Overall a good experience! The staff who took my order at the front was soooo nice! I got the beef shawarma pita wrap for the Yelp event then my partner came with me and paid to get the beef kebab plate to try. I will say that the food itself was good but didn't have a wow factor like there are definitely other middle eastern food places that I enjoy more but this place was still good! The portion size for the pita wrap was decent (see photo with hand for size comparison) and there was a good amount of the beef shawarma inside (see photo with bite taken out) the beef wasn't too dry and was seasoned well. We also got little containers of this red slightly spicy and tangy sauce and little containers of a diced citrusy veggie chickpea salad(?) the sauce and salad definitely helped add some good flavor to the pita wrap to make it more interesting and flavorful!! Location wise there's a decent amount of street parking in the area. This is definitely more of a grab and go style place I would say but they do have a decent amount of seating if you do want to eat at the restaurant! Service was pretty fast. Overall, decent food and great service! This probably won't become a go to for me but I'm glad I got to try shawarma house thanks to Yelp elite for planning this elite experience! And thanks to shawarma house for having us!

Great location near the OB farmers market! Easy to find with very friendly service. I was a bit disappointed that our only options were between wraps or egg rolls because I prefer plates where my ingredients aren't pre-mixed. That being said, I got the Falafel Pita and it wasn't dry at all! I appreciated the owner's son, Matt, reassuring me it wouldn't be. It was a bit too heavy on the sauce, but really enjoyable otherwise. My guy got the Chicken Shawarma Pita, which I thought was okay. I liked my pita better because it had a stronger flavor profile. Would definitely come here again and try more options!

We decided to have our evening Sunday meal from Shawarma house. What I like about this location is that they are super efficient and the food quality is good. When we arrived, there was one customer waiting on an order. The place was empty and it's very clean and welcoming. They have about eight or nine dining tables in the main dining room, and then there's a bar top seating where you can look out at the street. I let the gentleman at the front know that I was there for the Elite event. He handed me a Yelp Elite menu and then he asked my husband if he would be ordering from the regular menu, then he handed him a regular menu. I needed to verify what we were allowed to order because I originally believed that I would get an entrée and a side, but the young gentleman informed me that I would only be getting an entrée not a side and not an appetizer. I ordered the euro wrap with a regular side of falafel and my husband ordered a combo plate. It was nice to be able to watch the NFL football game while we waited for our food to go. I had a chance to go visit the viewing window of the kitchen where the owner was in the process of preparing food. He waved at me and smiled. I remember him from the last you'll be here last year and it was nice to see that they had really spruced up the place. I felt better in knew that I could trust him preparing my food because we could see right into the kitchen and they weren't trying to hide anything. They have beverages in two refrigerated cases and they have all types. I love that they have pistachio baklava available if you're interested in that. I knew that I would be too full to enjoy the baklava, but I do know that it looked delicious. After about 7 to 10 minutes, our order was ready and packaged up to go. And we brought it home to enjoy. It was very good and freshly made and well prepared. We did get a side of a cucumber like salsa with cucumbers, onions, and Greek dressing. That was a nice touch for our plates. We also ordered an 8 ounce tub of tzatziki as a side because we love tzatziki sauce. I did find it to be a bit pricey at $9. Paragraph although our food was delicious it was quite pricey, even with the Elite free falafel wrap. We paid $60 for my husband's combo plate, a side of falafel, and a side of tzatziki. We didn't get any drinks and we didn't get any baklava. I know that we are by the beach and that is probably why it cost so much but for my experience here, I'm going to give it a four stars base just on the pricing. Customer service was great and the food was delicious. I respect this business and I love that they are at the beach offering their delicious food. THANK YOU SHAWARMA HOUSE for this generous elite event food. Thank you Hannah for organizing this great food at the beach!

Thanks for yelp and shawarma house for letting me try this place out! The process was super easy checking in. They gave us a menu to pick out one item and I chose the portion wrap which was half beef and half chicken. The cashier was really nice explaining their food since it was my first time there. It was about a 5 min wait I got the order to go. The wrap I got was huge. The wrap was perfectly crispy , meat was tender with many flavorful fillings. The wrap comes with a side of sauce and has a good kick to it. But I do see a lot of other elites had a small side salad and I didn't get to try it, oh well but Overall this was good to try out their wraps!

Another opportunity to try another one of their favorites. Huge thank you to Shawarma House and its workers for hosting this event, and to our CM, Hannah, for putting this together! I got their Gyro Pita Wrap, and my boyfriend got their Chicken Shawarma Pita. My wrap was quite big but it was filled mainly with lettuce. The meat was very tender. The chicken shawarma pita was HUGE in comparison. Full of flavor with lots of filling including meat and vegetables. It also had a nice crispy texture which was quite nice. The sides complemented both wraps. We both shared a baklava as our wraps were being prepared. It was delicious! We learned that the baklava was homemade by a relative who owns a bakery. Overall, a great place for good portioned, quality food. We will be back in the future!

I appreciate Shawarma House for being so generous to invite the Yelp Elites back for some delicious food. I decided to come by during lunch hour on a Wednesday. I found parking right away in front of the restaurant. I was greeted right away and presented with the Yelp Elite menu which listed several choices of wraps and egg rolls. I chose the Beef Shawarma Pita. I also purchased a Chicken Cream Chop Pita. They each came with a small side salad and some hot sauce. I took my lunch to go so I could split each wrap with my husband. They were both delicious, but my favorite was the Beef Shawarma, as it had this amazing mix of spices. The hot sauce helped set off the flavors and the small salad was a nice cool treat on the side. Shawarma House has delicious food and is located right near the beach. I will definitely return. Thanks Yelp, Hannah and Shawarma House for this great lunch!

I almost missed the opportunity to enjoy this Elite Experience because I was having one of those weeks that wasn't allowing me to get out here. So first thing Sunday morning, I secured a parking spot across the street and arrive 10 minutes before they open. It looked like a team of two opening shop when I arrived. Mathios, the owner notice he have two patrons patiently waiting so he came and unlocked the door and welcomed us inside. I preview the menu before hand, I decided to try their Gyro Pita and the Portion Egg rolls. I had the pups waiting at home so I ordered it ToGo. I chatted with Mathios briefly about catering and they have great options including delivery. While waiting for my food, another Yelp Elite and I chatted it up. One of the many things I love about the Yelp Elite Community, everyone has been so kind to me. I made some friends too. Fast forward 10ish minutes. Food is package with all the sauces, utensils and napkins. I let Mathios know I was headed straight home so he could keep the napkins and I utensils for the next ToGo order. The food smelled heavenly, it was a 15 minute drive home. Seeing as it was too much food for me alone, I opted to share with my neighbor who gladly accepted. We both agreed everything was tasty. He would have like to have a little hummus and I would have love just a little more cucumber salad. The portions were generous, the egg rolls were jam packed with meat that is why I need more cucumber salad for eat bite. I loved the garlic sauce drizzle on the egg rolls. I didn't love the Tzatziki sauce, but I'm spoiled with my Greek neighbor who makes it for me. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the vicinity and book them for catering my events. Thank you kindly Shawarma House and Yelp for hosting us!

Great location on the main strip of Newport Ave near the beach! Immediately upon entering it is an open restaurant to the outdoors and the weather was perfect! The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I opted to get the chicken shawarma and it came with a cucumber side salad. The salad was so light, tasty, and refreshing that I ate it all before I even touched the pita sandwich. Now onto the sandwich itself. The chicken had great flavor and the lettuce and tomato tasted very fresh. I am thankful to Hannah and the Yelp team for this experience. It's near antique shopping and post office I need to go to. We made a whole half day out of it and made me rediscover how much I love Ocean Beach. We plan to go back more often to re-experience this again!

This is a cute little casual dine in/take out spot on Newport near Cable Street. Everyone was very nice especially the friendly lady who took my order of a Chicken Shawarma Wrap. It came out, fresh & hot, in about five minutes. It was generously portioned & came with a mini chopped salad & a sweet and spicy pepper sauce. The pita was very tasty, and I appreciated that it had fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, chopped pickles & feta cheese on it. The chicken shawarma was so delicious, I only wish there was more of it inside the wrap! The pepper sauce added a nice little hit of flavor to it as well. We sat inside at one of the four tops. They also have some stools facing the window, additional indoor tables, and a couple of tables on the sidewalk. It was a beautiful day, and it was great to spend lunchtime here. Parking is free on the street, and we had no trouble finding a nearby spot. Weekends could be a bit more challenging. Thank you Yelp, Hannah, Darcy & Shawarma House for this delicious opportunity. Peace!

One thing I love about Yelp events is being introduced to places I may not have discovered or haven't been to since they reinvented themselves otherwise, and Shawarma House was definitely a delicious find! I stopped by on a Tuesday evening, and when I tell you I could smell the food before I even reached the door... I am NOT exaggerating! That aroma was traveling down the sidewalk basically saying, "Come on in, Auntie!" My nose was ordering before I even got inside! I received a warm and friendly greeting, and I loved seeing all the options on the Yelp menu. I decided to try the Chicken Shawarma Pita, even though I'm usually NOT a pita/flatbread girl. My stomach can be sensitive to certain flatbreads, so I normally would have gone straight for a bowl. BUT...I saw that the Chicken Shawarma Pita had a for being one of their most popular items, so I figured, "Okay, let me trust the people!" Baby...I'm SO glad I did! The pita was packed with juicy, tender, flavorful chicken and fresh vegetables. Every bite was delicious, and I immediately understood why it's a popular favorite. The cook even cut my pita upon request and did it perfectly. You can tell there is attention to detail and pride in the food here. The restaurant is on the smaller side but has plenty of room for small groups, plus patio seating. Parking can get tricky around sunset because of the nearby beach traffic, so plan accordingly. Would I order the Chicken Shawarma Pita again? ABSOLUTELY! Aye!!!! Honestly, it was so good I'm already thinking about coming back tomorrow! But I'm serious!!! Shawarma House has officially gained a new fan. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, and a huge THANK YOU to the Yelp team for another great experience!

Was excited to try this place after getting to sample them at the art after dark event. Located on the main strip of OB. Came on a Sunday at 6 and it wasnt busy at all. I got the chicken shawarma pita to go. After ordering the food was ready after 5 or so minutes. The pita was a very large size and they must have pressed it on the flatop since the pita ends up being a little crispy on the sides. Even after the 20 min ride home it was still crispy. The meat was flavorful and plentiful. The pickles added a nice crunch and tanginess. The garlic sauce inside was also delish. It was a little messy to eat since the meat was falling out of both sides.

Chicken shwarma pita - yummy

Chicken shawarma pita - delicious, i got a side of Tzatziki sauce and I thought it paired really well the pita I also added the portion eggroll to my order and I think the Beef shawarma eggroll was by far my favorite thing I tried The chicken eggroll is good too but the beef is next level The cashier when I went on Saturday for lunch was friendly Thank you Yelp and Shawarma House for some amazing food. I'll be back!

It's always nice to be part of an Elite Experience that is highlighting a local small business. For the experience, I had the chicken shawarma wrap and I ordered a falafel appetizer. The shawarma wrap was very good. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The sauce it came with was very good, too. The falafel were tasty but they could have used a few more minutes in the fryer because the inside was a little under done and wet. The hospitality was very friendly. The father and son team were welcoming and both had a good sense of humor. Thank you team for inviting the San Diego Yelp Community.

I got to Liberty station shortly after the event began, and parking was still plentiful. While the line looked intimidating, it moved pretty quickly after they began organizing multiple lanes. Lines for food inside the event also moved pretty quickly, and I was able to eat my taco while waiting for my next bite. There were a ton of wine and spirits options but some nonalcoholic beverage options as well. The restaurants that showed up showed OUT. While they did start running out towards the end of the event, there were a lot of quality ingredients on display. There was a live band that really set the mood, and lots of cute decor. There were definitely more booths than I had time or stomach space to hit. I think I literally ate 10 tacos and several beverages, and was so stuffed that I had to drink pu'er tea for digestion when I got home. I sampled fantastic shrimp tacos, ceviche, steak, street tacos, and more creative offerings including a Korean inspired taco and a bbq inspired taco. I did not stay for the taco competition at the very end, in order to beat traffic leaving Liberty station. I checked out not only Yelp events but, the Liberty Station website to se what was happening around the time of our visit. Yelp had a few events, most of those were for the over 21 crowd but, the Liberty Station site showed they were to host their 1st "Taste of Liberty Station" event and, it was open to all ages. NARRATIVE: The Taste of Liberty Station was held on Thursday, April 24, 2019 from 5 until 9 pm. Tickets were available for advanced purchase online at a discounted rate. Day of the event tickets were also offered with an additional cost of around $5 dollars. My family and I purchased our tickets prior to the event and I was able to download each ticket to my iPhone via the Liberty Station website. SCENE: Liberty Station is located in the Point Loma area of San Diego and occupies what was once the Navy Recruit Training Center and Naval Training Center. In fact, most the buildings playing host to the various shops and restaurants on Liberty Station are the old barracks and schools the Navy once owned and used from 1923 until 1997 when the base and buildings were sold to the City of San Diego. EVIDENCE: The event started off when we were handed a "roadmap" flyer. The flyer had a route map and a check box from the restaurants and shops participating in the event. As you entered each shop or restaurant for your bite size sample or taste. An employee would check off your stop in the box provided. Over 27 restaurants / shops participated in the event. I also noticed and actually snapped a picture of paper bags along the route which were filled with sand and a candle. These were placed along the route to show guest the path (route) to take the next stop. IMO, pretty cleaver. Over the years, my family and I have enjoyed eating at the many restaurants in and around Point Loma and Liberty Station but, I was still surprised a few times today after sampling a few places I had seen but never tried. All the sample of food at the various restaurants were plentiful and tasty. I was also happy to see all of the many employees and volunteers with smiles on their faces as they interacted with guest. In some instances, I even got some of the employees to laugh at my weak jokes. RECOMMENDATION(S): What can I say. Great weather. Great people and, a great location. With this being the first of its kind at Liberty Station. I think those responsible for putting the event together did an awesome job! I am sure with todays success, this event and more like it will take place in the future and when it does. I will be right here to watch, eat and smile.

The first container had four mini waffles combined with around a dozen pieces of chicken nuggets. A self-service condiments station was available that provided ketchup and four different sauces with clearly marked signage of each name and flavor profile. I used the Golden Chicken Dip for the nuggets to add a sweet and smoky enhancement to the bits of white meat. The second bowl had white rice as a base with chicken, broccoli, and carrots in a curry sauce that was mild in heat and spices. Two slices of yellow pickled daikon (takuan) were included on the side. The mix made for a nice savory snack. Thank you to the owners and staff at Surf Up Chicken for introducing a group of Elites to your eatery. The combination of Asian fusion and Southern-style flavors was unique. Thanks also to Audrey and Yelp North County San Diego for identifying a new local, family-run business to host an Elite Week Event.

2021 Makers Arcade back from Covid. Great event, vendors, food and drinks. Get your holiday…read moreshopping done and find a few things for yourself. See you next year!

Just call me the Merry Maker!…read more We have been attending this event since it's humble beginnings, both the Holiday and Spring shows. All I can say is that it gets better and bigger each year. I preferred when they changed up the event locations, as some did allow dogs. I've always heard the Port wouldn't but there were many there on this bright sunny December day. Service dogs, questionable. The first year at Port Pavilion, the security guard let us in to run and take a photo with our dog at the photo booth, then we were able to sit outside, eat and have a cocktail. My husband let me roam the booths. Handmade and well priced deals, there is live music and a DIY craft bar. I worked with a couple who were selling their product. Impressive, they paired up with Hugh Jackman and his coffee company and they added their own custom candle. They have provided to the Golden Globes. There was not just one photo booth this year, but there were two, You could double your fun. We chose the Camera Camper as it's been my favorite photo booth to date, experienced it at one of my favorite Yelp events. Also, I am a bit suspicious of a Santa who looks to young. Santa's little helper though, I got a kick out watching her look and laugh at the photos. All I can say is "Oh, what fun for days". Its time for cotton candy and cookies made of real butter, consumer spending on handmade goods, truly merriment at it's finest. #SanDiego #MakersArcade #MerryGoodTime #RealHandmadeGoods #FakeServiceDogs
