If you need a place to stay that is convenient to Aspen, and you're not balling out of control, check out this place. Despite what you may think, I am not balling out of control. In fact, this area reinforces just how far from a baller I really am. Like, I would be considered a baller in a third-world country where the average daily wage is $1. This ain't that place. This hotel was recommended to me by the company that hired me to come to town. It is part of the Mariott chain and is located right off of the highway around 30 minutes from where I needed to be. Because it was the off-season I ended up with a suite for around $400 a night. That seems rather high for the type of hotel but compared to places in the area, it was a steal of a deal. The hotel was clean, the service was nice, and the view from the window was pretty awesome. The area around the hotel had great restaurants and was safe to walk around. I had never stayed at an Element but I would compare the property and the room to Homewood suites if you're familiar with that chain. If you find yourself in the area, I would include this hotel on your list. read more

There are a few restaurants within walking distance such as a brewery, Mexican restaurant, brewery, and ice cream shop. There's also a Whole Foods nearby. Basalt is about 30 min drive away from Aspen. ROOM: got a room with 1 king bed and it was pretty spacious. Comfortable for 2 people and 2 dogs. Room also had a full couch, desk, stove, entire fridge, and dishwasher! It came with pots and pans and everything you need for cooking. Full length mirror on the bathroom door. The mirror inside the bathroom is huge and so nicely backlit. Bathroom had a shower. AMENITIES: free parking (street parking or the lot in the back). Free breakfast in the mornings. It's your typical continental hotel breakfast (bagels, toast, sausage, eggs, yogurt). Not great but it's convenient to be able to grab a quick bite before heading out for adventures. There's a giant pool, pretty nice gym and a hot tub. The hot tub is outside and was not really hot, more like Luke warm. Lots of tables outside as well as bbq grills. They have a few bikes that you can borrow for free. read more

Upon arrival the water was shut off to the entire building. It did not come back on until 6 pm. The front desk refused to even provide bottled water for guests. How shortsighted and unaccommodating. No showers, flushing toilets, doing dishes, or drinking water. The rooms are quiet from street noise... BUT, the floors allow the transmission of noises from the units above. The ceiling squeaked loudly as the upstairs guest walked around. The sliding closet doors from above were noisy too. HINT: request a 4th floor room so you're on top of everyone. Rooms are slightly worn. Carpet pieces loose, walls dented and in need of touch up paint. read more

I always like staying at an Element, and the Element Basalt is in a great location. Located in the bustling Willits Town Center, the Element Basalt is surrounded by plenty of dining and shopping options, Starbucks, Whole Foods, a park, and a bus stop. It is a hotel that can be a place to stay at for a night or two, and it is also a place that you can stay long-term at. The standard king only has a kitchenette, but the studios and suites have a full kitchen. Amenities include a pool, fitness center, and laundry room. There is a free continental breakfast daily, and it has a nice variety to choose from. Parking is free too, but it is outside as there is no garage. I have stayed in a studio king twice. The studio is spacious, and the king room has a large sectional sofa that is also a sofa bed. The kitchen is a decent size, and it is fully equipped. The closet is a decent size as well, and the shower is roomy. The rooms are in good condition, but the walls are a little thin. For a hotel, the Element Basalt is a more budget-friendly option compared to staying in Snowmass or Aspen. The free breakfast and free parking are huge pluses. For a long-term stay, the rates are not bad at all considering that you are in a nice place and get free breakfast, free parking, and weekly housekeeping service. Verdict: Aspen might be a bit of a stretch but this is a good hotel and much less of a stretch on the budget. A good 4.5 for a good hotel. Everything was clean. There are a handful of restaurants right there and a Whole Foods as well. Need to burn off some of those calories? You're in luck. They have a sizable gym. Not exactly an Olympic sized pool but they have one and a hot tub too. You can tell this place caters to the Aspen crowd because they have a pretty nice looking ski room right by the lobby. If it's the warmer season, you have a nice outside area to hang out as well. The breakfast had everything you could want and more. You can eat as healthfully or unhealthfully as you like. Generally I like the Element brand. The rooms are practical with a lot of surfaces to lay out gear. This property seems a bit beat up with scuffs on the walls, stains on the rugs and upholstery. Also the general housekeeping was weak with clear breached in the bathroom and elsewhere. Some equipment in the room was not working correctly...toilet running constantly, room safe locked out. Mu general impression is that the property is running understaffed and there is no QC happening. read more

Love this location. I've been back at least four times minimum. This is a great hotel that we used as a base while exploring Maroon Bells in Aspen. It's a short drive. Location sets this hotel as above the rest. Surrounded by food and a Whole Foods just a few feet away from the hotel. For those summer nights when you want to BBQ some meat before heading out the following day. Access to WF is so convenient. The outdoor grill at the hotel is there for everyone to use. Free breakfast. Free happy hour starts at five every day. Indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. What more do you need. read more

I have allergies and I was leery staying at element because it's a division of Westin. Westin is notorious for spraying their signature scent everywhere...so much so I can't even walk into the lobby....so I was hesitant to take the plunge. However, I'm glad I did. This hotel is new, beautiful, Leed certified and the staff is very friendly. The best part? It smells like air, not air freshener. Although there are some small quirks that come with a new building (mismatched white paint and cracks in the ceiling plaster) they were easily overlooked because I felt so comfortable. As I've aged room cleanliness has become more important and my room felt like it had never been slept in. Absolute perfection. The mini kitchen was very nice and included a fridge, microwave, coffee pot plus dishes and cutlery. Which came in very handy when I decided to eat my leftovers from dinner. I had some rowdy drunk college kids that woke me up every night but I called the front desk and they took care of it. Really the weirdest and most irritating thing happened as I was checking out at 7 am. Someone had taken all of the luggage carts and hidden them. I'm sure it was a prank but the front desk man said they hadn't been able to find them so I had to lug all of my luggage through the snow and into the car. For those who aren't familiar, element is like an Aloft but with suites. Overall, I had a very good time and would recommend element again because the issues I had were caused by the guests not the hotel. read more

The charges were not authorized by any of us. 16 days later we are still trying to get the hotel to refund the charges but we just get excuse after excuse (we're locked out of our computer systems / the accounting system is down / we've had a change of ownership. My wife and I decided to take in 4 nights over Christmas. While it is a Bonvoy property, in my opinion it does not live up to the Marriott brand. This is a Westin property (owned by Marriott) and as a lifetime titanium member I guess I just expect a little better than what we had. First, the kitchen in the suite (unlike I thought the Marriott Residence Inn had) does not include an oven (I was told by the manager that there are no ovens in Residence Inn either due to safety). It has a small 2 burner cook top and a microwave. Yes, a full size fridge and dishwasher is included as well. There is also only a small counter top to eat at for 2 people. When we checked in, we discovered that there was only 1 small bowl among the dishes, and a pasta pot and small saucepan for cooking. No frying pan. I went to the front desk and asked for another bowl and frying pan, which were eventually brought up. The inside of the dishwasher was absolutely nasty (pictures provided).The room (king studio) was smaller than I like, and the traffic noise from our side of the building along the highway was brutal at times. We also had heavy foot walking noise from the room above us at all hours. The building does not appear to be well insulated between floors. Breakfast was included and consisted of cold cereal, juice, fruit, milk, and an attendant that would toast bagels or English muffins. They also had the standard pre-made and frozen eggs, sausage and omelette. We opted to go next door to get some groceries at the Natural Foods and make our own. The location is great, next to a brew pub, Natural Foods, and a few restaurants. While it was an acceptable stay, we won't be back. The value for what we got just wasn't there. We will stick with the Marriott properties. read more

I've been a big fan of element hotels over the years. They have a decent breakfast, large spacious suites, are very comfortable, and very reasonably priced. This element was no exception, except for the fact it was located next to a busy freeway. The element is located within walking distance to whole foods and a liquor store, everything you need for an extended stay. Even better, we were upgraded to a suite... that was located facing the freeway. I'm a heavy sleeper which worked well, but the other people in my party heard the noise all night on. For those who have never stayed at an element, this is a classy extended stay hotel, with a fully stocked kitchenette, basic but nicely appointed bathroom, and a comfy bed. Gym is also basic but has all the machines you need, and the lobby is also very welcoming. read more

Terrific utilitarian hotel that meets most needs. Love that the rooms have a mini kitchen w/ microwave, stovetop and refrigerator. Spacious rooms with lots of light and fresh air (yes -- windows open)! Felt moderately comfortable with pandemic protocols in place. Staff is wonderful -- kind, friendly and helpful. And conveniently located to Whole Foods, Starbucks and a good wine shop. A few restaurants near by that are good (not great) too -- although in fairness we just did take-away so hard to know if food would have been better plated and served warm. Note however -- the road noise is very loud. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be your best choice. And while in miles, the property is close to Aspen it can take up to an hour or more with skier traffic to get to the hill. read more

Stayed here from Wednesday the 18th through Sunday morning the 22nd. 4 nights in a double queen bed hotel room with one of my best friends. The rooms were spacious and had a mini kitchen in the room with a fridge, electric stove top, microwave and coffee maker. They had a continental breakfast every morning, complete with hot foods including premade eggs, sausage, bagels, breads and a chobini yogurt station. There was also multiple cereals and juices. Also, they had a complimentary happy hour that consisted of local beers, wine, cheese and artisnal bread and olives. The rooms are a little steep at 205 a night, but there is a great courtyard with a fire pit, grills to use, and ample seating. There is also a pool and hot tub. I will be back next time I am in town. read more

We were on our anniversary trip as a little weekend getaway and this hotel honestly had some of the sweetest and most helpful people working there that made us feel welcome no matter what time of day. I wanted to recognize one particular person Karina. She was such an angel and treated my boyfriend and I with such care on our anniversary day making it that much better also taking pictures for us in our dressed up outfits from every angle even when we only asked for one (something little but definitely was something out of the kindness of her heart). The hotel itself was clean and convenient being surrounded by restaurants as well as a Whole Foods/liquor store which are both walking distance and not to mention the beautiful Mountain View we had from our room. Do not stay here. Do not reserve a room either. For that matter, do NOT give these frauds no reason to charge your card, your checking or anything else. Do not give them your dog's name, or your family locations. Don't let them have any information on you whatsoever. IF you decide to ignore the warning, MAKE SURE you read the very tiny print. UNLIKE every other Marriott in the area - St R, Westin, etc. - these frauds fully charge your card and don't display that in BIG BOLD NOTICEABLE lettering... no, these frauds bury it in tiny print. UNLIKE every other Marriott (btw, I'm titanium for life with Marriott), the rooms are not displayed AS PRE-PAY price vs AT CHECK-IN pricing. You find out these frauds will bill your card immediately, when your bank tells you. Then you can go ahead and cancel the reservation (within 12 hours, like I did) only to be told that you'll have to wait 14 BUSINESS days or longer to get your money back. That's right. They will pull the funds immediately, then sit on it for another 3 weeks before returning your money. Hope you don't need that $6,000 CASH for anything because they'll keep it until they get good and ready to issue the refund for canceling (within 12 hours post reservation like I did). Step right up for that hot mess OR stay elsewhere. read more

We stayed here in April during the low season as we were passing through from Moab, UT. Carbondale and Basalt are cool towns in and of themselves, so definitely they're worth a visit. And the Element was one of our highlights for this trip. We ended up booking a second night because we liked it so much. The take-away: It's an amazing "boutique" hotel with a wonderful staff and lots of amenities. The apartment-style design of these rooms is super cool and makes you feel very at home. Our room had a kitchenette where we were able to make food (we got from the Whole Foods that is literally across the street!). The bed was very comfortable. The shower and bathroom were great. The hotel is very new, so this probably added to the cleanliness, but overall, it was extremely clean. The common areas were also very comfortable and make you feel at home. In all the hotels I've stayed at, I haven't utilized the lobby space much, but at Element, I did work from the lobby and enjoyed the beautiful view of the mountains while sipping a complimentary tea. The decor is beautiful and very inviting as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They weren't in-your-face, but always willing to help if we needed anything. It felt more like a retreat than a hotel stay. One thing that I didn't love: the sound of the traffic along the east side of the hotel. It's set on a highway and, in the morning, the cars can be loud. On the second night, I turned on the fan and didn't hear the traffic as much in the morning. The Element's outdoor hot tub under the bright stars was one of the best amenities, as well as their very good complimentary breakfast (with lots of healthy options). They also offer a complimentary happy hour with wine, beer, and light snacks. The night we went, however, they didn't offer any vegetarian snacks, so we only had wine. Still, it was very nice. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for a single or multiple night stay. It's very possible that you'll want to stay longer than you planned, especially if you're looking for a retreat-style get-away. read more

I really enjoyed the one night I spent at this hotel. Very modern, well-appointed rooms. I was lucky enough to score a one bedroom suite thanks to my buddy Adam D aka Eastern Bloc because he has baller status with Starwood or whatever. The kitchens in the rooms were nice and had all the basics. There is a nice grilling station out by the pool for guests to use. We grilled some delicious chicken because we wanted to be outside and it was a nice evening. The staff also provided grill utensils for us to use. The happy hour had several choices of complimentary beer and wine, as well as some horse dwarves. You know what I'm talking about. Everything was clean and pleasant for our stay. There is a whole foods right across the parking lot and a city market and other shops within easy walking distance. One gripe would be that the rooms do have some noise from the highway nearby creeping in. Nothing a white noise app can't remedy. read more

This is a very nice and modern looking hotel. When we got there on sept 4th (day before labor day) I was told we were being "upgraded" to a suite due to there being a lack of rooms. Awesome, right? The room was nice.. Had a handicapped shower, which was difficult to try to shower in. Shower had no water pressure at all. A few drops coming out. And no hot water. After trying to suck it up, realized this was not ok. So they switched us to another room, while I'm soaking wet and not happy. I get it, it happens. Next room is fine. However, coffee maker was broken and there was no shampoo/conditioner in the shower. In the morning at about 5am, I asked the front desk fellow a few questions. He was very short and rude. Did not offer to look into my questions further or anything. I left with unanswered questions. Very disappointed with this stay. It was pretty expensive for the lack of good customer service and the issues we had with the hotel rooms. Won't be back unfortunately and I probably would recommend stay at another location. read more

This is a nice close but not too close drive to Aspen and Snowmass. It took us about 25 minutes each way. Lots of police radaring along the drive. The hotel itself is very new and modern. The rooms are fully furnished (or at least our standard King) with a full sized fridge freezer, sink, microwave, and cooktop! Very unusual and a pleasant surprise. If only we brought more cookable food. Breakfast is on a two day rotation for the meals and they were all freshly prepared and delicious. Very nice staff. They could definitely splurge and bring on some larger plates though. The 6" coffee cup size plates couldn't house a piece of French toast without dripping syrup everywhere. I heard others complain about this also. Men's lobby restroom could use a tuneup as well as the bathroom paper throughout the hotel, thin as air. Shower heads also tended to slip and not stay in place which was frustrating. I would still come back and stay next year as they could improve in the small areas between now and then. read more

Enjoyed a getaway weekend with hubs and pups. It was pretty flawless. We loved the walkable area - not just the brewery or the Whole Foods but also the beautiful park with walking/biking path. There is a lovely playground and pretty views. It's very quiet and pleasant. The staff and service were great. Breakfast was very good - one day they made pancakes and the next French toasts. There was a L2 EV charger which was very convenient. And a pleasant and easy 30 min drive to Glennwood Springs. And the bed was truly one of the most comfortable beds we have slept on. Planning on getting the same mattress and down pillows. read more

After a long drive, this hotel is very nice. It's a modern design with ample room to walk around downstairs in the lobby. The rooms are designed to live in with maximum function. There is a table that rolls out of the way and folds up, with rolling box chairs, and the sofa is designed to open up with an extension for extra sleeping quarters. Even better, there are many stores in the area, and with Whole Foods across the parking lot; it was a real life saver, so yes, it's also in an excellent location. They serve a healthy breakfast, and there are many hiking trails nearby to explore, plus the bus route is very close to the hotel for trips to Aspen. My family woke up with colds the morning of our trip, and the second day wound up hacking and coughing from a virus. The staff were very helpful to provide enough tissues for our journey and show patience for letting my family sleep- it- off and not clean the room one day. There is also a nice gym, a small indoor pool, and a hot tub outside near the fire pit, with lots of room to enjoy the cool nights and the starry sky. There is also a very nice neighborhood behind the hotel for walking around and seeing the various vacation homes. The view from our window was spectacular. All in all it was a very relaxing weekend. There are a few people who guest at this hotel, who are a bit on the wild side. After a few comments to the staff, they brought them to our door to apologize. It was a bit of excitement that I didn't need. I would suggest that some rules be put in place to avoid the situation we experienced, such as no clothing or body art with profanity or offensive language or symbolism of hatred. Something of this nature should have been addressed before others were offended. The WIFI is very slow and it was difficult to make phone calls. I think this is due to a shortage of cell phone towers in the area, and the surrounding mountains, but they should have a more powerful WIFI system. Even if you are on vacation, one must keep in touch with family at home. read more

I'm a big fan. I've never stayed at element hotels previously. I travel about 60% for work, so I spend a decent amount in Hilton hotels. This hotel does a fantastic job. I love the eco-friendly design of its rooms, and the accessible location with ski shop, whole foods, restaurants right next door. The breakfast is wonderful, and the hotel is a beautiful place to stay whether you're touring around Aspen mountains, or just driving through Colorado. The room is wonderful for long stays, with full glassware in the kitchen, and a large fridge and kitchen sink. It feels more like a studio home, than a hotel room. I will be looking to stay in more element hotels going forward, and hope the experience is similar! read more

This hotel is not that far from aspen & snowmass ski resort. We opted for this hotel do to lower rates. Then being closer. There rooms wear very modern decor and we used the kitchen in are room quite a bit. There was a large closet for your ski cloths as well as a ski shop on the main floor that will hold your skis and ski boots so you dont have to take them to your room. We really enjoyed the out door hot tub. Me and my girlfriend had this romantic moment when it started to snow and we wear in the hot tub. The view was breath taking. They did have a complementary breakfast it wasn't bad and they offered different hot items depending on the day. Some of the breakfast items wear 3 different kinds of cereal, bagels, 2-3 different hot items and oatmeal. Are time at the hotel was good and there wasn't many issues during are stay . read more

I have only stayed here once, and I hope to stay at this hotel again. I showed up before check in because I was in town to do a training that afternoon. The front desk woman was very kind and accommodating. She did find me a room with a lovely view.....although what view is not lovely in Basalt. Every interaction I had with a hotel employee was nice and helpful. The room itself was gorgeous, king bed, comfy mattress, walk in shower, good sized TV, a desk area, a little kitchenette. It had everything I needed and it was clean. It is also a green hotel which is cool. The bath towels are terrible as is the water pressure but neither will deter me from staying here again. It is also nestled in a wonderful seemingly cool hotspot. It was especially helpful to be 100 yards from Whole Foods, a brewery, Starbucks, a bike shop, and a medical center should you need it. We just finished a weekend stay here, and it was quite lovely! The room was up to date and modern but cozy. We stayed in the basic king room which included a small kitchenette (no stove top, but we didn't need that). This hotel is in a really good location. Multiple restaurants across the street, as well as a Whole Foods and a wine and spirits store within walking distance! In the midst of the largest wildfire to hit the area and all sorts of hotels offering discounts to evacuees, this place, central to the whole scene offers a $191 per night rate which is more expensive than a room there normally. Nice rooms, king size bed, full kitchen, great views outside your window. It is in-between trains rides in Georgetown and Inpendence Pass. The Whole Foods store kept the refrigerator stock; which came in handy after long walks and bike rides. Bus rides for Maroon Bells five minutes away. The only problem was the connecting room next to us had children and they where a lil rowdy through out night. But the maid service cleaned our room, organized our things and kept fresh towels in room. They saw I covered the couch with clean sheet and they changed it when they came to clean. read more
