Everything was really delicious and the lady who served us was really friendly. We sat out on the deck and it was so peaceful. What a perfect stop for us and the kids. Easy going staff--plain croissant for one, even though it wasn't on the menu--relaxed and pretty atmosphere, a beautiful view and damn good coffee and tea. Ham and cheese croissant=good for a cool Sunday morning. BLAT (addition of avocado on a BLT) was delish. Poppy seed muffin--so big and so filling. Also--some toys and a small area for the kids to play. Highly recommend! read more

What a wonderful little surprise! I highly doubted that we would find any decent food in the little spec of a town South Bend, and the first place we looked up online was closed so we ended up here. We were just going to order espresso but after I saw the crate of farm fresh veggies and some healthy choices on the menu, all 3 of us ended up ordering lunch. I had the salad with spinach, bacon, tomatoes etc, we shared a bowl of the salmon chowder and a turkey sandwich that had provolone?, tomato and avocado on a ciabatta bun. All of the food tasted homemade, it was all fresh and flavorful and lean (not smothered in butter or mayo). Wonderful! read more

I was visiting from out of town when we stopped here for breakfast. I had read reviews saying that they had super slow service, but I disagree. My boyfriend and I ordered a bagel, a fruit parfait, a white mocha, and hot tea. It took less that 5 minutes to get the drinks and only 3 or 4 minutes to get the bagel and parfait. The woman who took our order was very nice and helpful in answering all our questions. She even checked on us to make sure everything was the way we liked it! read more

LOOOOOVED this place! We were heading back home to Washington from Astoria, and were looking for a quick lunch spot. Gorgeous view, and the food was to die for. I had the Shipwreck soup (think beef barley, with lots of veggies, no barley and shrimp, clams and fish instead of beef), which I need to recreate and eat EVERY DAY. I also had a half of a good turkey sandwich-freshly made, and a blueberry iced tea. For dessert, we had the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes (I'm reliving it right now). My best friend ordered the lavender lemon Italian soda, which we have decided we must recreate since it's a little too far of a drive whenever we get a hankering. read more

We stopped in at this shop based on the great Yelp reviews. What a disappointment. At first glance, it looks like a nice little coffee and sandwich place. Looks can be deceiving. Customers queue up between the closely spaced tables to place their orders. The manager taking orders and making coffee placed her bare hand inside the garbage can to move it, then continued making drinks. We didn't order coffee after seeing that. The assistant making sandwiches was slow an disorganized. When we finally got our sandwich, I was surprised at the inferior quality of the ingredients and the meager portions. $7.25 for "sandwich served with fruit." The fruit was one small wedge of an orange. A bag of chips would have been another dollar. read more

This was a great little coffee shop! After spending the weekend in South Bend we stopped here on the way out of town for the drive down to Portland. The coffee was delicious and the person working there was extremely helpful in making suggestions for things to try. Didn't have the food, but it looked yummy. Great view. We have stopped here in our travels for several years. It is used to be South Bend Coffee Co. We enjoy the view and relaxed atmosphere very much. Service has always been polite and friendly in our experience. Our drinks, up until this last time have been pretty decent. Here's where things get kind of lost. The young lady behind the counter was VERY pleasant and polite. However, she appears to only be able to process one thing at a time. So she can make your drink, and your friends drink (after yours) but can't seem to process a bagel at the same time. So essentially orders get backed up, and people get stacked up at the counter. Then throw in one of the locals who wants something special, which diverts the worker away from her original task. Thus resulting in a loooooooonnnnngggggg wait for a simple coffee. We were there for over an hour for a couple coffees and bagels. Don't get me wrong, she was exceptionally sweet and kind and apologetic about the delay. She did relate that her coworker should have been there but was someplace else. I watched 2 people leave without ordering because they grew tired of waiting. One couple cancelled their breakfast and only bought coffees. That's lost revenue right there, and potentially a disgruntled customer. I realize we are considered only "Tourists" since we are merely passing through. Unfortunately if you break it down, I'm pretty sure tourists are a large portion of their business. If she weren't so darned nice this would've easily been a one or two star review. They only get a three star. The atmosphere is wonderful. The food was good, the coffee was good (chai latte .. Not so good). Service... Needs some work. I will continue to stop because I like it here. If I'm in a hurry, I'll keep heading down the road. read more

Oh my goodness, I just had the best coffee experience of my entire life. We stopped at Elixir while on our way to Seattle. This stuff is the bomb. Perfect aroma, not too strong, no bitterness. I don't normally even like coffee! This was heavenly. Your barista was perfect. No loud music. She didn't shout invasive personal questions at me. Just pleasant and efficient, that's all I want in the morning. My entire experience so far exceeded my expectations, I'm going to tell everyone I know and I will absolutely be back. The whole world should have the joy of experiencing such a magic concoction first thing in the morning. It could end wars. This place gets 20/10 stars from me. read more

I cannot start my day without a sip of the Batdorf and Bronson Coffee/Espresso from here. In fact their store is loaded with choices including flower arrangements, houseplants, tea and every drink known to the crowds of travelers and locals that hang out here; their breakfast and lunch specials are out-of-this world. They have all the popular bread choices including muffins, scones and cookies and fresh fruit and fruit flavored water as well. Did I mention that their WiFi connects to the internet at lightening speeds? And it's REALLY fast. Their Gift Shop features books and travel postcards, craft made purses, mittens, local honey, mugs and bowls, photo coasters, and framed photography. Viewers are treated to the activities on the busy Willapa River, just a stones throw away. They are open for your Motel departure and their menu is available all day long. Check where you are staying for their winter short hours; they stay open later for the Summer. This location was formerly called the 'Boondocks'. A nice homebody style of atmosphere, with the water at your back door. The girl working was nice and made ordering effortless with nice answers to my questions. Coffee was nice. I ordered a latte. It had a well balanced mixture of a malty roast with vary little acidity. The menu looked great and I was happy to see the extent of food choices that they carry. Needed a break in the drive home after a long weekend at the beach. Found this great little home-spun coffee shop overlooking the river. Good coffee, helpful staff, and colorful decor. The restroom was very clean, and I was perfectly comfortable letting my 2nd grade daughter use the facilities by herself. I am in love! Love the shop, love the cupcakes, love the truffles, love, love, love the tea!!! I was in heaven getting to smell all the teas before deciding what to buy, and what I decided was that I want to try them all! Today we bought raspberry truffle, butterscotch, a morning java blend that has white chocolate in it, and a caffeine free apricot daydream for the kids' tea parties. I have already tried the raspberry truffle and it is AMAZING! The kids love the treats as much as I did and I loved the price of the take home tea by the oz too! Talk about getting a lot of bang for your buck! I am going to tell everyone I know about this place!!! We will defiantly be coming back, and dressing up every time. My girls are calling it the tea party store, and I love that it is a shared space with "Creepy Beautiful". Great store! Great product! Great people!!!!!! What a pleasant treat to experience this quaint Teashop in South Bend! Really Scrumptious blended teas (I tried the Chocolate Velvet Mint) are made to order or sold by the ounce to make at home, along with an array of freshly baked pastries, including cupcakes and truffles. All sorts of Tea accessories line the walls, with artisans adding local flavor...tea cozies, baby Waldorf dolls, and Victorian rose pins to name a few. My husband and I agree that Elixer is small town coziness with big town quality! We will most certainly be back the next time we travel to the coast. read more

Elixir Tea and Herbs is a MUST STOP business in South Bend, WA. I live in Seattle but when I am on the coast I always try to stop by. They have combined the quintessential small town charm with the slightly hip city vibe in their craft drinks, sandwhiches and variety of 'alternative' baked goods that have vegan and gluten free options. The staff, especially Chrissy, go above and beyond to make the experience a wonderful way to spend a coffee hour or lunch. They have fast wifi with gorgeous river front views. Have been there several times since new owner. Am disappointed with coffee and sandwich. My bread seemed to be the cheapest grocery store brand and was dried out like it sat in the open with meager smear of cream cheese. The fruit tasted less than fresh and I threw the coffee in the trash. The place seems to have lost the charm of the previous owner with half dead plants and dead flies and dirty windows to complete the scene that distracts from the view. The service had been iffy as well. Too bad, because we sorely need a decent place in this area. read more

Found this great little shop in South Bend. The window display drew us in with clever home decor and vintage clothes as well as many hand made items that are great for yourself or gifts for others. The back of the shop displays sweet treats and a nice selection of teas to compliment. We were welcomed warmly and felt right at home browsing really nice quality vintage clothing with just enough character to be really fun but also functional. This shop is put together so well, everywhere we looked we discovered something that captured our attention. This place is definitely worth stopping! read more
