We brought lots of snacks and sandwiches also. Although there are only 10 seats, there are plenty of extra seating areas on the cozy boat. We had 19 guests with us. Captain Dave and first Mate Michelle were great hosts. We hooked up our phone to their Bluetooth speaker to play all our favorite songs. We went on the Sunday afternoon Cruise, which took us out along the shoreline out to the Island area and back. It was a lot of fun, laughs, and an overall enjoyable afternoon.

It's not a big house, but they do provide a video background and an iPad introduction where in each room you can play audio on the family, the room, and other background information. Since we were the only ones there, playing the audio was great. If a bunch of people were there, individual audio could get annoying. But there was a lot of good information to play as much or as little as needed. There's a small gift shop, and the whole thing should take about an hour. It's a neat little historical site for someone of whom we have all read their work.

Of course Noah Webster is most well-known for publishing his dictionary, but he also created the "Blue-Backed Speller," which taught generations of children how to spell and read, and played an integral role in advocating for copyright reform. Here's the scoop on this interesting little museum in West Hartford: The museum is open Monday-Sat, 1-4PM. Adult admission is $14. The museum is actually the location of Webster's childhood home. Parking is available on site. Once inside, you will receive an iPad, which will guide you through each room in the house. You can also use your smartphone to scan a QR code and download the tablet tour on your phone. There is a short 15-minute film about Webster's life that you can watch prior to starting the self-guided tour. You can then use the iPad to navigate your way from room-to-room, and the iPad includes an audio narration about the room, what it was used for, etc. Photography/video is allowed. After finishing the tour of the house, there is an educational/demonstration room that you can visit where staff give various presentations on different topics. The day I went, a staff member was demonstrating how the Webster family used to card and spin wool. It was pretty cool! These demonstrations are part of the museum's "Life on the Webster Farm: Work Days" educational series, and are generally the second or third Saturday of each month (visit their website for the full list of dates). Before leaving, you can check out the gift shop which has Noah Webster and West Hartford souvenirs and memorabilia. After I finished at the museum, I took the short drive to Blue Back Square, which I learned was named after Webster's "Blue-Backed Speller." There you'll find a statute of Webster in front of the West Hartford Public Library, as well as the "Webster Walk" with various murals and artwork. Saw the sign for the Pez museum while we were driving around on the first full day of our trip to…read moreConnecticut. Didn't plan on coming here, but glad that we did. The visitor center is located adjacent to the Pez Factory in Orange, CT, being the sole manufacturer for the Pez candy (not the dispenser) for the United States since 1973. Thus most of the large parking lot is filled employee cars, but off to the side is the visitor center along with an ample parking area. Admission is $5 per person, with the remark that $2 of it could be used as credit to purchase anything in the company store. Products for sale are intermingled with antique Pez dispensers, and consists of two stories. Most of the time is spent glancing at dispensers behind glass. To encourage this, a game sheet was given to every entrant: The Close Up Hunt. The goal was to identify the eight close up views of different dispensers, found throughout the museum: basically a scavenger hunt. My wife and I were able to finish it (thanks to her) and the prize was a spin on the prize wheel. I got the emoji Pez while she got the My Little Pony. My wife likes Pez candy (a lot more than the dispensers), so our obvious choice was to buy a self-service bucket of pez candy for $6.99. There were eleven flavors to choose from, and I had fun filling the bucket (and didn't spill any!). The cashier let us know that there was a minimum purchase of $5 for a credit card charge, so ended up choosing a Pikachu dispenser to reach that amount One game was to find and identify 8 different Pez dispensers in the display cases. There were two floors. We were able to identify all of them, and as a prize got to spin a little wheel. I got the emoji Pez dispenser and Odette got the my little pony one. Each $5 ticket gives $2 in credit which we used to buy a bucket of candies. You have to spend at least $5 to use credit card, so bought a Pez dispenser of Pikachu ($2.49) as well. The entire stay was about an hour. The employees are behind transparent glass so we can see them and they us. It's the main packaging area. Guessing the actual making of the candy isn't that fun to watch, and the dispensers are made overseas.

We loved dancing on the boat, trying out the SUP board (included), basically chugging our BYOB drinks (no hard liquor allowed on board), taking pics lounging in the net, gawking at the yachts, and pretending the pool noodles were seahorses that we were riding.
