I said why not give it a try I walked into Grateful Heard Studio in Crestview. It felt so welcoming I met Gracie and she was so nice she helped me get started. The class was so good she gave tips and advice. The classes vary in experience level I'm a 0 level I do 3 to 4 1 hour classes a week. I could go on & on. The bottom line Yoga was exactly what I needed. Walking is good but Yoga works my mind and my body. I started feeling stronger, my last 10 lbs fell off, and my energy level skyrocketed. Yoga is not just for girls! LOL. You have to try it do a drop in $15.00 try it you won't regret it.

So I emailed Felicia McQuaid who is a Reiki Master and a Yoga instructor and found out when her "gentle" yoga class was since I was a newbie. So I show up early to the class at 9:45 am on Wednesday and Felicia is out sick that morning and their recently graduated instructor Kristin was going to be teaching the class. Kristin was amazing for a first time teacher of the class, even though she admitted to being nervous. I can't wait to go back later this year and visit the studio again for another class. It's got me amped up to even trying a few classes back home here in Nashville. A must go to place if you go down there.

I found this studio via Yelp and decided to give it a try. After a stressful week of taking care…read moreof my mother in the hospital, this is exactly what I needed. The entrance to the studio is on Brooks street, not Miracle Strip Parkway. The studio was inviting and warm. The yoga room was pretty bare and lacked mirrors. Also, the traffic was not well hidden via the curtains. If you have a wondering mind, like I do, it's best to setup your mat away from the windows to avoid distractions. The floor in the yoga room is slippery once your body warms up, so make sure your feet don't go beyond your mat. The instructor was really friendly and upbeat and the class was fun. I took some sort of Yoga fo' Shoga class which was set to freestyle rap. The class was setup so the instructor walked us through certain flows a few times, then we were set free to add variations of own. This was fine, however, I think I have a better practice in a 100% guided class. Also, if you're a newbie, it may be hard to add in extra poses if you don't know them. The instructor closed the class singing and playing guitar, which was awesome. She had a great soothing voice and could play the guitar well. The other students in the class were friendly, and it appeared as though everyone knew everyone. All in all, I had an enjoyable time, and I hope to return before I leave town.

I even recently had an Achilles injury from running and the Physical Therapist told me I needed to incorporate yoga into my life. I guess now that I'm in my 40's it's time for me to accept that yoga is no longer an option but a requirement for my life!! They have numerous classes and I'm definitely a beginner in the yoga world. Some of the members are very advanced but the lead instructor, Susan, is always mindful of beginners and makes sure we have options to survive!!
