Since the new pro skateboard manager Shawn has taken over at Zumiez it's the only place my son and I go, we spend a lot of money on boards, wheels, trucks, bushings, so forth. I make custom boards, bushings and even rails and other hardware, so take that into account here. Shawn has provided not only friendly customer service, making us all feel like family when we walk in each and every time, but true insight on the parts we buy, how they will ride, and tips on skating including the shoes we have bought. This man is a true treasure, and the best manager I've seen in any of the two Zumiez in town since 2008! Some of the managers in the past where very unwelcoming, I've since had my faith restored in this shop and it's now my favorite!

I will never purchase ANYTHING from this store again EVER. Yesterday I purchased a pair of shoes…read morefrom Zumiez at the East Towne store in Madison, WI. When I returned home I checked my bank account online. The store had charged my credit card $118.50 TWICE.. for ONE pair of shoes. When I called the store to complain the person I spoke to was rude and told me they would not correct their mistake unless I returned to the store with my receipt - in person. This is no way to treat a paying customer. I do not live nearby the store. What a rip-off. I had no choice but to contact my bank and tell them what the store did to me. My bank has given me provisional credit while they investigate the matter. I would not recommend this store to ANYBODY.

My latest visit was to help someone find boots that fit. Her build (short, strong calves) requires a wider boot cuff. Most boots don't fit, so we were getting panicked about finding her something. The gentleman helping us (didn't get his name) was extremely helpful. Most important, he was honest. While he said her situation isn't uncommon, they didn't have a lot of boots in stock, and unfortunately, didn't have one that fit her. I appreciate that he didn't try to sell us something, or to come back some other time in the distant future, etc. We had found a different place that had a boot that fit her - he suggested we get it. Service like that will get me to come back in next time I need something they offer. The store, otherwise, is clean and well organized. Their health precautions were extraordinary - we actually had to wait inside as they seemed to be limiting customers to how many attendants they had working. I had no problem waiting. Their selection is good. Prices can feel high - but they carry quality products. If you want cheap stuff, you'll want to shop elsewhere.

The store is cramped as it is overflowing with bikes and gear and seems a little disorganized, but if you're just a little patient, you won't be disappointed. Very friendly folks!

Giving Cranked Bike Studio a one-star review is a truly fair review in my opinion, and one they…read morehave worked hard to earn. At the end of last summer (2025) I ran into a structural problem with my bike, that I brought off of Amazon, luckily for me the warranty gave me a new frame, however I had to find a place who could replace the frame. So, I reached out to Cranked Bike Studio, and they replaced the frame. However, due to the delay in getting the part from China by the time I got the bike back it was just too cold to ride it, so I stored the bike away until this past April when we had good days to ride the bike. I only got to ride the bike for one week and 67 miles, before the pedal assist went out, and the brakes would make a loud noise at 20 miles per hour or faster. I brought the bike back into Cranked Bike Studio. Explained to them they had done the frame swap/ rebuild and this is my first week riding the bike since then, told them the pedals assist isn't working, and the brakes are noisy at high speeds. So they said they will check it out and it would be a bit more than a week. Nearly three weeks later they reached out to let me know the bike is ready. They explained the PSA assist stop working because the pedals were loose, this really was the true cause of the issue. I asked about the breaks. He told me that they didn't know I had reported an issue with the breaks, and said sometimes they are not great at their in-take process. So I asked could they check out the breaks before I come to pick up the bike. He had then started to tell me that breaks are just noisy, clearly conveying they didn't want to work on the bike any further. In my head all I can think is this is a safety issue. I can't ride this bike until I know these brakes are safe. I am going to have to take it to another shop. So then I asked about what the charge is for fixing the bike. He explained because they only needed to tighten the bike pedals, they were going to charge me the $125 inspection fee and no labor cost, giving me a deal on the repair. So I am thinking about this, I am getting charged for a $125 inspection fee, but you're unwilling to inspect my breaks to see if my bike is safe to ride. Maybe this same thought clicked in his mind because he then said, we will check out the noisy breaks, as they are pretty easy to quiet. So are the breaks on my bike safe or did they just quiet them? So the next day I arrived. They assured me the pedals are nice and tight, how they should last a good while, as I assumed they would have done when they rebuilt the bike, and they explained it was the vibration of the bike that loosen the pedals. They explained how they cleaned up the breaks and they were nice and quiet now. So I decided to explained to them for the second time how had paid over $400 for a frame swap/ rebuild, they were the ones that rebuilt the bike, last ones that tightened up the pedals, and the last ones to reassembled my breaks. So I had clearly pointed out after riding the bike for one week and for only 67 miles it hard to believe that it was the vibration that loosen the pedals. With this new information the employee then decided to cut me an even better deal instead of charging me $125 for the bike inspection fee they charge me $56 for fixing the breaks and to have the pedals tightened. Reflecting back to the phone conversation the day before. Are the breaks fixed or just quieted? Is my bike safe to ride? Did this small bike studio open themselves up to a potential personal injury lawsuit? So to recap, I left Cranked Bike Studio paying them for the Improper job they did rebuilding my bike. Had my Intelligence insulted by being told the pedals became lose from vibration, and that noisy breaks are simply not worth inspecting. All of this has communicated to me, and hopefully to you as a reader. Profit is more if a priority than the safety of the customer. Would you ride my bike?
