It's very easy to combine training here with life with a newborn or a toddler. There's a wonderful kids' room and a caring team that takes great care of the little ones, so parents can relax, train, and focus on restoring their bodies with peace of mind. The spa area is excellent. There used to be a eucalyptus park that instantly made you fall in love the moment you stepped inside. Unfortunately, it's no longer in use, but the steam room is still absolutely fantastic. There are also great outdoor summer slides and pools for children. Of course, after so many years of visiting this fitness club, it would be nice to see some updates -- renovations, new features, or refreshed spaces. The kids are already very familiar with everything, and it's not as exciting for them anymore. Overall, Villasport remains a fantastic fitness club that meets all essential standards, in my opinion. The group classes are excellent -- special thanks for Body Pump! Incredible trainers and an outstanding class. Highly recommended

So I asked the gentleman at the front desk and he casually goes, "yeah it's like that every summer." Sir... why was this information guarded like classified military intel?! So bam... hit the weights first trying to look athletic for absolutely nobody, then made my way outside to the pool. Let me tell you something... night swimming with nobody around feels like you accidentally rented out a millionaire's backyard. Quiet, peaceful, and not one kid cannonballing directly next to your face while you're trying to have a spiritual moment floating under the stars. I almost stayed until they kicked me out. This gym honestly has some awesome employees too. Amber always comes in with that motivational energy like she's coaching Rocky before a title fight. Then there's Keith moving around the floor like a gym FBI agent making sure dumbbells make it back home safely. Dude cares about the place and it shows. Now parking... whew. Between 4-7pm it's basically the Hunger Games. Once you see headlights backing out you better commit immediately and believe in yourself. But after 9pm? Different universe. Feels like you own the place. Wide open equipment, peaceful vibe, and enough room to finally do lunges without accidentally ending up in somebody's protein shake.

All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a court (pickleball, tennis, racquetball, or squash) or a swim lane for free with your membership. The North facility has 25 tennis courts. All our tennis and pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm! Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found at both North and South facilities. The North facility has a sauna and steam room. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are in the South facility. Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes: 10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun) Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B) Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row! The food and drink menus at both the North and South cafes are extensive. I like the Chicken Caesar Salad for around $8 and love the $1 slushies! I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. I heard the smoothies were good from a personal trainer. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice. Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. Unfortunately, my experience last night 02/27/2026 was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. For context, this facility has two soccer fields: one requires check-in for league play, and the other can be privately booked, which does not require check-in. My group had booked the smaller field for the evening, as we have done many times before. As I entered the facility, an employee named Isabelle stopped me by whistling at me from a distance. I found this extremely disrespectful and demeaning, as it felt as though I was being called over like an animal rather than addressed as a paying customer. In my four years coming here, no employee has ever treated me this way. When I approached, she spoke to me in a harsh and aggressive tone, asking, "What are you doing here? Where are you going? What's your name?" I calmly explained that I was there to play on the smaller field and that check-in was not required because it was not league play. She interrupted me, raised her voice, and began walking toward me in an intimidating manner, insisting that I could not go to the field without checking in. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and continued demanding my name in an aggressive tone. I later saw her name tag and noted it myself. Even after a front desk employee confirmed my identity to her, she continued questioning me and even referred to me as "little boy," which was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Shortly after, she and another employee approached my teammates on the field and spoke to them in the same rude and disrespectful manner, insisting we needed to check in despite the field being privately booked. By that point, my entire group felt uncomfortable and offended by the way we were being treated. I do want to note that the other employee, Bladea, later apologized to me and my friend when Isabelle was not around, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was still very upsetting and should never happen to customers. As a long-time customer who brings consistent business to this facility, I expect to be treated with basic respect and professionalism. There is a difference between enforcing policies and speaking to customers in a hostile, demeaning way. This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I strongly encourage management at In-Shape Health Clubs to address this matter and provide additional customer service training so no other customers are treated in this manner.

Lifetime Folsom is not a gym... it's a full-blown civilization…read more Met a friend here for a workout, and since she's not a member, we had to do the whole guest pass process first. You know... the "tap here, sign here, acknowledge that squats may humble you today" routine. But I've got to give credit where it's due -- the front desk made it ridiculously easy. They were handling a phone call and getting my friend squared away at the same time, and somehow still made it all look smooth. No chaos, no confusion, no "uhhh let me get my manager." Just straight-up professionalism. The second we walked in, she looked around and said, "Is this a city or a gym?" I said, "Honestly... both." Because Lifetime Folsom is not for the weak or the directionally challenged. This place has everything. Pool, spa, cafe, workout floors, recovery zones, pickleball, tennis, locker rooms that feel fancier than some apartments... at one point I'm pretty sure if you turn the wrong corner you accidentally enroll in a wellness retreat. And my favorite part? The confidence people have before a workout. She came out of the locker room with that movie trailer energy like, "Alright, let's do this." Looking at me like, "Bring it." And I did. I coached her through the workout, and for the first 20 minutes she was hanging in there strong. Then somewhere around that 1 hour and 30 minute mark, the spirit left the body. By the end, the look had changed from "I got this" to "I would like to formally unsubscribe." And honestly? Respect. Because the workout was solid. We laughed the whole time, had great conversation, and got after it. That's what I love about Lifetime -- whether you're going hard or just trying to survive the stair climber without seeing your ancestors, it somehow still feels fun. After we wrapped up, we grabbed our stuff and headed to the cafe because recovery was no longer optional. She needed a pick-me-up, and honestly, probably a new set of legs. We grabbed shakes, sat down, and started coming back to life. Then out of nowhere she goes, "Ummm... tacos?" And I looked at her like she had just spoken the Lord's language and said, "Yes." Then she hits me with, "I got the spot. Follow me." Now THAT is elite leadership. So basically this place gave us: a killer workout, laughs, smoothies, and the launching point for Taco Tuesday. What more do you want from a gym? A zip code? Actually... Lifetime might already have one. In all, Lifetime Folsom continues to prove it's way more than just a gym. It's an experience. It's a fitness amusement park. It's where confidence goes to get tested and where post-workout taco plans are born. And honestly... that's beautiful.
