Still having the same problems for 2-3 years since I first came to them. They don't care to fix them and are uninterested.

I really don't appreciate that when I get my child's teeth cleaned that only a dental assistant does the cleaning procedure and within 5 minutes she's finished. She barely counted the teeth. She took two bite wing x-rays that came out rather dark for my liking. I couldn't see every tooth surface in those 2 X-rays well, so was unable to fully read it. She didn't floss every tooth. She complained that my daughters teeth are too tight to floss. She didn't scale the teeth with the dental instruments to take away any plaque or calculus. She didn't use a mouth mirror or explorer to check any teeth. She didn't have enough Prophy paste application in the prophylaxis instrument to thoroughly brush her teeth. Once it was gone she didn't apply anymore so that to me it's like brushing with no paste. My daughter couldn't rinse out after the prophy paste cleaning with water or mouthwash. She said spit in a bib. I don't call that a thorough cleaning. I learned dentistry and worked there in tufts university of pediatric dentistry and I worked in two private offices also for many years. and I've assisted the dentist with every possible dental procedure in every dental specialty. I'm very particular in how I do everything. I've never cleaned the teeth by myself alone/unsupervised. A dental hygienist did that. I assisted the dentist with everything as a team. A good cleaning for a child is up to 30 minutes not 5 minutes. The dentists should think through how they set up their office and how they perform the dental procedures more carefully. It upsets me that the assistant has to do everything by herself. She might as well be a dentist. She's a underpayed hygienist in my opinion. It infuriates me to know you let them clean the children's teeth in five minutes and think the job is finished well. That to me is called brushing their teeth only. What made me more upset is when the dentist dr tarifard came she used the explorer a little said it looks clean anyway but let me check the X-ray just in case, then put fluoride and says drink water after the fluoride. I've never heard of this. You rinse your mouth after the cleaning then when you are done rinsing you put the fluoride on and keep it there. That's my preferable way of doing it. The time there was a waste of our time. The dentist says She can eat now and then says don't brush her teeth tonight. The dentist and assistant knew I'm a dental assistant and they asked do you assist now I said I did since I'm 14 years old in high school and I'm 32 now and when I had my daughter I chose to stay home and take care of her fully and their response is oh now you take care of one child now not many children like us. Good job mommy keeping her teeth good. I was so irritated I will never bring my daughter back there again. I will take her to a well educated hospital. Not a half job private practice. Do a better job for people! A dental assistant job is to assist the dentist not be a pretend hygienist or dentist! I only gave one star to the receptionist for being kind to us. She is pleasant. I specifically asked the assistant why are you cleaning the teeth by yourself and she says because the way I am with them is good. I would never understand that. You don't have the title to do the cleaning procedure by yourself. That's called a dental hygienist. Call me old fashioned. But that's the way I was taught. I might as well do the cleaning myself at home if that's the case. That's really a no no. A hygienist has to do it. In my opinion, A dental assistant can do everything possible by helping/assisting the dentist with everything, not doing the whole cleaning procedure unsupervised or just cleaning the operatory and suction the mouth and poke at teeth. That's doing nothing. Five minutes is not a dental procedure. Before I came to west roxbury smiles, I researched that The dentist dr tarifard did the three year program in tufts pediatric dentistry department. So I thought oh she's like me. They will be good dentist then. but sadly I found out she still doesn't do the procedures as they taught her. She makes the assistant do it. It's poke a little look then say everything is clean. I was in tufts pediatric also for many more years than that. They do step by step thoroughly. I didn't show anger because my daughter was with me but I am very upset with west Roxbury smiles in the way they do things. I know A nice hospital hygienist will do the procedures much better than this office did.

Just an FYI to parents. Smileland pediatric dentist formerly Connors Pediatric Dental in Norwood…read more We have been bringing out now 6 year old to Dr Connors for years but since the Smileland takeover they have added new dentists and seem to be corporate driven. At our recent cleaning visit we did X-rays and was told that our child had 4 cavities AND needed a crown!! Now she brushes her own teeth and prob doesn't do the best job but this seemed a little excessive so I brought her to my own dentist for a second opinion. When I showed him the X-rays he didn't see anything that needed a crown.... When I pointed it out he said "oh that's a filling.... Maybe she isn't comfortable with fillings so she prefers crowns but I would definitely do a filling there..." then I ask about the 4 others and he said he only saw one other spot that we could either watch and wait or do a small filling now.... Otherwise it was just the shading!! We will be doing the filling with him and then finding a new pediatric dentist! Dr Connors was always great but this new company is in my opinion sketchy. This was just our recent experience but I had previously heard things about Smileland so I wanted to to share.

The latest one was when my youngest (4yo) had cavities, I asked dr. Connor to explain to me about the situation and what treatment should be done. She said: "You don't really need to understand, I am the Doctor, that's why I went to school." I felt that was very unacceptable for a Doctor to say to any parent, but decided to just stay put. Thinking maybe she had a bad day or something. The following week I came with my Son for the treatment, Dr. Connor never once tried to make any conversation or even greeted us during the visit. The whole time we were there she was busy gossiping with her assistant while doing the treatment and completely ignored us. She never explain the treatment to me, I was so surprised to see dark color filling was used. My Son felt the numbness from the anesthetic for the rest of the day (more than 9 hours), he bit his lips to the point that it was bleeding and badly swollen. After reading multiple similar experiences from other people in FB, I decided to move all my three kids from there.

Back when my family and I moved to the south shore we began searching for the best dentist for our children. We stumbled upon this place and thought it looked great so me made an appointment. On the day of the visit everything was fine , I checked my daughter in while my husband waited in the waiting room. My daughter has always had issues with her teeth , cavities, weak gums ext . As the dentist was examining my daughters teeth he began shaking his head and sucking his teeth. That's when the criticizing began . He began to judge me as a parent and as a mother. "You need to be stronger with her" " A mother is always on top of her children" "Be a better parent this is not the way to do it" " if you eat less sweets you will even look better" all this to me and my then 8 year old. I was so heart broken and devastated that I trusted this doctor to help me with my daughters issue and instead he chose to judge me and criticize my parenting skills. I never took my babies back. I did find a great dentist in Norwood where we later found out my daughter had Enamel hypoplasia. It makes children's enamel very soft and prone to damage! I hope people see this and think twice before paying this place a visit!
