I was a regular customer at Pink Arrow until I purchased a pair of boots from Nicole last summer. She explicitly told me they were waterproof. I didn't wear them until March when I visited a friend in Idaho. The snow was melting while we were out, and the boots failed completely-- now the toes are permanently stained. When I emailed Nicole to share what happened, it took her a full month to reply, only to tell me that because it had been close to a year since purchase, she couldn't do anything for me. I offered to show her the boots so she could see from the pristine soles that they had only been worn that single day. As a small business owner myself, I know there were many ways she could have handled this to make it right. At the end of the day, an owner should stand behind their products and stand 100% behind their word. I will only spend my money at businesses that truly value and care about their customers.

Fortunately, it didn't take Pat and Jane long to secure this new spot down the street. What they gave up in square footage they gained in foot traffic. It's a bummer that they lost the separate furniture showroom they had at the former location, though. They do still bring in pieces, albeit on a much smaller scale. They already had pretty good turnover of goods in the old space so they should do even better here. Even when they get high-end or collectible items in, they mark them reasonably. One of my favorite scores so far has been my 4-quart Corningware casserole (Country Festival pattern) for $11 (goes for up to 3x that amount on eBay/Etsy, not counting shipping). It's no longer a dark and cramped museum of over-priced items that sit for literal years, gathering dust. It's now a bright, spacious, and dynamic place to shop and visit. The new owners (a young sister duo) have an incredible eye for pieces from every decade in the past 100 years. No matter what you collect - be it media, ephemera, kitsch, housewares, soft goods, lighting, home decor, clothing, jewelry/accessories, or furniture - you WILL find something that calls out to you for a price you can't resist. I especially enjoy chatting with Sam (the sister who happens to have been there each time I've visited) about our shared fascination with the stories behind, well, everything. There's just something about knowing where an object came from and who loved it first that makes it extra precious. Bonus: A cat museum - appropriate to the store name - is being planned. Stay tuned!

The manager (possibly owner?) is very hands-on and her hard work is evidenced by a space that's clean, wonderfully arranged, and appealing to shop in. As I overheard conversations happening around me, I picked up on a sense of community...sure enough, I have since learned that ReVibe is connected to vibetogether.org, whose goal is "to create a positive impact in our community by bridging mental health and the arts. Our mission is to empower individuals through support, emotional well-being, self-expression, and community healing." The main shop is so organized and thoughtfully laid out that it feels like a boutique. Adult apparel is in the primary room, with smaller rooms for accessories and kid's clothes, books, and toys. For now, housewares are in a separate room to the right of the main shop, but there are plans to eventually tear down the wall separating the two spaces to make one large shop. Before I even left ReVibe, I was already thinking about doing a big purge at home so that I could bring donations in soon. I'd rather drive all the way from San Francisco to Benicia to support this shop than take my things to Goodwill or Salvation Army. ReVibe deserves all the support we can give!
