutiques where they provide much better customer service. When I visited the store, the salesperson barely looked up to say hello and offered the bare minimum response to a question I asked. Some places make you feel good and create a warm atmosphere in the shop; which is not something I experienced at Elizabeth Grace. I also did not find the stinky, yappy dog at my feet an endearing touch. Elizabeth Grace has a wonderful selection of high end social stationery. I went in looking for some invitations and met with the owner at the time. During the meeting, she promised a proposal scoping out pricing for 2-3 invitations I liked. Unfortunately, even after several emails and phone calls it took almost a month to get a proposal. Elizabeth Grace has a wonderful assortment of fine greeting cards. The letterpress cards are classic, artistic and trendy. They also have a nice, although somewhat small selection of unique gifts, especially wedding and baby gifts. They carry designer (including Vera Wang) stationary that inspires me to give helvetica and times new roman the boot and class up my correspondence. Elizabeth Grace really came through for me this past father's day. My dad is not a golfing/tie wearing/flyfishing/lawnmower/BBQ kind of guy and I was able to find an adorable, original card without a cliched theme or a nauseatingly gushy sentiment. I haven't had experience with their custom invitations but they look really lovely and expensive. As a bride-to-be I just ordered my save the dates from EG & can't wait to go in & select my wedding invitations. Before I settled on Elizabeth Grace I visited Paper Source, All She Wrote, Papyrus & Crane- I also ordered samples online from the Green Kangaroo & The Gatsby(?). Elizabeth Grace had better or the same prices as other stores but the customer service couldn't be beat. Laura has been fabulous to work with- full of ideas and inspiration. My Mom & I spent two hours laughing and enjoying our time in her shop when we selected my save the dates. Laura even found examples of matte thermography for me so I could have the look of engraving without the exorbitant price! I also love the gift & card selection- her baby section is my go-to spot whenever I have a baby gift to pick up. From onesies to socks to small toys, all of the selections are personal and sweet. I'd suggest Laura at Elizabeth Grace to anyone looking for a fabulous invitation experience. I'll be going back for any future baby announcements, showers, or invitations! I don't know how I can write this and not sound like I am a fraud because I am so so SO happy with my experience at Elizabeth Grace, but I promise I'm just a regular bride who happened upon Elizabeth Grace when searching online for a Chicago store with a wide variety of invitation options by eco-friendly letterpress brands. I was looking for wedding invitations that satisfied my 4 criteria: environmentally responsible, elegant (why were so many "green" invitations literally shades of green?), letterpress, and affordable-ish. Elizabeth Grace delivered with flying (ivory) colors! Here are the highlights of why I wish the whole world operated like Elizabeth Grace. (This is also why I'm writing a review - I have lived in Chicago for 8 years and written probably 5 reviews in my life.) **** 1. Patience: My appointments were always as long and as frequent as I wanted! Even though I'm sure I overstayed my welcome and was certainly far from their most lucrative customer, they let me stay until closing time on more than one occasion, while I leafed through the same books over and over again, talking to myself about the pro's and con's of all the little details. I probably asked them to run the numbers on 57 permutations of the same invitation, and, as embarrassed as I was to be such a huge pain in the ass, they promised me it was no skin off their back. They never made me feel rushed or bothersome, which I've learned is a rare treat in the bridal vendor world (possibly because we brides are super annoying, but still). 2. Friendly Expertise: I got tons of personal attention from multiple store associates and the store owner every time I had an appointment. It felt like I was hanging out with my girl friends, except that my real girl friends would've probably killed me for being so indecisive. They had real opinions and seemed to genuinely enjoy picking color combinations and font styles with me. Maybe they're all-star actresses, but I got the sense that the employees have a real appreciation for their goods and want to provide their expertise and input to each choice made by their customers. I loved getting their advice and would have never made up my mind without them. 3. Efficiency / Responsiveness: About a month into working with them, I went on a week-long vacation and then permanently moved out of the state. During the same period, my main contact at EG went on vacation. If mis-communications or delays were ever going to occur, they would have. Instead, I was handed off seamlessly to another associate who was already abreast of my vacation and moving schedule, and we did not skip a beat. In fact, the one time I didn't respond to a matter as quickly as I could have, they contacted me a 2nd time in the same day just to make sure they were doing all they could to help me meet the tight deadline I had. (For the cynics among us, EG already had my money, so their attentiveness was not to make the sale, just to make sure I was a satisfied customer, which clearly worked out.) Maybe the negative review in June caused a change; my experience was the complete opposite. One final thought on this topic because it's probably the one that separates EG the most from other wedding-related vendors. If you can't tell, I'm on the type-A side...okay fully neurotic. When I email questions to a vendor, they are typically exhaustive and hyper-detailed. Usually I receive responses that are vague, non-comprehensive, and full of inconsistencies (not to mention terrible English), which drives me completely bananas. Not at Elizabeth Grace. Each time I wrote them a super annoying email full of bullet-pointed questions and scenarios, I received a timely, super gracious, and perfectly-organized response (in a good-natured tone, to boot). What would have typically taken 25 emails (and many rants to my fiance about how, pardon my French, the world is full of a bunch of f'ing idiots), took about 5 emails instead. **** If there is ever a premium worth paying, it's one that saves time and aggravation during the stressful wedding planning process. But, lucky for me (and you), there is no premium to work with the ladies at Elizabeth Grace. Just beautiful products, a well-run business, and really wonderful people. Make an appointment, and see how great they are. Seriously, I'm just a regular old bride who is so shocked by her own satisfaction with a vendor that I had to write this absurdly long review. I've been in here many, many times. Mainly it's just to look around, browse their wide selection of cards and stationary, and pet the pooch (Jasper). Luckily, (or unluckily, I suppose) I haven't been shopping with the stresses of wedding planning on my mind, but I've had nothing but good experiences here. There's generally only one girl at the register who (for the most part) lets you shop in peace (which I enjoy, but I know some people prefer a more hands-on sales assistant). The prices are a little steep, but from my research I've found that it's mainly due to the high-end products they sell, not a boosted sales sticker. Very nice! Elizabeth Grace is a beautiful, high-end stationary store in Lincoln Park that also has a ton of great gifts! I wanted a nice card to ask my maid of honor to stand up in my wedding, and they had lovely options. You can't help buying a bunch of other greeting cards while perusing in there.. too many pretty choices. Also, in a moment of panic the week of my wedding, I realized I didn't have table numbers for my reception tables. Um.. duh! Kinda need those so guests know where to sit. I called up Laura at EG and she jumped on it and created something beautiful in a matter of days! I don't know if that is possible all the time (she might have been having a slow week), but that put all my stress aside. I honestly really like this place and have met Laura who was wonderful. I've gone here for many gifts and things, but the last time I was in the neighborhood, I took my friend here and it wasn't such a pleasant experience. The staff was all over the place packaging gifts or invitations. We were not even greeted or asked if we needed help finding anything. And then to top it all off, I stepped in dog poop that was in the store on the white rug. Now I love animals, especially dogs, but if you are going to bring your dog to work, take him out, or watch him to make sure nothing like that happens! My friend and I were so disgusted that we put down the items we were going to purchase and left so I could go wash my feet and my flip flops. I love paper. No, really. I LOVE paper. So, I knew that my visit to Elizabeth Grace to look at wedding invitations wouldn't be a short one. I also knew that the staff would have to have a lot of patience to deal with me because I am indecisive and used to working in marketing where I get to do everything custom. So, I was pleasantly surprised when the staff not only tolerated me, but made my afternoon really enjoyable. Merisa was beyond helpful, patient and all around fun to talk to. She really knows her stuff. After more than 10 years in marketing and events, I can talk printing with the best of them, but she even taught me a few things. I entered the store having no idea where I wanted to go with the invitations and too many ideas in my head. Merlsa really helped me narrow down the ideas and come to a really clear direction for my invitations. I'm still mulling over the two we chose and trying to decide if I want to go with those or with a custom invitation, but I couldn't have gotten here without her. I'm very, very impressed with Elizabeth Grace. Their invitations aren't cheap, but if you're going for cheap and don't care how your invitations look, then you're not in the right place. A good impression went terribly bad. I first went to a wedding vendor party they had there and was impressed by their cute gifts and setup. They had such a great arrangement of paper and options for invitations that I immediately set up an appointment for my mom to come in so we can talk about wedding invites. They had great attention to detail. However, they are snobs and a half! The vendors would only talk to my friend who seemed more dressed up than I was and before I'd go approach another vendor, the others would whisper to each other and by the time me and my friend would get there, they'd only talk to my friend (we are both having weddings this summer and she's got her downtown so maybe they figured she'd be more promising) Regardless of the service, I set up an appointment with my mom and I to go and talk about invitations and I could feel the assistants looking us up and down. The woman who helped us looked like we were wasting her time and she never did get back to us with a quote on the invitations we were interested in. Every time I'd call she'd make up some excuse as to why she doesn't have it yet. Then finally she tells me after my 5th time calling, "if you want to go to someone else, I'll understand." Big mistake, Elizabeth Grace! Never judge a customer by its cover. You missed out on a terrific opportunity with some very loaded parents. My family was prepared to splurge like crazy! If they were running an e-business, it might be acceptable. But they are not. What a fabalous store! Guys- this place makes finding a unique and original gift as easy as ordering a beer at a sports bar. If you don't particular like to shop, the beautiful and friendly staff will literally find something for you that is a perfect find. After repeatedly contacting EG to get quotes and proofs together for my invitations and not hearing back for a month, I had to take my business somewhere else. My daughter got married in Chicago 2 weeks ago. We used Elizabeth Grace to design and print our invitations, table and menu cards, programs and tags for our welcome and favor bags. We cannot say enough about the beauty of the items they made for us, the fantastic service, attention to each and every little detail and the kindness and fun they contributed to the wedding. My daughter worked mainly with Meredith, who is an angel and SO on top of things, but also with the other staff members who were also so great. I waited several months to write this review so I was sure that I wasn't reviewing Elizabeth Grace based on wedding fueled emotions. I was introduced to EG at a wedding expo. The products were really cute so when I had trouble finding the invitation I wanted I paid them a visit. . As soon as my fiance and I walked in the door the salesperson acted like she did not have time for us; funny since we had an appointment. When I told her exactly what I wanted she tried to talk me out of it. That would have been okay if she had a good reason or suggested an alternative, but she was extremely negative and basically made me feel like my ideal wedding stunk. Her disinterest was even more obvious when I told her what I hoped to pay; not that I couldn't afford more, if she had showed a little enthusiasm and salesmanship she could have talked me into spending more on either invitations or other products. No bride deserves the treatment I received. She upset me so badly and made me so angry that I could not bring myself to do any wedding planning for a week. The vibes I got from the owner was that she wanted me to please leave so she could be in peace and alone in the shop like she normally is. I'm so glad I was in a bit of a hurry today or else I would have spent a ton of money. I stopped in because I needed to purchase a small gift box and this came up as the nearest stationary/gift shop. I was promptly greeted by friendly sales associates that didn't act like I was wasting their time buying such a small item. They chatted with me, and weren't pushy as I briefly looked around at other items- such as their perfumes. I definitely plan on coming back here to drain my pocketbook! I chose 4 stars for Elizabeth Grace because that star stated "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I cant GUSH loud enough and long enough , about the service my daughter and I received from this store, Elizabeth Grace, (and the owner of the store, Laura), in getting wedding invitations out! Elizabeth Grace is one of the few places chosen by the company, Elum (in Chicago) to carry their wedding invitations. My daughter and I were able to then see them, touch them, etc., and from there, order them. The shop is absolutely ADORABLE....with much to look at besides wedding invites. My daughter and i were VERY pleased at how the owner Laura, held our hands, through the entire process , meaning she continually made suggestions when we didnt know what or how to 'word' something, and basically did the entire wedding invitation process for us. There was a cost, certainly , but to me, it has been WORTH every penny. She made it completely painless. I would definitely recommend this shop to ANYONE who is looking for help achieving perfection with their wedding items. Not only did Elizabeth Grace help us with the invitations, but they are also going to help with other printing needs, such as table numbers with a particular font we are wanting, the escort cards, and the menu. We love to support local businesses, and this shop always looked so attractive from the street that I thought I'd use it for invitations to a couple's shower for my son and his fiancee. Wrong move! Although the sales associate, Merisa Cano, was lovely and helpful, no one told me that short runs (fewer than 100) are printed digitally and that digital printing can smear when wet. Using a barely damp sponge on the flaps to seal the invites, the moisture smeared the invitations -- but obviously I didn't know that until people called to tell me (including the guests of honor). All but one was smeared and that, because I licked it carefully. The shop did not want to refund my money or any portion of it, but instead offered to reprint them (pointless to send the same invitation again) or print me up some custom stationery! As it turns out, the store owner/manager (?) did not know that digital printing smears, and apparently the vendor -- Pica Press -- never told them. The same woman (owner or manager?) kind of laid the blame on me when she said, ''Most people use double-face tape or a glue-stick to seal envelopes." Really? They know not to lick or use a sponge on the sealer strip and buy a glue-stick or double-face tape to use instead? read more

They did my wedding invites a couple of years ago and everyone was talking about them...baby carriage later, we decided to create a photo Christmas card and went there to do a custom design. Again, they came out spectacular and as Christmas photo cards go...not the Tinyprints or Shutterfly variety that we previously used that were thin, the colorization awful, etc...these are keepers, we loved them! These ladies could not have been nicer. They dropped everything to meet with me and my mom on a very busy Saturday. The owner, Laura sat down with us for a few hours and really helped me to customize my invitations and save the dates. They really know how to work with the brands they carry and can figure out how to get exactly what you want. They can also do custom postage and do all the calligraphy for me. I'm so excited to see the proofs, they totally get exactly what I want. They also knew all of my other wedding vendors so I feel totally taken care of!!! Elizabeth Grace RUINED my WEDDING invitations. We were the easiest clients, came in and on one visit picked out our invitations and put down our deposit. We then hired " the professionals " there to stuff, stamp and address our invitations, a service they claimed to do all the time. BIG MISTAKE, huge. They completely mis addressed the envelopes, leaving off guests significant others, partners, etc.. We were mortified, and couldn't believe that this happened. I couldn't believe that they didn't even check their work before they were sent off, it's just totally negligent. To add insult to injury, when I called them to inform them of the huge error they had made and they had promised to send a card to our guests explaining the error, they sent me an invoice for the remaining balance! When I explained that I would pay it when I was back in town a few days later they then refused to send out the correction cards until it was paid. Elizabeth Grace basically held the correction cards and our extra wedding invitations hostage. The most disappointing part in all of this is the unprofessional owner, Laura. Not once through out this entire experience did Laura ever apologize for the error her business made, never reached out to us personally and never once offered to compensate us in any way. ( other than removing the addressing and stuffing charge, that should be a given ) that reduction was made by an employee. Laura made it very clear to both my fiancé and I that she didn't really care about her reputation or making things " right " she cared only about the remaining balance we owed and the profit she would make. I have been a business owner for over 15 years and know many other business owners in the city. In an industry where " Mom and Pop " businesses are being shut down every day, customer service is key. I've never met a business owner who has cared less about her customers until now. I will never recommend Elizabeth Grace to anyone. I expected Laura to do the right thing after they made such a huge error that really embarrassed my fiancé and I during such an important time in our lives. Beautiful selection of things I hadn't seen before - card lines, Vera Wang papers, reading glasses, a few tiny table games, tiny gifts.... What really caught my eye was their huge focus on custom wedding invites. Since I don't live near Chicago, I asked the owner if I could take a few photos on my camera phone to show my fiance samples of her designs and she went on and on about how she couldn't say no but she's sick of people stealing her original custom designs but she wasn't going to tell me I couldn't so I might as well just as long as I promised..... seriously she went on like this for 5 minutes. And that's how an upper-end wedding shop wants to get clients (trust me, her custom invites make her a pretty penny)?? Wrong approach, sorry. At least maybe an information sheet with a few examples or something other than a business card for out-of-town interested clients would be nice, but not arguments and coldness. I had a very large order of wedding invitations (5 grand). I was mortified to see the invitation come out with 2 typos, 1 from them adding something in after I had approved the proof and not seen the addition. With how much they charge, there is a severe lack of quality control. Think twice if you expect perfection in your invitation. read more
