Innovative Elevator Specialist (IES) installs and repairs elevators. This includes home elevators…read more After clicking around the internet, plus phoning some places, I wasn't able to find a repair service for my house elevator. YELP failed me too.( NOTE: As a result of the economic downturn that started in 2008, the company that installed my elevator in 2009 went out of business.) So I emailed the manufacturer of my elevator, WauPaca Elevator Co, and asked them for help in 2017. I didn't really need a repair company for much before this. WauPaca sent me 2 company names. I chose IES because it was the nearest to me and because the owners name was a feminine one (Roxanne). I like to support female and local businesses even though finding genuine female businesses isn't easy. I seem to run into the ones where the female is just fronting for some male for the SBA set aside preference or some silly reason. That isn't the case with Roxanne. She is the real deal. She is the elevator repair technician, 100%, not a proxy. My last repair was very complicated leading me to write this review. It wasn't the elevator, per se. The root cause was condensation from the AC ducts which rusted out our elevator locking mechanism and door operator on the main level not to mention the mold IES found. The AC ducts come to an "L" shape in the attic right over the doorframe of the elevator so that's why the water collected in that area. The General Contractor who pooh-poohed me when I complained to him last year about moisture in the hall did us no favors. His answer was to turn the AC off a few days. IES got up in the attic and added more insulation and did some other stuff. Then we monitored it for almost 3 weeks with the ceiling ripped out in the hall, so we had a visual. They also had to douse studs and stuff in the area with an anti-mold solution. Couldn't fix elevator until after they were sure the condensation issue was fixed or it would be a waste of time not to mention more $$$s. Naw, it wasn't cheap. I trust though that Roxanne will stand behind her work and I think the price was fair based on the time, including off site research, and effort invested. So don't spend a lot of time" clicking" around the internet if you live in the DMV and have a home elevator. Contact Roxanne.
