I cannot say enough good things about my experience here at Elite endodontics. As someone with EXTREMELY high dental anxiety, I was dreading the idea of needing more than 1 root canal--but my hygienist helped calm me down before I ever saw Dr Thurman. They both had an incredible bedside manner--calm, kind, and patient. She reassured me that I wouldn't feel any pain and that they would make sure I was nice and numb/relaxed before starting. Dr Thurman explained everything I needed done to my teeth thoroughly, answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. I had nitric oxide gas and the local anesthetic (per usual) and the entire procedure was completely pain-free! I genuinely couldn't believe how smooth and comfortable it was. So much so, that I've already scheduled to have my other root canal completed by him. I went here for a root canal and the doctor did a great job. She was very matter of fact and just got the job done. Had no issues there. My issue is with the front desk, especially the lady who was in charge of billing the day I came in. They were SO RUDE! I'm giving one star because the people you interact with at the front desk really set the tone for the experience, and these office girls aren't it. I pay out of pocket, and I paid over $1,500 (which is literally the MOST a root canal can cost) this was even after a "discount" they gave me for paying in full at once. I asked an honest question regarding the price (I was asking about all the extra X-rays they did AFTER they gave me anesthetic in which I don't fully believe I could have consented to those X-rays) and was looked at like I was annoying for having questions when if it wasn't for me and your other patients coming in, you wouldn't be getting paid! Anyways, hope all of your paychecks are lower after my review (: Customer service in San Antonio is ghetto, and yall need to learn to stop disrespecting the people who are paying for you to stay in business. read more

I went in for a root canal not once, but twice. Once in October and again December 8,2021. I called a week after informing them I still had a lot of pain and discomfort. Dr. Thurman prescribed a Medrol dose pack and hoped the problem would go away. I called back after another week complaining of the same symptoms, and his office said they would request the authorization for a new procedure in December. When I called my insurance, they stated the authorization wasn't even submitted until January 7th. The office didn't contact me until 2/2/22. I was in so much pain, so I went in to see another doctor for a 2nd opinion, because Dr. Thurman's office was still in limbo. The new dentist recommended we immediately extract the tooth. When my tooth was extracted, the root of the tooth was covered with infection. Take into consideration that teeth are linked to your organs, and that if infection is not under control it could cause damage to your organs. I called the office today, 2/11/2022. Mary Anne answered my call. I began to explain and all Mary Ann had to say was that it was my responsibility to follow up with the insurance. She was unmerciful, unsympathetic, and disrespectful interrupting me while I was speaking. She kept saying it was my responsibility to follow up with my insurance. Now, if only the doctors office took accountability for letting a patient sit with a tooth infection for over two months. I can guarantee you that this office does not care about your whole well-being. Had they offered me any cash price options I would've paid up front for any procedure necessary as long as my health wasn't at risk. I had no problem paying them almost $400 and I had no problem paying the new dentist $800 for ozone therapy, and extraction, and PRF therapy since my benefits were out of network. That the tooth I was having trouble with, could affect your thyroid, your breast glands, and your heart. Like I told Mary Ann, I am not just a patient. I am a mother, a daughter, and a wife. We go to providers for help, and if you're too overwhelmed to do your job you don't belong there. The way you treat people even over the phone reflects a lot about you as a person. Dr. Thurman, I hope you take this as a lesson to not disregard patient complaints, and I hope you find people who appreciate their job enough to appreciate the patients who pay you so you could pay their salaries. I'm sure if this was your wife, child, or any other family member, you wouldn't let them sit with jaw, tooth pain, and infection for 2 months. Hands down the best dental procedure I've had to date. Was sent to Elite Endodontics by the VA. Had an appointment initially scheduled for next month but staff was kind enough to call stating they had a cancellation and asked if I would like to come in early. This was my first root canal and was a little apprehensive. Dr. Thurman performed the root canal. There was zero pain - no exaggeration. Procedure took 1.5 hours chair to door. I'm writing this review 6 hours after leaving the office and still no pain and I didn't have to take Advil or Tylenol. Pros: Staff was friendly and welcoming, was seen exactly on time, totally painless procedure and Dr. Thurman was professional and very thorough. Would definitely recommend Elite Endodontics and especially Dr. Thurman. read more

Let me say that Dr. Thurman is a great doctor, absolutely the best, hands down! It's the front office and office manager that are horrible. They collect more than they need at the visit and then when it's time for a refund, you will be waiting FOREVER! You can call all you want and it's the same BS and run around. Even if you have a refund from a previous claim, they won't release it until all claims have been paid. The office (Anabelle) said that some patients even wait for a year to a year and half for their claims to be paid. Really, that's a little absurd! They don't hesitate to collect my money, but they sure do take their time to return it! So for that reason I suggest you stay away unless you like being overcharged and don't care to have your refund back right away. Sorry, but I won't be going back and I definitely will be letting my dentist know not to refer people there anymore! read more

Absolutely horrible experience! The office manager Maryanne is one of the most unprofessional people I've ever spoken with. I had to reschedule my first appointment then Maryanne herself canceled my appointment that was for Monday on a Friday even after I called and confirmed it that same day. She then rescheduled me then canceled without notice again. I asked to speak to another manager or owner and she stated she was both. After seeing the reviews I am not surprised. Due to her unprofessional behavior and lack of communication, I've been left in extreme pain because I refuse to go there and would not feel safe and let my referring doctor know I would not be going here. Maryanne called to try and get the last word which I did not allow her belittling antics and advised her I would be finding another provider. Read the other reviews and it makes sense now. If I could rate 0 starts I would. The staff is rude and I don't really know how they got a job at this place. They won't return your calls or any of that and both the front desk and lady and her supervisor both very rude and inconsiderate people. They will cut you off whenever your speaking and always have a last word to say whenever spoken too. They need to go back to school to learn some manners. Had a root canal today with Dr. Sebastian and I'm very happy with my experience! I was extremely nervous at first but the staff was super friendly and good at making sure you're relaxed. I felt absolutely no pain and the Dr kept me well informed on the entire process. I look forward to my follow up appointment and would definitely recommend this office to anyone looking! Aside from the great customer service I must advise, if you are in immediate pain this shouldn't be your first stop. I was not in any pain and there was no sense of urgency which is why I was able to have a pleasant experience. You will have to have an initial consultation which for me included x-rays. The consultation costs $95 upfront, however, if they are covered by insurance it is refundable after they receive the EOB from the insurance company which takes about a week or two. They could do a lot better with explaining that to patients as I had to make several calls to gain that knowledge. Once I understood the process it was smooth sailing! read more

The first "appointment" was a 5 minute consultation that consisted of the dentist looking in my mouth for a split second, tell me "yep you have something in there" and charged me $70. Then the lady in the office said with insurance covering some of it, the total was about $600. I was ready to plop down the money because of pain, but unfortunately had to reschedule my appt. (And they charged me $100 to do so) After that I was fed up & decided to go another route. The other place I ended up going to was about $220 cheaper. Stay away. Stay far away. read more

Dr. Sebastian is very knowledgeable and highly skilled. She also took the time to make sure everything was perfect. I also like how she explains what she is doing along the way. I turn 80 this year and have had a considerable amount of dental work done over the course of my life and I have never been more pleased with any dental experience than I am with this one. Came here with the recommendation of my dentist for a root canal and he accepted my insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield. It was a good experience. Work done well. I was in no pain whatsoever during procedure and after. He even prescribed me Motrin 600 mg which I didn't even really use since I was in no pain. They worked with me on a payment plan since my insurance only covered so much. I would recommend Elite Endodontics. read more

I was referred here by my regular DDS for a root canal. What a horrible process. First I had a nightmare of a time just booking the appointment, it only took three calls, after them not returning two messages to get the appointment. Then they called and cancelled the appointment because they wanted a consultation before they'd schedule the appointment. I called my DDS who called them to tell them there was really no point in a consultation, I needed the root canal because the canal was calcified. Then the DDS called me back to tell me it was okay to call and book the appointment again. When I called back the soonest they could get me in was three weeks after later than the first appointment I had. Then I get to the appointment, everyone was professional, they asked for payment as soon as my behind hit the chair. Root canal done, I was on my way out. Stop at the desk to check out. "I'll take your payment now." Umm, no we did that already. So I'm then I get the statement of settlement from my insurance which they had consulted and verified would pay prior to me showing up for the appointment. They'd over charged me. How do you over charge the patient when you're calling the insurance to verify before the patient even comes in? It's been two months and I don't have a refund. When I called the office they said, they'd just resubmitted it to the insurance. I'd say take your business elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend Dr. Sebastian. My husband went to her, over a year ago, and she did a root canal on one of his molars, subsequently we had to go to El Paso for our job, and he was still in a lot of pain, yet she made him pay to go to a dentist in El Paso in order to get a script. Then today we went back to her because he is still having the same problem that she supposedly had taken care of, and she couldn't figure out what is causing the pain, nor would she prescribe anything to help him. She is obviously more concerned with how she appears to the DEA then her patients. read more

Honestly once inside they were great but getting inside was a huge issue, I'm in a wheelchair. The front door has stairs and no ramp. I sent my kid in to ask about access and she was told to use the back door. I went all around the building and the only door I saw with a ramp had businesses listed but not this one. I went back to the front door and got out of my wheelchair on to the ground and crawled up the stairs dragging my wheelchair up. Thank God a kind woman stopped and asked if she could help and I asked her to bring my chair up for me. I know this was witnessed by the traffic going down the road as one car stopped to look and was almost hit by another car. When I asked about access I was told there was a sign on the door. I told them I didn't see one and was told it must have fallen off. Rather convenient. read more

Let me preface this by saying I despise going to the dentist---thus leading me to needing a root canal because I put off what would of been a simple filling. I went to a dentist close to me for an evaluation and once it was determined that a root canal was needed he highly recommended Dr. Thurman and said he even sent his parents to him. The first appointment was short and not so sweet(I was told up front it was a $90 charge so no shock there) but I set up my appointment after going over payment options and insurance coverage. I came on yelp and saw how few stars he had and was nervous but after reading the reviews I saw that it wasn't a problem with his, his work, or really even his staff but other issues that the average person wouldn't mind. His assistant Jennifer went above the call of duty in helping me, along with the nitrous!, in feeling as comfortable as possible. My treatment was finishing in a timely manor and as much as I liked them I was hoping to never see them again! But alas, two days later a part of my temporary filling came out and they got me in immediately and smoothed out the problem. I wouldn't wish a root canal on anyone but if you do need one this is the place to go! read more

"Elite" is 100% accurate for this clinic. I thought everything about my experience here was exceptional. Just to give some insight, I was suffering from a terrible tooth ache, I was in severe pain for several weeks and was having a hard time finding an Endodontics office where the Doctor was wiling to do a retreat on a root canal. I had already had a root canal done in this tooth previously and paid a lot of money for it and almost a year later, this pain pops up again. I live on the other side of town from this clinic and was getting desperate to find a doctor as most of the dentists on my side of town were either out of network with my insurance plan or booking way to far out or would not do the retreat. So i was referred to this clinic from another clinic after calling around. I called and expressed my concern to the receptionist with all the trouble I was having just trying to get into a doctors office and taking care of this tooth. They were able to get me in that day within the following hour!!! I was ecstatic!! I went in that same day and several hours later Dr. Sebastian was performing another root canal on my tooth and found a 4th root in my tooth that was never discovered by the first dentist. This 4th root was causing all the pain. Immediately after the procedure, my pain was diminished and I have since been pain free!! i was so relieved because they got me in the same day and took care of me the same day, the office made it clear to me that I had to wait because they squeezed me into their schedule. I was perfectly fine with waiting, I wasn't even expecting to get treatment that day, i was just thinking i was going in for consult and to get on their books. I was happy to patiently wait all afternoon to get treated, mind you, i live far from this clinic and this office took that into consideration so that i didn't have to make multiple trips. And let me just say, Dr. Sebastian was a GREAT Doctor, she is good at her job and she was so graceful while performing the procedure, i didn't flinch once. Dr. Sebastian was quick and made the whole process easy for me. I highly recommend this doctor/clinic. I am super happy with the treatment and service I received. read more

Went on a referral from dentist. Dr. took 2min and said " so someone would be in to discuss my "treatment plan". So I guess I need a root canal? The "treatment plan" lady was totally non-friendly and in my opinion rude. She spoke down to me as if I needed assistance with money! I checked out with said treatment plan representative and it was 90$!!! Give me a break - cancelled my appt for root canal and went somewhere else. Dr. Thurman is one of the best doctors I have ever visited. During my root canal, he noticed I was extra nervous and scared but kept me distracted with telling me stories. With that, one hour and 15 min went by super fast. And I went from carrying Advil with me at all times because of the unbearable pain to not feeling a thing at all after visiting him. Service is everything in today's healthcare world! How I was treated from the moment I was greeted to the time I left was below mediocre. I was referred to this office after being seen by a dentist who confirmed that my tooth required root canal treatment. Due to the severity of pain they stated that I had to go to Elite and they would be able to perform the RCT as this is their specialty. I explained to the lady who was doing X-rays that I already had X-rays from the other office and a speciality referral form that clearly had the initial dentist comments regarding what treatment was required. She said that this appt is to evaluate only. (She even rolled her eyes when she was leaving the room) I was disappointed when she said they couldn't do the treatment. Then a lady came in and said that she spoke with my assistant yesterday and stated that they needed pre autho from my insurance in order to preform the root canal. I told her I would pay out of pocket, regardless of cost because of the extreme pain I had been in for 5 consecutive days. They did not care! The worst part is that a dentist came in who was NOT LISTED ON THE REFERRAL FORM. she had poor manners and said to just keep taking pain meds. She did not tell me anything that I didn't already know. When the dentist was Finished with her 3 minute exam they asked me to go back up front. At which time the lady who informed me that it would cost $1k plus asked for $95 which I paid and asked me to leave. I left in worse pain that I arrived in and extremely disappointed. I asked myself, how many people in pain go here to get treatment and then rejected when they are willing to pay 100% ?!?! Please save your time and energy and do not go here.
