I've been a loyal customer of Kelowna Mazda since 2018, with two Mazda vehicles in our household…read more Until recently, I consistently received attentive, professional service that made me feel valued. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. In early May, I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and tire patch. Despite having a 1:45 p.m. appointment, I waited 10 minutes to be helped, and the service took nearly four hours--with no updates--until I asked how much longer it would be. A recall-related issue I'd previously flagged was still missed and only corrected at the front desk, while small touches that once made the experience feel thoughtful--like a complimentary car wash--have quietly disappeared. Meanwhile, oil change pricing has increased significantly, which would be understandable if service quality had remained high. But it hasn't. The decline has been sharp--and deeply disappointing. I sent an email outlining my concerns on May 7, followed up with calls, and was told on May 12 that my message had been passed along to leadership. It's now the end of July, and I've received no response. The silence says a lot. After years of loyalty, I no longer feel like a valued customer. I hope Kelowna Mazda takes this feedback seriously--because service should matter just as much as sales.

KELOWNA...BEWARE OF AUGUST MAZDA…read more Bought a used Mini Cooper from August Mazda for over $26,000 and had it insured on June 1, 2023. Mid September, my battery died...not able to start my car. So I took it back to them...as they told me I had a warranty for 6 months. Apparently...that was not written in stone...I had a quote for $421 that then went to $543 to replace the battery...high I felt but needed to be done. When we went to pick it up...magically, the quote moved went from $543 to $628. Oh yeah...they forgot to add the taxes... August Mazda does not keep to their word. They told me a 6 month warranty that they did not honour...then that turned into 10% off parts...that then went to full price sucker. They misquote and expect the customer to pay for the difference. Good thing I didn't take the extended warranty...I may have had yet another surprise.

Your factory warranty expired in November 2021. It is always important that we discuss upfront how the repair process would go including costs associated when the manufacturer warranty has expired and in your case this has been for 2 1/2 years. The extended corrosion warranty has to do with corrosion rusting though body panels which for your BMW X5M is not the case. BMW Canada has a very good warranty and will stretch in many situations when it makes sense. Kelowna BMW's service team has been very diligent trying to work with you on your external water leak and will continue to work with you at your request. Delivering the news that someone's warranty has expired is not something that anyone on our team likes to have to discuss, that facts in this situation Scott are the facts. We can fix your vehicle's issue but the manufacture will not cover the cost so far past your warranty expiry date. Kind regards, Gord Hayes Kelowna BMW/MINI Kelowna." My review starts here; The above is reply from someone I have never dealt with at kelowna Bmw. He is not a part of the solution. Cannot imagine having a major issue and this is who you are banking on to help you. My initial four year warranty was up but that is an odd story. The dealership had sold my suv previously to numerous buyers and kept their cash deposits. But the dealership also started the warranty as it sat in the showroom for many months, maybe well over a year? My suv bought in 2019 with currently 45km door was filling with water. Any one with common sense would estimate there is going to be corrosion on the bare metal and electrical. To the naked eye I can see corrosion as leather door card is warped and bubbling. I hoped the bmw 12 year rust and corrosion warranty could apply? The service manager in kelowna did explain to me I am wasting my time as Bmw would not warranty common issue. He also said I would be paying for the labor of warranty application? BMW never had a chance to "stretch" a warranty as it was not submitted due to kelowna Bmw talking me out of applying. The word diligent is used to asses my water damage. No one even left their seat to look at the obvious corrosion. If that's "diligence" or the "facts" I am confused. Kelowna Bmw almost soured me on Bmw as a brand. Fortunately for me, BMW Canada and other BMW dealers did not use the same tact as kelowna Bmw. It was an easy fix and all doors were done to be thorough. Ps, now I know why Kelowna has a high number of great German specific garages for after warranty service. Buyer beware!

The service department is, in my opinion, a bunch of fraudsters. As with many hyundais, my car was…read moredrinking oil at a ridiculous rate. I was told that Hyundai was warrantying these defective engines, so went to the dealership (the only reason I would ever go to the service department of a dealership) to inquire. They told me to go through the process of oil consumtion testing, going back there every 1000km for 6000km, which I did. It proved it consumed too much oil. Then they said they had to do a "boroscope" to check the cylinder walls for scoring. They said it would cost $200, but that would be paid back if it failed the test because it would be covered under the warranty. It failed the test. Then they said that they'd take pictures (another $200, nonrefundable) of it for the report to Hyundai or I could prove I'd had oil changes done regularly. Given that it had been 5 or 6 years of ownership, going to multiple different garages for oil changes, I opted just for the photos. A couple days later I get the call that the warranty was declined. Apparently cylinder wall scoring is not a criterion they consider for this particular engine's warranty... it's only "bearing rod clearance" that is a consideration, and they could tell my car didn't have that problem because they'd hear it knocking... no diagnostic time needed for that; apparently it's quite obvious. It certainly wasn't noted in the diagnostic report I received. I told them then that I expected my $200 boroscope fee and the $200 photo fee refunded, as apparently that was completely irrelevant to the warranty claim, which was my one and only objective that I stated clearly at the outset. Nope.. no refunds. I posted this story to Facebook, and within a day or two the service manager contacted me wanting to review the case. Long story short, he told me from the photos it appeared my oil hadn't been changed regularly, and that was possibly the reason the walls were scored, so that's why Hyundai wasn't going to cover it. I then went around to the shops that I'd gone to for oil changes and gathered the record. It turns out I'd had my oil changed regularly at less than the 6000km interval they suggest... usually around 5400km. The funny thing about that was that EVERY ONE of the shops, when I asked for my service record asked "Oh, is this for a Hyundai or Kia?"... followed up by "you're the 3rd guy this week" or "you're the 2nd guy today". Clearly I'm not the only one getting the run-around here with these garbage engines! I sent in my oil change record for review, and about a week later I got the response that despite this regular maintenance being proven, Hyundai still wan't considering replacing the engine under warranty. Again, I requested that the irrelevant, useless boroscope of the cylinder walls and the associated photo fees be refunded, as obviously the result of them played no role in whether my engine was eligible for warranty. They should have known that. In fact, I wonder if they did... I wonder if they saw this as an opportunity to soak me for $400+. However, the service manager told me they had done nothing wrong, and that I would not be getting a refund. In any case, I won't be fooled again. Never will I go to this place again, and never will I purchase another Hyundai or Kia. Too bad really, because other than defective engines they're decent vehicles. If I'd been treated properly and not defrauded, I might have been back one day, but for the sake of $400 they've lost a customer permanently and unequivocally.
