If you're looking for a dangerous, negligent psychiatric practice, look no further than Elevate Psychiatry. My experience here has been filled with administrative incompetence, medical negligence, and a blatant disregard for patient care. This practice appears to prioritize profits over patient well-being, leaving itself wide open to legal liability. The issues began immediately with billing errors. I was repeatedly overcharged for visits due to misinformation about my co-pay, which required me to fight for refunds. While frustrating, this was just the beginning compared to the negligence in my psychiatric care. Dr. Sused Hidalgo prescribed a medication for my diagnosis, but when my insurance didn't cover it, the pharmacy suggested an alternative. She issued a new prescription within minutes--without reviewing my chart or evaluating if it was appropriate for my condition. When I raised concerns, I found out Elevate had never even obtained my medical records from my previous psychiatrist. Despite completing a HIPAA form and requesting the transfer myself, they failed to follow through. Dr. Hidalgo prescribed medication without access to my medical history, and when I pointed this out, she dismissed my concerns, stating we could "discuss it during the next visit." There was no accountability or acknowledgment of the potential harm caused by this negligence. In search of better care, I was assigned to Dr. Dolores ("Doly"). Her approach was even worse. Despite providing her with genetic testing results showing which medications would likely work for me, she dismissed them as mere "suggestions." When I reported severe side effects from her prescribed medications--worsening anxiety, sedation, and erratic behavior--she refused to adjust the treatment plan. Dr. Doly also made bizarre and offensive comments, such as: "Depressed people don't wear makeup. I recommend some women wear makeup to feel better." "I don't believe in bipolar II. Depression is just a side effect of bipolar, and I think you're bipolar I." Her assessments were conducted entirely via Telehealth, which is not permitted for diagnosing and treating complex conditions like bipolar disorder. This is unethical and a violation of medical guidelines. On July 12, I sent a detailed email to the owner, Mr. Bhatia, outlining these issues. Despite following up with voicemails, I never received a response. My last appointment was on October 31, and as of December 10, no one from the practice has reached out. This lack of follow-up makes it clear they only care about money, not their patients' health. Elevate Psychiatry's negligence includes: * Medical malpractice: Prescribing medications without proper evaluation or access to my medical records. * HIPAA violations: Failing to request or obtain my previous medical documentation. * Insurance fraud: Overcharging me despite confirmed coverage. * Negligent Telehealth practices: Diagnosing and treating complex conditions remotely without required in-person evaluations. I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Elevated Psychiatry. Over the past two weeks, I had two therapy appointments scheduled, and in both cases, no one showed up. Last week, I waited in the virtual room for over an hour, but no one joined the session or reached out to explain why the appointment wasn't happening. Then, yesterday, I waited on the phone for half an hour for another pre-scheduled therapy session, and again, nobody joined. In August, I had an appointment with Carla and was informed that the cost would be $129, which I agreed to pay upfront. I joined the virtual meeting on time, but after waiting 15 minutes, the secretary finally joined just to collect the payment. Only after I paid did the doctor appear, and she informed me we had only 15 minutes left. That was barely enough time to even start discussing whether I needed any medication, and the session was rushed. Afterward, I received a bill for $428, which was clearly incorrect. I had to waste time calling them to get the error corrected, and they finally charged me $129. But even that felt unfair because I didn't receive the 30-minute evaluation I was eligible for. The appointment didn't result in any meaningful progress other than scheduling another session with a different therapist. To make matters worse, there's been no explanation or apology for the missed appointments, and it's almost impossible to get in touch with anyone to resolve these issues. She was drunk during her session and based off of what she told me, the dr did not question her sobriety. She's intubated now in ICU from suffering a seizure due to neglectful and harmful advice from a supposed medical professional at this practice. I want to really communicate to folks to be weary of this place. I had a very negative interaction with my medication and was basically told to "wait until our next session" when it was clear by me and my mental health counselor that the issue needed to be rectified within a few days. Further they are very fast to over prescribe and I take issue with that. I believe certain medications shouldn't be prescribed if holistic medicine is working for someone. I had hope for this office since I moved to MIA, every single time there's an issue with my visits, the "doctor" is not knowledgeable and doesn't take seriously my symptoms which I've constantly explained in detail in many different ways from past experiences that I had addressed to my previous doctor (an actual psychiatrist who went to school and it's more than capable and prepared how to address, treat and evolve with clear communication and next steps to look forward. My medications are sent to another pharmacy so I had to keep calling back them to fix them (even after 6 months). The PA that used to treat me has a tendency to try holistic ways such as supplements that don't specifically work and keeps sending more of them for several months even after explaining in detail how critical it's for us as patients to address certain issues even if it is for a specific amount of time. Dr. Bhatia is the most caring, attentive and helpful Psychiatrist I've seen. He is completely engaged in our conversations. I do not feel like he will have to "check my chart" to know who I am. My husband recommended Chris Lee as a psychiatric nurse practitioner per friends' recommendations, and I did not hesitate for a moment. Being in a medical field myself, I observed NPs in general having a different approach rather than doctors. Chris did not disappoint- he took his time to listen and carefully created a treating plan that fits my needs. The office is conveniently located in Brickell, and staff validates your parking for free. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Elevate psychiatry offers follow ups using a mobile app similar to how facetime/skype work, which saves you a trip or two. Dr. Bhatia has literally changed/saved my life. I battled such severe agoraphobia for 1.5 years and even trying to get to his office was a major milestone for me but the day I first saw him there was a major cataclysmic shift in my diagnosis. With a combination of mild non benzodiazepine medication (buspar) and monthly visits to keep my brain healthy, I have my real self back almost 100%. I drove from Hialeah Gardens to their office and it was totally worth the drive, finally a psychiatrist that can listen to me and finally a place I can have hope on, they give me hope and I felt elevated. Honestly not the worst psychiatrist office I've been too. Dr. Bhatia is a very good psychiatrist and they accommodated me while I moved to South Carolina while I searched for a provider closer to me. However, his physician assistant is awful. Polina truly made me hate my appointments and never truly addressed anything I ever said to her. Our appointments were about 10 minutes in length every time which isn't sufficient enough in my opinion and also, she was plain out rude every time and never addressed my issues I had. Feel like the appointments were very frequent and short as a money grabber (my opinion though) Keeps you on medications even though you expressed you don't like them and doesn't really assess your issues you're having with mental health. As I appreciate everything Dr. Bhatia has done for me as he is a great person and psychiatrist, his staff makes the practice dreadful.. I wanted to try Elevate for a long time and sent an email about insurance verification and treatment modalities. Since my treatment question was not able to be answered via email I had to call the office. The email stated my insurance was covered but when I spoke with Jane, she said it was not. I said I would pay out of pocket and proceeded to ask about treatment options for which I don't think she understood anything I asked. Sat down for my appointment. The woman was pleasant , talked to her for about 30 minutes until I asked her what school she went to and she responded that she was just the PA. I didn't say anything but I was shocked because the name title for the MD was right in front of her, she never announced that she was a PA and wasn't wearing any indication or a name tag . To get even worse she says that we will face time with the doctor ... she calls the doctor who answers and is DRIVING holding the phone where I can I can barely see him . I said hi and he introduced himself . He didn't ask me any questions, instead the PA and him were talking about my symptoms to each other . After about a two minute FaceTime they came up with the solution / what to prescribe . After I told him some contrary thoughts on it , he disagreed and assured me that what he said was the right thing to do. We hung up and the nice PA prescribed me the medicine . I payed $250 for the appointment for a 2 minute face time with the actual doctor . This was the most unprofessional visit , I have never experienced anything like it before . With a psychiatry appointment it is vital that a trained professional is the one who talks to you and listens in order to understand and I didn't get any of that . Seems like he just makes his PA do his work for him and face times patients to cover him so they can say that the MD met the patients. If you actually want help and treatment , I would not recceomend this place to anyone . read more
