When I put out the request in Yelp for estimates on a new hot water heater and install, Pete and Elite Plumbing was not only the first to respond but also ended up with the most competitive bid. I pinged him multiple times to ensure I wasn't missing any hidden cost or fees. He replied quickly and thoroughly to all my questions. The estimate seemed too good to be true plus I had also seen some mixed reviews on Yelp so I wanted to be sure I did the extra due diligence before making a decision. Not all plumbing jobs are the same and things that happened during the big Texas storm early in 2021 I had to take with a grain of salt. After confirming all the details with Pete and researching more online, I trusted him and his team with the job. As a bonus, his team was ready to start work the very next day so we got it on their schedule. Communication throughout the engagement was great. They showed up in the window they gave me. They finished the work fast, efficiently and professionally. Everything went smoother than I even expected and I was very pleased with the work and overall experience. Over the weekend, we had our first solid freeze in San Antonio. Christmas Eve, I was out delivering presents and Christmas Dinners to family members. Sitting there enjoying a football game with my brother in law, I get this feeling that I better go home. I said my fair wells and left. I get home to a geyser in my front yard. As I go to the back yard to get my water cutoff tool from the shed I see a second geyser in my back yard. I get my water cutoff tool and shut off the water from the main. I spent the next few hours calling every plumbing company I could think of that I have done business with or seen commercial from with either phone services not working properly or not answering calls even though they advertised 24/7 availability. I don't know how I ended up on The Yelp service request but I had a few replies with availability in 7 to 10 days. Pete from Elite plumbing sent me a message stating he could have one of his guys at my house house on Monday at 8:00AM. I asked him about if I could put that on the calendar and he said yes. This is now Saturday evening and I'm like ok, Monday is not bad. I decided to try several other places and apparently San Antonio had a lot of broken pipes during this freeze because Monday was the soonest I could find. I thanked Hod for that. Cleaned up the mess as best I could and waited fir Monday. This Morning, Monday, I get a message from Pete, ELITE Plumbing, my service repair guy will be there between 9:45 to 10:45 AM if that is ok. At this point I'm just glad to get verification that someone has is coming. At 9:45, a young man by the name of Ezekiel, drove up and introduced himself. He was very pleasant and professional. I showed him where the damaged pipes were, he accessed the damage parts and said, I have everything I need to get this taken care of. I asked him if he was by himself and he said yes. I asked him if he needed anything, he said no, I'll just get my tools and get to work. In less than two hours, he was done with the repairs, cleaned up and said" give me a few minutes and I'll have this written up. I was very impressed with Ezekiel and Elite Plumbing. Not only were they prompt, professional and delivered great service, they were very reasonable as well. I made an appointment to have a leak repaired. On the day of the appointment I noticed the leak wasn't there anymore so I texted the gentleman I had been texting the entire time to set up the appointment to cancel. He instructed me that next time I should call instead of text because his technician was already at my residence (He wasn't) and that's how they keep costs down. Well he had already estimated the repair to be $175 without even knowing what was wrong. These people are money hungry. He sent me an invoice. I'm not gonna lie, I've been eyeballing disposals since I moved into my new house. My old life did not involve a screen over my drain and produce matter in varying stages of decomposition in a compost bucket on our kitchen counter. I didn't want one of those anemic one-third horsepower disposals. I wanted the sort of disposal that could safely dispose of such a disposal. I wanted something that takes rice and coffee grinds or an "InSinkErator 1/3 HP Disposal" and eats it for lunch. So I waited and eventually Costco had an American Standard on sale - running a whopping 1.25 horsepower for $69.99. "Good luck installing it [cackle]", the cashier said to me on the way out, as he laughed in an evil fore-shadowy manner. So rather then mess up my plumbing and causing a leak under my sink like last time I decided to hire a pro. "It's a garbage disposal Michael, how much can it cost to install, ten dollars?" Turns out its not that cheap. $250 from my plumber, the guy who has done work on my house before. I told him I would get a few quotes and call back, which was a lie. Mr. Rooter thought my sink was made of gold or something, because they quoted me $240 - $340. Beyer plumbing: unable to provide a quote without a phone number, yuck. BG: $175. My plumber texts, he's down to $175 b/c he realizes I'm a repeat customer. Meanwhile Pete from Elite responded quickly to the online quote request, was at $125 flat rate, and was able to schedule someone to be here in an hour or so even though my request was not a time sensitive one. It was a no brainer. I had a second plumbing issue - a contractor had routed my dishwasher drain cord through a cabinet. Elite helped me fix that on-site as well at additional charge. After a phone and two texts confirming the appointment no one showed. We texted asking for the status of the appointment and called leaving a message which both went unanswered. We were now behind everyone else trying to get someone to come out and fix the problem. By the time we were able to get another plumber to respond it was 10 days later. LITERALLY CALL ANY OTHER PLUMBER. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Update: As of 3/12/21 we still have yet to receive any type of response back from the company with answers, except for replies to social media reviews. I called them and they came to my house to diagnose the issue and stated they needed $2200 just to schedule the appointment. Then a week later, on Saturday, they called me at the time they were scheduled to show up for the job and asked if they could reschedule for Monday. At that point I had been without water for 13 days, so of course I said no and they came. They had to cut a small hole in the wall under my kitchen sink to fix the issue. This was such a small job that they had it completed in two hours. Also, let it be known that the days they came out was AFTER the storm. Safe and sun shining conditions. After it was all said and done they charged me $1900 on top of the $2200. Over $4100 dollars for less then 3 hrs of work.. so $1366/hr. I requested a itemized bill to see why it would cost this much. I still have yet to receive a email or phone call for over a week even though I have been calling and leaving messages everyday. How disgusting does a company have to be to price gouge a family during desperate times. We aren't the only ones this has happened to. I would give negative stars if I could. After the snow here, I had the company come out to repair a pipe. I had to wait 2 days for them to come which would have been okay except he charged extra for "emergency service" which I'd understand if it was same day but it wasn't. Also, I was charged an ASTRONOMICAL amount of $400 for less than an hour of work and since have spoken to several plumbers who say I was basically robbed and taken advantage of because I was a single woman. I have tried to contact company with no response and have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and seeking legal advice. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! UPDATE 5/21- Response from business owner saying that I received an estimate before service was provided is completely false, never happened. Also never told of the additional "travel charge" (Helotes is all of 8 minutes from my house). A family member was there to witness the event and even gave the suggestion on how to fix the issue which was just cut a piece of the sheet rock out and cut the pipe above the leak and just cap it off, a job that took less than an hour. Also was told when I called that only same day service was considered "emergency", so not sure why an appointment 2 days later would require the up charge. And to imply that the price is MY FAULT because I couldn't find another plumber(which isn't the case, I went with this company because they are so close to my house) is a completely arrogant and asinine statement. Finally, they left the work area a complete mess. No manipulation tactics from the owner response on "how they took care of customers instead of family" will change this review. NOT a good experience, at all. sprang a leak after the recent freeze and called Elite after the leak detection service found the source. Simple cap replacement behind some drywall which was already partially removed to expose the affected area was required. Plumber shows up (an hour late according to dispatch and text with no call) and has his apprentice take a look. I go upstairs and my wife comes up telling me that this guy wants $400. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. To remove a less than 1 sq foot portion of drywall, cut a pipe and add a cap. I go down to tell him to get out and his reasoning for the insane price is that he had to "cut drywall and take insulation out". I snapped back that took him all of 4 minutes and he suddenly recalculated the job at $240 which is STILL too much. If I hadn't waited a week I would have kicked him out. The best part of all of this? This guy didn't even have the cap that he needed to do the job. I gave him a spare that I had on hand!!! Otherwise he was about to try to leave to "pick up a part". So if you want a late, dishonest plumber to show up and try to rip your wife off, then call these guys. When the owner of the company has to constantly reply to poor reviews it's pretty clear that the focus off the company is off. Worry more about the services you provide and your employees and maybe the bad reviews start to clear up. read more

DO NOT CALL - WORK NOT UP TO CODE Over the 2021 winter freeze, our hot water heater gave out plus the overflow pipe froze - what a mess. Elite did come out to replace the heater but knew they had us over the barrel - charged $1000 more than any other service ( who were not able to come out over the freeze). We then had another plumber come out a week later to check to see if overflow pipe had cracked - and they took pictures and wrote up an explanation showing how the connections were not up to code ( with a gap so that could leak!), the heater and overflow pan were all banged up ( with the glass insulation of a heater, there could be cracks on the inside), and the overflow pan was not centered correctly - so that if water did come out of the pipe, it would drip down on out floors and walls)!!!!!!!!!!! We are looking into taking ELITE to court for this scam. read more
