We came here a few weeks ago, shortly after its soft opening. The place was empty when we arrived, and although we were there somewhat early (5pm ish), I also suspect that not everyone knows about Element Five (which is a Chinese-inspired version of the popular 1990 Vegan Living, and under the same ownership umbrella of that and a few other restaurants).
Just like 1990, the concept is that you can order bigger meals or small bowls to share. We got seven small bowls to share:
Großmeister Lee (tempeh, bok choi, garlic)
Wan Tan (wan tan filled with tofu and mushrooms)
Golden Shrimmmp (soy strips in a tamarind sauce)
Peking Duck (soy strips with baby corn in a plum sauce)
Endless Love (yellow curry with tofu and veggies)
Kho Tau (tofustrips in a lemongrass soy sauce)
Herbstbeet (marinated tofu cubes with chili, lemongrass, and veggies)
Overall I found the flavors were tasty, but they all kind of melded into one in my mind (as is often the case, for me anyway, with tapas-like places). I do know I really liked the one with the bok choi, and I think the chili tofu one was also a favorite. I didn't love everything but I liked it enough to know I want to go back again some time and try more items on the menu.
In addition I had a tea that was really wonderful, and the service was very friendly and accommodating. read more
