However, the last interactions I have had with this company are beyond explanation. 1. During our home build we discovered we overpaid Boulder Mountain approximately $300. I notified the company as soon I discovered the issue and they have not responded to our request for a refund. They have not even let us know they will look into it. They simply have ignored the email. At the end of 30 days we will be notifying DOPL, DCP, and taking legal action. To not respond to a customer concern is unprofessional. To keep money they did not earn is unethical and unjust enrichment. 2. Boulder Mountain gave me a bid in November 2020 to perform rock wall work for $3,400 with a commitment to start in the spring. April 2nd I contacted Don as he requested to get us on the schedule to perform the work. Don replies, "Ok. I'll be ready the first of may. Let [t]ouch base on a few weeks". May 4th I again reach out. Don replies and states prices have gone up. He comes out, remeasures, and says, "it won't be much more" to do the work. He sends a bid which is more than 2.75 times more than the agreed upon price: $7,759.10. I try to understand what just happened because he does not state he miscalculated, says rock rose 40%, fuel increased 75 cents, and rental equipment went up 20%. The math doesn't work out so I ask again. He then falsely states it is impossible to get the rental equipment. I reply that I called two locations and both had the equipment he needed and that we needed to talk. On the phone Don tells me he simply doesn't want to do the job. So, he made excuses, told me he couldn't get the equipment, jacked up the price, all in an effort to discourage me from using him. He also told me that he didn't like my job because it was too difficult to work in my back yard and he could make more money faster on easier jobs. He said that despite our agreement in Nov, and confirmations in April/May, that he would not be coming back. I remind him that we spent tens of thousands of dollars with his company and he mocked me. I then told him how disappointed I was that he would use these slimy tactics and his only response was that he was not proud of it. Don has preached to me for years that he is not the type of contractor that would breach a contract, leave someone in a bind by abandoning a project, price gouge, deceive, or be unethical in his work. In this latest experience he did all of these things including keeping money that did not belong to him nor earn. Where I once highly recommended Boulder Mountain Rock Walls, I no longer do so. This company is just another company looking to make a financial windfall during difficult economic times for people. I suggest you avoid. During our home build I dealt with many contractors who acted like this, who ultimately buried us financially, and frankly I'm sick of it. I expect businesses to be professional, ethical, and honest.

Price quoted was good as were the terms for payment so there were no changes or surprises. The retaining walls were professionally constructed with good looking rocks, I couldn't be happier with the job. I would definitely recommend Boulder Mountain to anyone requiring retaining walls for their property and I would use them again should I ever be in need of their services. Five Stars!

I am uploading only photos of my home this time, per review guidelines. I self-contracted our home for the last 6 months and have knowledge on the subject as I was forced to have several roofers, contractors, and manufacturers inspect Alex's work. Our superintendent even got in touch with Alex's crew directly and they informed him that they knowingly used a bad batch of shingles because they were trying to dry in the home too quickly. It was also evident that the underlayment ice shield was not pulled tight as it should have been, which caused the ripple effect. I will not excuse the framers (as Alex points out) for their part, but the issue with shingles and ice shield were not because of framing. You can see in the images the issues caused by the framing and then you can clearly see rippling as well. The sheathing did not delaminate but did warp, and a good/responsible roofer would call that out instead of knowingly installing bad shingles on a roof you know will have issues. Perhaps Alex has been roofing longer under a different company... but his original license was issued in 2022. I prefer not to communicate this way but as Alex has not replied to a single text message or call, it seems this was the only option to get his attention.

I found him a little weak (just a little) on the garden side of things, planting trees. bushes est... One of the things I liked most about him is he would go out of this way to hire & work with people who had problems, most people would have nothing to do with these people. Mark just has a big heart. When here he rehired a man who had stoled from him. Yet he forgave the man and put him back to work, "after a few weeks as punishment". He did keep a close eye on his men and I felt safe having them here. Mark did most the work himself as he trained the others on his crew. He left our yard a mess for a week, had an unpredictable schedule, brought his toddler one day, soaked our mail, and filled up our garbage can. Then, most importantly, they claimed our scope didn't include our porch, after he started work on it. I guess he decided it was too difficult. The language in the quote sounded like it was included as "woodwork" although it didn't specifically say porch, and we'd had a verbal agreement to do the porch but they backed out and left it in bad shape. I came into this project having been burned by a competitor so I was a bit cynical. Before we even…read morestarted talking about estimates or the job itself the sales person had gotten in touch with my insurance company and started a claim. This is something I didn't even think to do! Even without the insurance payout, their quote was about half the cost of the other company. Once it came time to do the work, I was in constant communication with the foreman. The guys tore off the old roof in a day and put up the new in a second day. The following morning the dumpster was gone. Again, by starting an insurance claim they put money in my pocket before they even knew if I would be a customer! I'm generally nervous about home renovations because I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this sort of thing. I believe the competitor tried to take advantage of my ignorance. King Roofing did right by me and I would recommend them to ANYBODY who needs their house retopped. Thanks!!!
