This was a pretty cool bar, and it sort of felt a bit out of place now that I know Coffs Harbour a bit better. I wouldn't necessarily call it a beach-side bar, though it is in the part of the city that is closer to the beach than the main town centre. Yeah, this place was pretty cool, and even had some nice beers on tap. Okay, it was a little dark, but it certainly had the feel of one of those inner-city bars that I tend to quite like. I was relieved to find an upbeat place to eat. Sick of pub fare during holidays up the coast, found this bar online and booked instantly. The fact they had good gluten free options was also a big plus. Peak season and they were busy.. but a big venue with lots of wait staff helped. Drinks were good. Nice cocktails, mocktails, for all except my espresso martini tasted watered down (unusual) but they have a huge beer, cider and wine list to choose from, so I moved to beers instead. Food was lots of variety from pizza to steaks etc. My beef short ribs were tender, juicy with generous amount of sauce but could have been caramelised a bit more and was very oily. Pizza were a crowd pleaser, even the gluten free. My wife had the gluten free chicken tacos, big mistake... they were delicious. But even after we checked twice, I suspect the chicken was not gluten free. Result.. up all night throwing up and drained for two days . Awful while on holidays. Terrible ending of a fun dinner out. Defiantly drop in for dinner with good vibes. Be very cautious if you are gluten intolerant. read more

Kind of a restaurant, kind of a bar, but a bit more a restaurant. Tables throughout with a coffee stand at the very front. Next to it an area where the live music sets up (acoustic guitar). Two couches at the front which were certainly which was a great spot to relax and people watch during the day. Tall tables and the bar at the back. Huge beer selection with 8 on tap. Three of the taps rotated and I decided to try those with my paddle. Paddles are the best. Food is pizza, sandwiches, burgers, etc. The pizza is thin crust, the fries are not too greasy and steak cut and the burgers are huge! I had the pulled pork. I thought the service was very friendly and certainly knowledgeable on their beers. read more

We came here for a late lunch while passing through Coffs Harbour today after being turned away from a lot of places with closed kitchens. The menu was really nice, especially for a bar. I ordered the smoked salmon salad and my husband got the wagyu beef burger. My salad was huge - tons of salmon, lots of veggies and croutons, and a nice bit of dill sauce on top. My husbands burger was spot on: loaded with onion rings, bacon and all the fixings. The fries were crisp and nicely salted, and came with a yummy garlic aioli. Service was solid as well. This place has great food real tasty but I couldn't see what I was eating. I couldn't see what I was ordering I had to go out side to read the menu. I understood that it was ment to be the mood but I asked around and other had to ask for a torch or use their phone. As soon as I asked a waiter to help she said "no" and then went around telling other waiters about us and than started to get really mad and when we went to leave, (we already paid the bill) we tried to take out wine with us as a woman grabbed it off me and said sorry but we don't have a take away license and than I than said " we paid for this and we sat inside and we had three waiters staring at us the whole time. Got here about 7pm,place was packed just managed to get a table.ordered the share plates and there was nothing to share very small serves and at the same time very pricey.our first share plate came out after about 30 mins then we sat there for another hour until I had to ask one of the staff where our next plate was.They apparently forgot about it but staff was very apologetic and seemed like a general mistake as the place was super busy.all in all I wouldn't be running back here by any means. read more

Arrived just after 6pm and the place was completely packed throughout. Figured it was a decent place with being so busy. Was told 20mins wait for a table so we decided just to order take away as we were only in town for the one night and wanted to make the most of it. After we ordered we asked how long the wait would be and was told 30mins. This was fine as we figured it must be really good food so we were more than happy to just go for a walk in which they were nice enough to take our number and give us a call when the food was ready. Service was good. Unfortunately when we got back in our car and were on our way, we opened the garlic bread box to find something so tiny and practically bare, this was fine as we figured it's garlic and cheese bread and weren't too fussed. We arrived back at our hotel and opened the pizza box to find this was just as tiny as the garlic bread and had just as little on it. Considering we were charged $10.50 for the garlic bread, $27 for the normal pizza (had to get gluten free as I get extremely ill if I don't have it..hubby sucked it up to save us money as we are on a budget for our wedding that's in a few months so we figured we could just share as it would be plenty; as we found we were wrong..) plus had to wait the half hr and it was a 15min drive there & back to the resort.. the size and the price was just unbelievable and such a rip off. The bread was not cooked enough and all we could taste was the bread and nothing else.. not to mention I still ended up sick from it as there was way too much oil that had soaked up and risen to the top. My fiancé is not a fussy person at all and for him to complain about it and be annoyed is saying something.. all in all we were pretty disappointed with our dinner and will not be returning to the Element. read more
