I thought it was so cool that kids who played on teams could get the "feel" of what it's like to play in a realistic ballpark. They have their moment in the sun.There was a realistic scoreboard, food stands-with stuff like nachos, hot dogs, slurpees etc.I'm sure all the kids (and their parents) got a chill when their name was announced over the speakers. It's a lot of fun when your kids get to play there and you can invite the grandparents, your kids friends, your friends and their kids... Your child is star for a day! Also a good place to take kids who like watching baseball. Have some snacks, sit back and enjoy the fun. They charged a small fee at the gate (don't remember how much) but it wasn't much. Can't wait to visit again once the season starts.

There's even a dedicated dog park, but dogs are welcome throughout the whole park. We love that there is a large parking lot which (usually) makes it pretty easy to snag a spot. There is so much open space to lounge, have a picnic, or have your 1.5 year old run around and burn off some energy. The big oak trees make it easy to find a shady spot on sunny days. It's our to-go spot for the whole family when we want to get out of the house without having to go too far. Starting in June, they have a farmers market on Saturday mornings. We are so excited for that!

Being a cards fan, I'm super happy I got to catch them play the cubbies on the Friday before 4th of July. If you remember correctly, the cards beat the cubs by 16 runs, but I digress. Wrigleyville is an amazing area, and it was really cool to go through this experience again while watching the game. We sat at the bleachers with our $18 beers (yikes, yet typical) and had the best time. It wasn't super hot this day due to a storm (thank goodness) but definitely recommend taking some sunscreen, glasses, and a hat if you find yourself there when the sun is blazing. Our seats were an amazing view of first base and there were a variety of crowd engagement activities. Some of the best stadium food can be found there too. Usually I get nachos, but I switched it up this time by going to Lucky's for the Gochujang Bubble Waffle. It was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet and well worth the price. Early mornings especially are peaceful -- fresh air, open space, and just a solid environment to clear your head. I also play pickleball here, and the courts always have a good energy. The park is well kept, clean, and just overall reliable. I've been coming here consistently for runs and games and have genuinely never had a problem. These include five baseball fields, two football or soccer fields, and six tennis courts just among the stuff you can find outdoors. Has two fieldhouses. Of course there's also the swimming pool. This has hosted the Pan American Games and also the 1972 Olympic Trials. Also there's an indoor one that's heated. There's an interactive water play area popular in summer. A lot of after school and youth programs are offered. These include gymnastics and woodcraft. Boxing is also a popular program offered here. There's been many who went on to the Olympics and professional careers after being taught. Some come to this park just to get outside. There's a bike path and nature walk if wanting to get easier exercise without using balls and stuff. Good park for all kinds of activities. It's located on Irving Park Road. The CTA station is a ways away, but buses go along this street pretty often, even on weekends.

A place that's pretty much for the neighborhood but it's still big enough for a crowd. It's best known for the athletic fields. This is a popular place for youth baseball leagues. Also offers lots of fitness programs you can sign up for. There's weightlifting, yoga, and more. It was created in 1909 by the Lincoln Park Commission. The fieldhouse was designed by architect Dwight H. Perkins. It was the most impressive of the fieldhouses he designed. This has two gyms and an assembly hall. Easily among the best places to play sports or just watch others do anything. It's got tons of fields to play on. There's baseball, basketball, and tennis among other things.

It was super busy with softball games, soccer matches, and families playing but we still managed to score a parking spot on the street. Fairly certain there is no lot here though which can make things a little tricky. The birthday party we had was at the playground which is so awesome. There's a splash pad, lots of swings, and some really cool playscapes for big kids AND toddlers. Outside of the playground, there's lots of grassy areas and even a big gazebo. What is unique about Welles park is the native plant section which looks wild and is not manicured like the rest of the park. They have made a bunch of logs into a more natural walking & climbing setup. Some even form circles.
