Bowl of the spicy buffalo chicken wings
Tony U.

Why I'd go back: the wings You HAVE to order: The Wings Tony's Tip: THE WINGS! Okay, this review may be premature, as we literally only had the wings...because that's what EVERYONE orders and we were having a filler meal (mid-afternoon) before a big pasta dinner. But the buffalo wings were perfection. Moist, with a spicy, savory classic sauce that hit the palate just right. We powered through a healthy amount of 20 or so in about 15 minutes. Apart from the wings, the menu is actually huge, and from what we saw of others' orders, the portions were generous, the service abundant, and the prices very affordable (our wings were less than 20 Euro). A must stop if you're visiting Dublin!

This was one of the cutest restaurants I found in Dublin. The interior was a cute cross between modern and vintage. The paneled walls made the space feel so cozy! The service was very good, and fast compared to most other places we went to in Dublin. The food was great and very fresh! I got a roasted zucchini sandwich and it was great! Would highly recommend!

Arrived quickly...nice (seeded) bun.

Visited on a fairly busy Sunday evening but were greeted and seated rapidly into the pretty noisy restaurant. I had the Chicken mozzarella sandwich (see photo) which was tasty thanks to the combination of lots of smooth cheese, a fresh bun and chicken cooked to an ideal temp. The fries were nothing special and arrived barely warm. Two items caused a drop from 4 to 3 stars. Our server never came back to check on us... disappointing as she was originally quite friendly. Second, during our visit the restaurant experienced lots of tiny black flies...an issue noticed by tables on both sides. All the above said, we'd include the Elephant & Castle on our list when we're next in the area.

It looked like a very popular spot so we Stopped by for brunch and it was ok. Inside was spacious with tons of seating. The menu was decent and people were raving about the food there so I was excited to try. I settled for the Irish breakfast which I thought was very mediocre. Nothing very special about it. Price was a little high for the food. Service was ok. We were not very tended to. Kind of given our food and forgotten about.

Superb eatery. Wasn't one I was familiar with and decided to try it on a recommendation. It was quite busy so it was a little tricky getting the order in and there was a slightly longer than desirable wait, but nothing particularly over the top, and besides, the food was well worth the wait. Best chicken wings I've had in a while, great chips and a decent selection of drinks both alcoholic and soft. Great if you are passing and also worth going out of your way for.

Avocado Toast

EVERY. Single. Table. Gets the wings. Every table. I swear. Their wings are small, but piled high. People come in here specially for the wings and it does make sense. They were super crispy and dunked in buffalo. The avocado toast with eggs is also super simple and good. We already said we might stop back in for the wings!

Visited for brunch on a Saturday morning. We got the last table before a long wait which worked out nicely!! Got the cappuccino and eggs florentine which were really good!

My chicken & roasted vegetables risotto.

We were walking the Temple Bar area and the locations that were still serving food were quickly closing or converting to BAR ONLY so we were grateful to get into the Elephant & Castle. While we did decide to stay, they informed us right away that they had run out of all the burgers except for the fried chicken sandwich. My wife and youngest son decided they would share the wings and the "dirty fries". Both were delicious and popular with the whole group. I had the risotto of the day, which was roasted peppers. It too was very good. My oldest had the Cesar salad which he enjoyed. My daughter was caught off guard with her sliced chicken sandwich. It was labeled having curry mayonnaise but she was surprised how strong the curry flavor was. I tasted it and liked it but she was right, it was NOT a hint but very very potent. Still we all enjoyed our dinner and the boys had their Peroni's. I thought their homemade Gingerale was OK. More like a ginger lemonade than a sparkling drink.

Big chicken wing girl - THESE were amazing !

Crispy but perfectly glazed in the sauce - the chicken wings were amazing. For any chicken wing lovers I would 10/10 recommend making a pit stop here. I love how they were prepared for the chicken wing clean up too!

Irish Salmon

Irish Salmon. Can't go wrong especially with fish from here. Pan seared perfectly and portion was very generous. I could not finish it. Although I thought salmon with mash seemed strange, they did kind of go together. Was a tad bit too salty for me though. Service was good and the location at Temple Bar is superb. Great buzz and energy

This might have been the best Irish Breakfast I have ever had! It was so good we came back the next night for dinner and the Wings and Fish and Chips were just as good. I will say the overall the staff was what really shined. As amazing as the food was what we really remember is how friendly and funny all while super attentive. Don't skip this place!

Smoked salmon open faced sandwich
Jenny T.

This was open pretty late. Got the open face salmon special and it didn't disappoint. Good smoked salmon on a soft brown bread with light sauce and slices of avocado. The salad was a bit too onion-y for me but went well with the fish. Loved those caper berries. I also got the homemade ginger ale - it was decent. Glad we stopped in.

Amazing Buffalo Wings!
Gina V.

Great service and quickly seated in spite of being in the very trendy Temple Bar area! I have to admit that these are in the top two of best wings I've ever had- and I try them everywhere they're on the menu! It was extremely surprising to find such great buffalo wings in Ireland! They were perfectly cooked- crispy on the outside-juicy & tender inside and the sauce was 10/10. To make this deal even sweeter- 20 wings were under 18€! I was shocked because wings in the US have become incredibly expensive. The mussels and frites were great too!

We definitely weren't the only ones coming in to try this place. The space is smaller and was packed so we had to wait about 20 minutes to get in. Online you can book a reservation if you call. I will say you have to climb a flight of stairs to get into the restaurant and we had to wait in line on the stairs so keep that in mind. Inside is such a lively vibe. There is a bar but no bar seating and appeared to be all sit down tables. To the food now... wow what a treat! Between my husband and I, we got the Garlic Bread appetizer and the Guinness Beef Stew and Coddle for our main meals. The garlic bread was nice and crispy and the garlic dip it came with was excellent. The rocket (arugula) on top helped to lighten it up. Now the main meals were definitely something else. The beef in the stew was tender and there was a lot of time put into the base I can tell as it had such a deep flavor. The Coddle, which originated in Dublin we learned, is something you need to try if you visit. Basically sausages and mashed potatoes put into a flavorful potato soup like what's not to love. The server's were wonderful and the food came out quickly. Great portions for the price. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to all of the staff for a wonderful experience!!

We purchased the platter which included Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork and Wings. Came with two sides, so I had to try the Mac n' Cheese and Baked Beans and it also included fresh dinner rolls. Ribs - smokey and tender. I would love to go back during the lunch rush when they come out fresh, but since we were there around 20:00, they had been sitting for a while. But even though they had been sitting, they were still amazing. They were glazed perfectly, and the tender, juicy meat was amazing. Some would say "fall of the bone" are the best, but that just means they are overcooked. These ribs had just the right amount of tenderness. So amazing. Brisket - also amazing. Had a perfect smoke ring, and was tender and juicy. The slices had the perfect pull, and were so deliscious. Pulled Pork - tender, juicy and succulent. Not mushy as sometimes can happen if it sits too long. This pork was simply amazing. Smokey, moist and perfect. I added some of the BBQ sauce, and it was simply deliscious. Chicken wings - cooked to perfection. Also asked for them to be dry so that we could try the different sauces. So tender and juicy. Mac n' Cheese - sometimes places will have a big pan and will just scoop it out onto the plate. Not here at Smonin' Bones. They make it fressh and put it into a dish, add some extra cheese on top and then broil it. So yummy. I could have eaten a lot more of it. Baked Beans - probably my least favorite of the night. The beans were a little under-done, so they had a little bit of a crunch. But the flavor was good. Keep working on that. Overall a wonderful, delightful surprise.

With my Benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly and with the soft boxty being the base instead of the usual bread it was a fun twist on a classic. My husband was happy to try an Irish Breakfast while in the country and he definitely enjoyed it. I tried the black and white pudding which was new to me and it tastes like a stronger version of sausage for those curious. We ended off with the Bread + Butter pudding which was sweet and moist. A great way to finish off the meal. The portions and flavor were worth the value. Why my review is lower though is the service. The waiter was very nice but initially it took at least 10 minutes for him to even approach us to get drinks at least. The restaurant wasn't full and there were maybe only 3 other tables besides us. We then were asked to move to a different table for another party and we still hadn't received anything or placed our food order. After eating it took some time to get the check too. Maybe it was a bad day I don't know but breakfast should be quick and this was not that. Thank you to the staff for the experience.

Such a change from the last experience a year ago…read more We had 8:30 PM reservations. Arrived around 8:10 and were told to wait at the bar. No problem, it's NYE, we can wait for out booked time. Less than 5 minutes later we were lead to a table, not even time to order a drink! We shared everything. Ordered cocktails to begin with. They were ok, two different old fashioned drinks. We tried to order bone marrow, scallops, tuna tataki and a Caesar salad as starters. They were already out of the bone marrow and scallops. It's a holiday, you know there are reservations... what?! Poor management and planning!! They recommended the lamb kidneys... never had them before, super gross. I'll never do that again. It smelled like urine! We ordered the burger and 14 oz sirloin to share, medium rare on the steak. Polenta fries, and mashed potatoes. The polenta fries were outstanding! The burger was delicious! Smokey flavor, it was great. It came with huge steak fries, I prefer shoestring. The steak was not tender. Had a better steak sandwich at the Morrison for lunch. All in all, I will not be going back nor recommending this place. The wine I ordered never arrived, our water was never refilled. In fact, after the food arrived, we never saw anyone again!! When the check came with an obligatory 12.5% tip I missed it and paid. Once I noticed, I flipped out!! This was the worst service ever!! I double check tipping culture in Ireland before I complain. 10% is good for good service and bad service is ok to leave zero tip. So I asked for it back. They gave me credit for the tip but not the tax on tip. Unimpressed. Won't go again.
