I also noticed at other tables that some people ordered a la carte and others the surprise menu, again nice that the whole table can order what they want. I enjoy amuse bouchée and that was one of the highlights of the meal. We started with five different amuse bouchée, all of them excellent and interesting. Even with only the large menu, it seemed as if we got many more courses than I was expecting. Also enjoyed a reconstructed caprese salad, a tomato stuffed with cheese. I had the Bottarga and artichokes, which was very good if a little lemony on the artichokes for me. For our main, I had the Spaghetti All' Asticce (fresh recently living lobster, absolutely heavenly!), & Sweetie had the Vitello Milanese (rated "excellent"). For dessert, we had wine (Gaja's Ca Marcanda Magari) Overall, VERY enjoyable! We had a couple of very personable and charming waiters, who made everything fun & enjoyable. The very minor issue I had, was that we went "early" - 8:30pm - so we got ALL of the wait staff attention. A bit irritating at first, but that's being churlish: they were all very friendly & helpful! After getting seated, one of the hosts (not a manager, mind you) made it a point to come by & subtly let us know he made us a favor even though he wasn't the one we worked with directly. When we were given the menu, the main wait person was a bit snooty and acted like we may not be able to afford some items on the menu. My friend, who was paying for the dinner, had a Crazy Rich Asian moment and ordered everything off the menu. Guess they got the hint. The manager came by to welcome us & they changed staff who were much more pleasant & easier to engage with. It's technically an appetizer, but plenty enough for an entree. The lobster spaghetti came with a half of a lobster tail and a massive amount of pasta (though a tad salty). I'd pass on the calzone, which had a nice chewy edging, but pales in comparison to their seafood. This is Sardinia after all, right?! If you're coming towards the beginning or end of the summer season, call in advance to get their hours. The majority of shops and restaurants in Porto Cervo operate on a seasonal basis just as resorts in the East Coast do, like Martha's Vineyard, Stone Harbor and the Hamptons (my personal favorite, of course, since that's where I got engaged!).
