I emailed this KOA to inquire about the burn ban that was going on in the area. Per county rules,…read moreJetBoils ARE allowed but this campground told me I couldn't use them and suggested I get a cabin instead. So they're lying to try to make customers upgrade for an unnecessary cost. They should be embarrassed. If you don't want to allow JetBoils then say that but don't lie to make it sound like they're not allowed when the county says they're okay.

Sweet campsite at this KOA by the water. You can hear the River rushing down and creating this…read more"white noise" type of sound all times of the day. Super comforting during the night. It was super easy to check in and they were kind enough to let us check in early (11:45am) They do offer cabin rentals, RV sites and tent sites. Our Site: We got a tent site and it was pretty big. A bit bigger than the rest and it was perfect for our party of 4. You can only bring one tent and it has to be on the tent pad so extra tents or any tents placed other than the tent pad are not allowed. Which was a huge bummer. We were 2 couples with 2 tents and had to purchase a bigger tent to fit all of us in it to fit on the pad. All in all we made it work. Parking: You have to register all vehicles that are staying in the campsite and only one car is allowed per site, which is somewhat of an inconvenience. Any extra vehicles are $5 more. We were told to park the extra vehicle in the extra parking spaces that were far away from our site. Bathrooms and Showers: They only have Male and Female bathrooms and showers an no gender neutral bathrooms or showers, so it can be very uncomfortable for masculine presenting women to go to the bathroom. They did say they had just remodeled the entire place so they completely missed the opportunity to be more inclusive. However, the bathrooms were very clean, and the showers were really nice. We did bring our own bathroom tent to avoid any type of uncomfortable encounters when having to use the little girls room and were told we could not have it bc they were trying to grow grass and any bodily fluids would be harmful to the soil. So we had to put our toilet away :( Each site has a fire pit and the camp ground offers wifi and a little convenient store. They do come around every other hour or so on their golf-cars selling fire wood and making sure everyone is following the rules. I honestly loved this place and would come back. The town's nearby are gorgeous and the staff here is super nice.

The centerpiece of the park is this stunning trio of waterfalls--three streams of water pouring side by side over bright limestone cliffs, surrounded by the kind of lush greenery that feels almost tropical. It was like walking into a Colorado rainforest. Mist from the falls cooled the air, and everything around them felt alive--ferns, moss, chirping birds, and the occasional chipmunk darting across the path. The trails were surprisingly well maintained and easy to navigate. We started with the paved path that led right up to the base of the falls--perfect for just soaking in the view, and even wheelchair accessible. Then we took the Coyote Trail, which loops up around and behind the falls. That's where things got even more fun. The trail winds past a handful of small limestone caves, some of which you can crawl into and explore. One of them opened up into a surprisingly big cavern--we hadn't brought flashlights, but our phones did the trick, and the kids loved it. It felt like discovering secret chambers in a fantasy story. When we made it to the top of the falls, the view was totally worth the mild climb. You could look down and see all three cascades in full, framed by trees and cliffs. And with the mist rising in the sunlight, it felt absolutely magical--like something out of a painting. What I loved most was how much this park offered in such a compact space. Waterfalls, caves, trails, wildlife, creeks, picnic spots--everything felt close and accessible, but never crowded or rushed. It was peaceful, beautiful, and so well kept. Honestly, it's one of the best hidden gems I've stumbled upon in Colorado.

Note: I detracted one star because all the picnic tables for day visitors have been removed to discourage that activity. The only tables in the park are for the camp sites. We pulled into an empty site, since we did not see tables elsewhere, to have a quick lunch. We got a talking to from one of the park employees that it was not permitted. We were nearly done with lunch so we finished quickly and removed ourselves, making sure the area was as we found it. We then parked up at the trailhead parking. It is a pleasant walk to the base of the falls. Then we headed up the stairs that take you behind the falls as well as to some caves. My husband and his brother did the hike up and around to the top. My sister-in-law and I found a nice shaded bench to enjoy the views while we waited for them to return. It was an overall good experience. I would go back.

Ami's Acres - Glamping-adjacent with good vibes and surprise mirrors…read more This spot has everything you need to camp comfortably--and maybe a few things you don't expect, like giant bathroom mirrors big enough to check your aura. (Which is hilarious, because I left my makeup and vanity at home with my dignity. Just here to wash my face and vibe with the trees, thanks.) Ladies' bathroom: surprisingly solid. Two toilets, two shower stalls with hooks galore (finally, somewhere to hang the 57 things I bring into a shower). A bench for your stuff = chef's kiss. Double sink setup outside the stalls is a bonus. I didn't expect to have better lighting here than in my actual house. Campsite: long, shaded, and solar panel-friendly. No picnic table, which I did pout about for 30 seconds until I realized I never sit at them anyway. Full hook-ups for those of us who like our nature with a side of electricity. ‍ Staff was great--we got a friendly check-in call around 10am and were offered a personal site tour near Tractor Supply (iconic). Husband backed us in like a pro, no stress. Gold star to him. No individual fire pits at RV sites, which we get--it's dry enough to ignite a marshmallow by looking at it wrong. Communal pits by the office if you're feeling social or want to channel your inner cowboy. There are some long-term residents, which wasn't an issue, but might be nice to have visitors grouped separately--just for the ambiance. Birds and nature sounds = A+. Trains and road noise = present, but meh. By the time we hit the sack, we're toast anyway. Camping sleep hits different.

Nice large site at end of 61-65 "branch". Ground is "solid" (seems to be a Colorado thing); recommend a free-standing tent. Did manage to get a few stakes in to help with tent fly, but it might have been tough if i needed stakes to keep the tent up. Easy walk to nice bathhouse/hot showers (no coins or tokens needed!)/flush toilets. Well-maintained port-a-potty on the 61-65 "branch" in case someone wants a nearby option (eg, at night). Can hear the highway, but i didn't find this to be a big problem. Didn't even notice it while sleeping in the back of my SUV. One note: plan to get here in daylight! Traffic was awful out of Denver, and i arrived at 9:30pm. Decided to park near office and walk with flashlight to find my site. Not easy to drive to find it in the vehicle! Owners very nice! Called me at 7pm to tell me my site #; no problem checking in the next morning. I will definitely use this campground again!
