I've been going to see Dr. Sam for more than 2 years now and have nothing but great things to say about about him as a practitioner. I've had back and neck issues for years (including ACDF neck surgery back in 2017) and he's been able to give me the adjustments I need to ensure I don't deal with pain or discomfort. This morning, I was with my mother and she was in a good amount of pain with her knee as well as back. She couldn't bend her knee and couldn't bend over to pick up anything. I immediately reached out to Dr. Sam and asked if there was any way that he could squeeze her in. Less than 3 hours later, we walked out of the center and my mom was feeling INFINITELY better. What an amazing place! Right when you walk in you are greeted with warm smile's from the office staff who are there to help and assist. Upon my second visit, they greeted me by name, and continue to make me feel welcomed. They are so kind, and attentive. When I had a question about a service, they not only shared the information with me, but also shared with me what my insurance would cover. That is going above and beyond. I have never been a fan of chiropractic care, however I gave it a try Because I could hardly turn my head, and was in so much pain when I tried. I couldn't believe the results! It was such a great help, Even just after the first visit, I had so much more range of motion in my neck. On another occasion, I had Sharon give me a therapeutic massage. It was truly magical. I came in, she asked what my specific concerns were and not only worked on those areas to relieve my pain, but also demonstrated and showed me how to do some stretches at home, which was extremely helpful. My Husband and I have been going to Shin Wellness for over 13 years and we love it. Wendy is one of the best Chiropractors we have ever been too. My husband was weary to even go to a chiropractor because in the past he didn't like hard adjustments. Wendy is gentle, she knows all the spots and spots half the time we didn't even know we were both having issues with. We also travel a lot and when we do, she will even find us chiropractors out of state. She's also very progressive in her practice, always up to speed on new treatments. My Husband had Spine decompression therapy there too and it saved him from surgery. we trust her immensely. Shin Wellness is amazing! My co-worker had recommended it when I hurt my back earlier this year. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, and the staff is extremely helpful and professional. Dr. Flores (chiropractor) is a miracle worker! I have experienced two back spasms this past year (mostly due to poor posture and the way I sit at work), and each time he has fixed me right up. He even gave me his cell phone number and asked me to call him after hours to let him know how I was doing. This is one of the few places where they genuinely care about their clients... which includes NOT prescribing pain medication. It's a holistic approach that more doctors should adopt. I have also attended one of Nanci Levine's free group hypnosis sessions... check out their website and sign up to attend! She does them once a month. The only down side is that the health insurance plans I have had this year (AvMed and BCBS) do not consider Shin Wellness "In-Network". A session is $75 and it goes down to $50 on your tenth visit, so it's still pretty reasonable even without the health insurance coverage. Thank sweet baby Jesus for places like Shin. Today I went for acupuncture for shoulder pain/relaxation and saw Chad B. for the first time. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Chad not only is nimble with the needles but he also gives one hell of a massage. Loves him. As for the facility, love it too. The ambiance is very Zen and very clean. Meditation music permeates the air, making you want to just curl up into fetal position and pass out in the waiting area. So if you ever need to unwind and just take care of YOU, go to Shin. LESS PAIN (indefinitely) THAN WHEN YOU ARRIVE!!!! I am very surprised to read the ONE negative review by "KAREN B", but even more surprised at her ridiculous "accusations" and "BIG RED FLAG". I have been a patient of Shin Wellness since 2006 and have been treated by not only Dr. Gallego, but by almost every one of the practitioners there and am totally shocked by the comments made on the above mentioned review. As far as MY experience at Shin....it has always been the exact OPPOSITE of what Karen B. has described in her review and I am extremely PLEASED with Shin and the staff!!! I will not waste my time addressing Karen B.'s comments individually because clearly, this woman has an agenda. No one writes such a "bashing" review with the intention of just "voicing" their experience. What I will do is let you all know how I feel about Shin by voicing MY opinion.... Not only have I been treated with exceptional care and tremendous respect each and every time I go there, I have also been EDUCATED on my condition and on how to avoid hurting myself in the future. The quality of care is most probably the best in the city when it comes to "chiropractic" care. Dr. Gallego is someone who has always demonstrated interest, compassion and wisdom when it comes to her patients and her practice. Qualities that are very hard to find from a medical provider in today's "insurance dictated health care system". The general staff (Terry, Karen and Julio) are always WILLING to help in any way they can...even if they can't "pick up the phone..." right away because they are tending to a well deserved patient. (the one actual comment from KAREN B. i will address directly) ;) I would much rather have a voicemail pick up my call so that they can be helping someone in pain. But then again, I dont have a selfish and self centered bone in my body...not all of us do. The massage therapists are some of the most seasoned and educated in the industry. I have noticed that many "therapists" I have tried, throughout my love affair with massage, claim to have this vast knowledge of the human body and the way it functions but once they put their hands on you you realize you've been "conned". Not here......these therapists truly know how to alleviate muscular fatigue and aide in reconditioning the muscular skeletal system. The Rehab therapist, Cyndee, is extremely knowledgeable about the muscular skeletal system and how to keep it in optimal performance. And her Thursday night Pilates class for back reinforcement is probably the best Pilates class i have ever taken because it not only gives you an amazing workout but it's main purpose is to teach you how to protect your back to prevent injury. (education that I am sure 100% of humanity would benefit from since we all have a "back"). The acupuncturist, Chad, has a way with totally balancing your body's "chi" that is something that cannot be described in a review, it has to be experienced. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE coming to this place and being treated by Dr. Gallego. I very much enjoy my interaction with the rest of the staff and the amazing energy that I get enveloped with from the moment I open the door the Shin. Condition: degenerative disk disease I'm a 6'4 , 230 lbs sport guy. I played basketball and worked out at the gym almost everyday, until I hurt my back (from L5 to L1) as the time went by. It was constantly painful that I couldn't even iron my shirt or do any other physical activity. For months I tried nonsurgical treatment with a physical therapy which didn't work at all. The surgery options are way too risky to even try it. I kept doing research for options, then I found the spinal decompression and it has been a total success. I have been through a whirlwind of treatment for my back injury over the years and no one has been as ignorant or selfish as this lady . Chiropractors are not accepted as members of the medical community and have about half the schooling as most Doctors . After a treatment she convinced me was in my best interest and upon looking backwards clearly outside of her scope of practice, I had to immediately go to the Emergency room for a two level epidural as she had aggravated the injury so severely i was left unable to walk or stand . Yes, it's true. I have ants in my pants. I can't sit still for long periods of time. MORE PAIN THAN WHEN YOU ARRIVE! I was excited to visit this facility because of all the GREAT reviews I read here on Yelp about Shin. My personal experience was anything but GREAT. First, no one picks up the phone. Constant answering machines....and then they don't return you call. You have to spend all your time calling hoping someone will pick up. Then they don't give you any information about services or prices....they want to check your insurance first. And they will only except out of network insurances. BIG RED FLAG! This means they only want to con your insurance out of money...out of network so they are not stuck with pre-negotiated prices as with network providers. And they tell you, no money out of your pocket....so, if you are stupid, they get rich. They took my insurance info...but never called me back. Possibly because I was not a car accident victim, PIP insurance claim. I continued to press on. Finally got in. I was going to pay cash and deal with my insurance claims myself. One visit, OK. Next visit, they caused me more pain than when I first arrived. I thought that maybe you have to get worse to get better....so I gave them another visit. On the third visit, I could not walk or even stand up straight. I had to go to the ER. I was told that what they did to me (treatment) should not have been done. I never went back. Now I have received my Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company. I have overpaid and Shin was to reimburse me. I went into Shin with the documents from the insurance company and spoke with Dr. Gallego (owner). What a rude and arrogant woman. She immediately started giving me a 101 excuses, none of which I gave a sh*t on how she ran her business. My only concern was how much I paid and the insurance coverage. SHE REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME! I got my insurance company involved, whom wrote to her and demanded that she return the money. I guess she thought about it (having insurance company involved) because she finally returned the money. She never said sorry, I made a mistake. Her arrogant self, wrote a letter stating that it is difficult to keep up with all the insurance rules. I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THIS PLACE NO STARS...BUT YOU MUST ENTER ONE. SO THIS WHY I GAVE IT ONE STAR. IF YOU HURT, AND COULD RUN, RUN!
