The massage therapists my husband and I had did not create a very warm and welcoming environment, though my husband said Lari was much better than I described Frieda as being. Concerning Frieda, she did not do the integrative reflexology I paid an extra 30$ for (she spent MAX 5 min of the whole massage on hands and feet together and none on ears). When I mentioned this to the receptionist checking us out, she would not ask the therapist or refund us, only offering a coupon. She never told me when to get changed or that we were done. I've been getting messages elsewhere for years and we just moved to the area. While I know each therapist has their own style, I would say Frieda was more neglectful than anything. My husband received a recommendation for future care card afterwards. I did not. She appeared to ignore EVERYTHING I WROTE on the forms I filled out. And worst of all, even though I told her I wanted to work on sciatic pain, she all but ignored my hip and lower back area and kept my body in a weird crunched position such that I am in more sciatic nerve pain now, 2 days later than I was before I went in (I was having a good day that day, but my pain was a 6 or 7 when I left). Finally, at other massage places I have been asked if I am comfortable and offered pillows or towels under my shoulders because I have fairly large breasts and when I am face down with someone putting pressure on my upper back, it hurts my breasts. Not only did Frieda not offer, she acted bothered that I asked after it, and when she did finally concede she brought a single pillow first, like she didn't even understand understand what I was asking for. My husband and I were vetting this place to become our regular twice a month massage place. I will definitely never be returning here again to be swindled and leave in pain. read more

I highly recommend. I took the 80 minute full body massage, and I am so satisfied. Jammie (pronounced Jamie) did my massage and she made sure I was comfortable the whole time, it being my first massage and all. She offered to change the pressure and heat on the bed and was overall very attentive to my needs. Also, there wasn't much pressure at the sales desk in the front. I've been seeing Emily for about 3 months in a row now and I feel amazing! Like many, I suffer from severe lower back pain and unfortunately I overcompensate my upper body which results in tight shoulders and neck pain. Emily is fantastic at understanding where your pain and tension is and executes her skills wonderfully. She is very sweet and down to earth and you just feel like you're chatting with a friend! Another thing I love is that at the end of your session, she gives you a card with suggestions to better your pain relief on your own until your next session. However, am I the only person who thinks it's wrong to tell the customer (both on the phone and at the desk) that the massage will be 90 minutes long,when it is actually 80 minutes? I had heard such good things about Elements I am truly disappointed. I went into the elements in Beverly to buy a card for my sister, who is expecting. When I saw the deal that was offered, I bought one for myself as well. A few days later, I was at the mall and say a stand that offered gift cards. The deal was much better and I was also told that a free 30 minute card came with it. The next day I returned to the mall to exchange my gift cards for the deal offered and was told I had to go all the way back to the actual place. Oh and they aren't offering the free gift card anymore. I haven't actually used mine yet, but my sister did. She said the massage was mediocre at best and the aroma threapy was so strong it made her eyes water. She also felt way too much sales pressure when she left. She had to state she didn't want to purchase a member ship three times before they let her out the door. Pass. read more

I booked a couples massage over valentine's weekend for $99 because I got a coupon in the mail. Great deal, no arguments here. However, I was told that someone would be calling me a couple of days before the appointment to inform me they would be charing my credit card on file and requiring that I pre-pay the appointment. No one called me, but when I left my massage appointment, I was told I was all set and had prepaid. I checked my account a day later and realized an extra $20 was drafted from my account. I called up Elements and spoke to someone about it who told me the manager would be calling me back. When the manager called me, I found her cold and rude. She told me that a note on my account stated that someone called me to remind me of the appointment (uh, no, it was all done via e-mail), and that the person informed me of a $20 up-charge to have the massages in the same room (uh, no, again), and that I did in fact opt for the shared room at an additional charge (yeah, no...), and I authorized the additional $20 charge (haha, nope, again). In fact, as I explained to her, when my boyfriend and I walked into the massage room and I saw the two beds in a shared room, I told one of the therapists that I was told the rooms would be separate. She asked if it would be ok if we shared a room and I said yes, but was confused because when I booked them I was told separate rooms. I didn't think anything of it. The manager who called me back, then subsequently sent me an e-mail, Becky, kept stating that the notes on my account said someone called me and I accepted the additional charges. It was as if she thought I was lying. Very unfriendly and made me feel defensive about something that went wrong on their end. I won't go back there again, which is too bad because I enjoyed the massage but did not enjoy the booking/payment/management. read more

If I only I could give you less than one star - this is a rip off - beware the fine print, because they will get you every way they can. I was a member for almost a year and only kept my membership bc I found a massage therapist that I loved - she was so unhappy with the management that she left. Once, my massage table squeaked the entire massage - I should have ended the apt. immediatly, when I mentioned this to the front desk, the women said "oh, I know, sorry about that" ... really, there are 10 other rooms.. and you had to put me in the squeaky one??? I waited more than 30 days after my membership ended to use my final certificate, and when I just called to make the apt was told that it expired.. after 30 days.. I can see after one year... after 30 days? because when you are a member you can let those unused apts just pile up, because they do not care about your experience or your loyalty.. just keep with the automatic monthly fees. My first time in Elements Massage and I signed up to be a member. Yes, it doesn't have a spa feel and I think the owner can improve on that. It doesn't have a nice and relaxing atmosphere and could certainly be accomplished by aromatherapy candles etc. Rooms are clean, but again the owner can definitely make the rooms a bit more relaxing, with candles, aromatherapy oils etc. As a former Massage therapy myself, I know it could be done and after reading reviews look like a lot of people complain about that. However, the spas usually provide the " fluff and Buff" type of massage, not a therapeutic, injury related body work. So I had Steven as a massage therapy, and let me tell you, he was one of the best massage therapist I ever had ( and I got a lot of massages being in this industry). I came to Elements Massage with upper back pain and requested a deep tissue. Steven proved himself being very knowledgable and thorough therapist. I felt 100%better right away. I strongly suggest Steven to people who is looking for a therapeutic massage and not "fluff and buff". read more

My experience is somewhat similar to Lindsay E! I will probably never ever go back here. It was my first professional massage. I had a coupon for a 99$ couples massage. I called on 2/14/13 to book a massage. I gave them my credit card to hold on file thinking I would be charged. I checked my bank actthat night and say my payment hadn't been taken out. I called that night a 5:58 pm and said "i noticed I wasn't charged yet,do you normally charge.the day of the apt" the girl who answered said yes, so I asked.would it be okay to charge me now,and prepay so I don't have to pay the time of the appointment. This was because it was a present for my boyfriend for Valentine's day and I didn't want him to know the price. I called back again on the 21st to book the couples room and was told I would owe 20$ on my apt for that date I said sure no problem . Here's the best part. We have our amazing massages with Katie and Megan I highly reccomend them if you want to take your chances with the nasty manager of this establishment. We leave our massages and I hand my coupon to the 14 year old girl working the front. She says "okay and you would like me to put the $99 on your card and the rest incash"REALLLLY! I was livid. I said no I prepaid, as my boyfriend is standing next to me. She says no.its not.on his account or yours. Well why the heck would it.be on his account if it was a present you just ruined. So the nasty manager comes out and says I never paid and basically accused me of lying. I told her I would find my bank statement and come back and she would refund me. This is the second time I have posted a review on yelp for Elements Massage in Beverly, MA. I don't know why my review was taken down perhaps because it was too factual. I would not recommend Elements Therapeutic Massage, I had my scheduled appointments canceled no less than 20 times. The therapists are leaving because as I have been informed management does not treat their people well. I have been going to Elements for about 2 years and in that time have seen at least 10 therapists leave. I was charged for a service that was not performed. Very unprofessional outfit. I would recommend you run don't walk to another reputable establishment this is definitely not it. Great establishment. There's new management, and you can definitely see the change for the better! The front desk has fresh faces, all very friendly and accomodating. Definitely suggest booking out with your favorite therapist - since the location has over 900 members, therapists book out, and there's awesome raffles if you book out as well! Buyer beware on the membership policy of Elements. The majority of the massages I have received have been mediocre at best, until I found 1 therapist that was worth the time, only to have her come in 1 day week, so she is incredibly difficult to book with. My husband bought this for me as a gift. Which was incredibly thoughtful, but unfortunately, he (like most husbands) didn't read the fine print. They charge your credit card monthly for 1 massage per month. But watch out if you rack up credits. Their cancellation policy is pretty ridiculous and requires that you have to come in person to sign a form, they take 30 days to process, so will continue to bill your card, and any credits you have left, must be used within 30 days or you lose them. You can get gift cards for the massages, but they charge you $10 per gift card as a processing fee. RIDICULOUS. The atmosphere is nice, the massages are just ok, but its the membership policy that has completely turned me off of this place. I am DONE with Elements. read more
