We purchased a new car trailer for $2,900 from this company. The price was good; however, in order…read moreto be able to use the trailer we had to spend an additional $200 to modify the ramps. The way the ramps were made, they had to be turned around after removing them from the slots which was a heavy and cumbersome process. In addition, the ramps had sharp edges which could have easily punctured a car tire. We had to have the ramps modified so when we slide them out we do not have to turn them around to mount them, plus the sharp edges had to be ground down. In addition, there was bare metal under the trailer (top deck and frame were painted but underneath was bare metal) so it needed to be sealed and undercoated. Overall other than the modifications we had to make, we are happy with the trailer.

I spent over $4,000 on a brand-new zero-turn mower from TERPSTRA'S. Two months later, the clutch…read morecompletely failed. I dropped the mower off for warranty service and also requested an oil change and blade sharpening. Nearly three weeks passed with absolutely no communication from the service department. No phone call, no update, no explanation. I had to call them to find out what was wrong with my own mower. When I finally spoke with Ron, the service manager, he was short, dismissive, and unwilling to answer my questions about why a major component would fail after only two months or whether I had any options for an exchange or refund. Then my husband called, and suddenly the mower was ready for pickup. The oil change and blade sharpening I requested were never done. The manager offered excuses instead of accountability, including telling me weekends "don't count" as part of the nearly three weeks they had my mower. I bought a brand-new mower because I have a large property and needed reliable equipment. Instead, I got a major mechanical failure after two months, weeks without my mower during peak mowing season, poor communication, and dismissive customer service. Spending over $4,000 apparently does not guarantee reliable equipment or basic customer service at TERPSTRA'S. I will take my business elsewhere and would not recommend their sales or service department.

Doug from Northwest Indiana home inspection came out and inspected the house I am buying. He went…read morethrough the whole house. It took a few hours. He pointed out things to me as he went along. I had an inspection done for an older house I was purchasing. I felt confident after the inspector…read moreleft; however, after moving into my house, I soon discovered something major that was missed. When investigating the best way to remove tiles from my basement, I discovered my floor tiles could be asbestos. This was never mentioned by the inspector. In fact, he told us we should replace the flooring because it was cracking and damaged. I sent a sample out to a lab and my fears were confirmed. With a one year old daughter, this is not acceptable conditions to have in my house. Now I am stuck paying $3000 to have the asbestos removed because the floor tiles are in such bad shape. I contacted NWI Inspection Service and spoke with Dennis. He seemed to be apologetic, but mentioned that he cannot for sure say whether or not I was offered asbestos testing over the phone. I told him I was not, but regardless, an inspector should suspect asbestos floor tiles and suggest testing be done. This would've allowed me to negotiate a better price on the house. He agreed with me. After we hung up, I forwarded him the emails that were about scheduling the appointment to prove there was no mention of asbestos testing. I told him I believed he should pay for it and my family attorney believed he should as well. He responded claiming that this is not something a trained inspector would be able to notice by the naked eye except through a lab test, which I didn't ask for. He then copied the pre-agreement I signed where it states they are not responsible for testing or mentioning hazardous materials. As a business, I find this to be completely unacceptable. Are we supposed to ask about asbestos testing before we suspect asbestos in the house? Shouldn't the inspector tell us he suspects it? What is the point of an inspection if they won't point those things out? We relied upon NWI Home Inspection Service to make sure my house was safe for my family. If the inspector had told us he suspected asbestos, it would've been taken care of before we ever bought the house. If you see this company and need an inspection, I would advise you to move on. Besides the asbestos floor tile that was missed, two leaking hot water pipes were missed as well. This is very disappointing and very costly!

We found Arnie and Affordable Electrical Repair twice for two different problems and from two…read moreentirely different recommendation sources and were completely pleased with the ability of he and his limited staff to be honest, professional, and completely reasonable both times. 1) We made the mistake of borrowing a roto-rooter machine from a retired plumber relative to troubleshoot puddling lake water at my wife's parents home. The machine's barrel/bucket thing(?) that turns and shoots out the wire cable from the rooter machine would only shoot our 45 feet when we were told it was a 75 foot machine. We actually had 4" pipe yard drain problems at 65 feet out. We went to a local rental yard for a machine that was in more functional state to solve the yard problems but what to do with our borrowed rooter? The rental place identified a repair shop in Crown Point that did that type of tool inspections as we didn't wish to return a non-working tool to our relative. So we rushed over to this little shop where the sweet counter person brought out someone to decode the problems we were relating to her. Someone came out to look at our rooter tool and with our consent and total delight had the wire cable unkinked and laid out over 75 feet of his driveway. That took large crow bars and lots of strength to accomplish. They reloaded that wire cable correctly into the rooter machine's barrel/bucket and gave us further instructions on how to maintain it between jobs. Nice! And our retired relative never realized that another of his family had previously returned the machine to him in a damaged condition... 2) a home we own was experiencing breaker tripping in the main box's main circuit and in the garage garage circuit when it rained. We went to the home's town hall and requested a list of certified or approved electrical companies who were approved to do work in that town. We selected "Affordable Electrical Repair" solely because of the first word in their company's name. We were given an available appointment time two weeks into the future as we hoped that we had started on the correct path. After Arnie listened to the tenant's observations from rain events and after inspecting the property layout/circuit loading, Arnie advised concrete removal from the house and garage exterior sidewalks to inspect the "common problem" locations. He and his helper did that removal work and eureka found a hidden, unsealed and moist underground electrical splice that was in the process of vaporizing! With minimal disruption to the tenant the repair/reconstruction work was completed to our amazement. Arnie had connections to trusted trade partners(?), like the concrete guy(awesome) who finished of the job leaving me with only needing to pay my fair share and leave the tenant with some grass seed to fill in minor patches near the sidewalks, weather permitting.
