My wife and I were on a road trip and just had lunch nearby. I wanted coffee before getting back on the road. Elixr is my type of coffee shop! Focused on high quality coffee! Clean and modern shop with nice seating. Gentleman working the counter was pleasant and professional. What I would typically call a "pour over", they call a "hand pour". They can call it whatever they want, it was fantastic! They extracted maximum flavor and served it at optimal temperature. Bonus points for the classy vessel it was served in. I would gladly return to Elixr! read more

This place is awesome. The vibe inside is cute and cozy, although definitely come during off hours if you're planning on taking a seat. I love the drinks and the pastries. It's a little pricey, but there really aren't better ones downtown. The service is also great. They take their time with drinks and make sure things come out right. One time someone else took my drink from the counter, and the staff remade it for me in a larger size at no charge and gave me a voucher for a free drink my next visit. So kind of them! Bustling coffee shop on a Saturday morning, great to see with a green sign bully a block away. Very organized, while busy it was apparent they know how to move a line. The latte was amazing but a separate espresso was rather like warm, borderline cool. I had already taken to go cups out and dealt with it. Otherwise charming in all regards. read more

Fast and kind service & some great coffee! We love a good coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Thoroughly enjoyed the caramel black salt latte and the double chocolate muffin. The latte wasn't too sweet, and the salt was a nice touch. The muffin was flavorful and baked well. I almost went back to order another! Glad to come back again and a great spot to stop by. read more

Best macchiato I've had in the States. Was in town for a football game and we had to try a local coffee shop. Stopped by here early in the morning and this spot came in clutch. Great coffee, cool space, and willing to serve fans cheering for the road team haha. People were great here and so was the coffee! read more

Why 5 stars? Because they were there for me when I needed them. Twice! Sunday, 7:30am, dropped hubby at conference on campus. We're staying at rustic cabin and did not bring coffee fixins. One of the only, if not only, LOCAL coffee shops open on Sunday at this time. Thank you! Then... I ordered two to go drinks and a few muffins. Did not want carrier - waste reduction. But I couldn't click the door latch to get out. Staff happily hopped out from behind corner to give me a hand. Thank you! Oh, and the drip coffee, hot cocoa, latte, banana nut muffin and double chocolate muffin were all great according to my tastebuds and my boys'. Inside is cute. And I love the to go cup wraps. Maybe next time I can just sit and enjoy. read more

I like the coffee art! Been so long since a coffee shop I've been to has put in the effort and skill to do it. I wish it was in a larger cup with a bit more milk, since the amount of milk foam was small and it tasted more like a cortado than a cappuccino. read more

Latte art makes me happy. Any time that I'm up at Big Penn State, I stop at Elixr in the morning for an oat milk latte. The baristas are always quick and friendly. 10/10 latte. I haven't indulged yet, but their breakfast pastries look amazing, especially the croissants. read more

Really great coffee. Got oatmilk lattes with cinnamon and honey, barista was on point that day because it was really yummy. Store is relatively small on a busy street and was packed when I went in. Good customer service and got my latte quickly. read more

I haven't actually been to this one yet, but will on my next trip through Happy Valley. Elixr coffee is outstanding, their beans are well known locally and beyond, as one of the standout roasters in a crowded Philly scene. The 3 bags for $50 is a good deal for the quality of bean you are getting. If you want to know what they can taste like, try a pourover from one of the baristas. read more

Visiting family in town and went in search of an Oatmilk latte. Found a fantastic one at Elixir -caramel smooth coffee and great layer of foam. We were also delighted to discover locally made croissants, pain au chocolat (chocolate croissants), and almond croissants that are to die for! Just as tasty as Paris! Modern cute coffee shop with nice branded ceramic and glassware to serve their coffees and pastries. Their coffee is good, as are their pastries - but the pastries are quite pricey. A single croissant is $7! I guess that's what happens when there's only one French bakery within a 50mile radius. I do appreciate that the croissants come from a local French bakery, so I love that I get to support them. I would recommend getting the Kopi Sanger! read more

I haven't tried any of the treats yet since the business has transitioned from Saints, but I did stop in for a cappuccino the other day. The barista did a great job creating the perfect layer of creamy microfoam to top the rich, smooth espresso underneath. The drink was piping hot and decorated with the most satisfying latte art. I'll definitely stop by again soon. read more

I really enjoyed the attention to detail they put into my oat milk flat white with raw sugar in the bottom. Nice Barista Craftwork commingling the foam . The spoon on the side and the cup and saucer combo were a nice touch making it worth the trip. Fresh warmed chocolate croissant completed the picture. read more

Went to this coffee shop on a whim and I'm glad I did! Coffee was great, I happen to get the cappuccino and had the blueberry muffin as well, based on their recommendation. The coffee was smooth and had great flavor. The muffin was very tasty and light...not dense and overly sweet like muffins tend to be at times. The service was friendly and pretty damn quick. I happen to stick around for a little bit to enjoy what I got and really enjoyed the atmosphere of this smaller shop. read more

After first visiting when they were early in the set-up phase I was disappointed. But after returning on a whim, my fiance and I have loved it here. Their pumpkin spice cappuccino/late is the best we've had in town. Their espresso based drinks are probably the best in the area. It's even great that they serve croissants form the delicious cakeshop by tati. We are big fans of this place now, and is well worth a trip when looking for a great coffee drink. read more

Overpriced coffee in a sterile atmosphere. This place has all of the charm and character of a strip mall in Scottsdale, Arizona. On the other hand, at an Arizona strip mall, you can probably get your shirts cleaned, nails done, and a new cell phone while you drink your uninspired mocha-matcha-chai-latte. Often, I like to go on and on about places, but there really isn't much to say about Elixr, aside from their inability to spell elixir. In fact, I've forgotten it already, and I'm still sitting here. The bottom line is that the coffee is serviceable for a chain but not great and certainly not worth the price. Sadly, however, not many downtown options. read more

Subpar. Coffee is alright, quite weak imo and the lemon cake is overpriced and stale. The vibe is just ok. I'd rather drive further out to Rothrock for better coffee, and cleaner, more spacious environment. read more

I didn't try the coffee this time but I'll update when I do, because that's really the most important thing right? I loved the vibe of the place. The cute little signs everywhere made it feel like they really payed attention to detail. It was super calming. It def draws an "older" crowd which is really refreshing on a college campus. It felt like a work co-op space. The barista was so sweet. I would be her friend. I got a double chocolate chip muffin & it was like the kind you get in Europe. Not too sweet, just perfectly balanced. If the coffee can beat Starbucks, this will be my new favorite place. Don't bother trying any other coffee shop in state college. So far rothrock has the best coffee but I don't feel like driving there everyday. Hoping Elixr can beat it! read more

Coffee is still as good as the saints, however, saints' baristas are so much quicker and friendlier. Seven dollars croissant is a daylight robbery; you can just order from Tati directly and save 2-3 bucks I believed. read more

I ordered a basic poppy bagel (toasted) wiith cream cheese. Service was quick and friendly, with a generous schmear of cream cheese. The bagel was tasty, and in the middle (in my experience) of the amount of poppy seed. I'd definitely recommend Irving's though it is probably a madhouse during the school year so plan your visit accordingly.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with plants all around the windows.
