I made an appointment for a pedicure and it was wonderful! Everyone was so nice, kind of hard to understand but it was very relaxing. I've read some of the reviews that aren't so great and I think they have taken the comments to heart, I had none of the issues others have mentioned. I don't really have a cost comparison as this isn't something I do on a regular basis but they are close to where I live so I have been there twice, I enjoyed both visits! I have lived in denver, NY, Boston and Nantucket for the past several years and just moved to RC. This is the most expensive pedicure with the worst results. I was given the $40 pedicure (lowest priced) and told if I want to have dead skin taken off that I would need to pay $10 more. This experience was not worth $40 nor would it be worth $50. Other nail salons I have been to in major cities make sure that your nails are perfect before you leave, they add the extra foot file to keep you coming back. This pedicure was one of the worst I have received. I have a manicure with owner on Monday which I will cancel, much too over priced for the quality. You should not be left with dead flaky skin on your feet after paying $48. Do not go to this nail studio, it's a rip off. read more

Stations are quite dirty. Staff is surly and does not like customers to talk or make conversation. I came in for acrylics for the first time in my life and didn't really know what to expect. I was surprised at how dirty the place was. Foolishly, I returned in a couple of weeks for a fill. The fill cost just as much as the initial set. There are lumps in my nails as well. I will not be able to afford to pay $50 for a fill every 2-3 weeks in a dirty nail salon where the staff acts like they don't want me there. The pros are that they did get me in and done quick as a walk in, so I guess if you are in a pinch, it might be ok. read more

Do not waste your time or money going here :( I'm not sure how they have so many good reviews. I saw the good reviews and that's why I chose this place. I called ahead to make sure they had time. I get called back and she had me sit for ten minutes with my hands soaking in a bowl and went to work on someone else who walked in. I was about to leave when she came over. I asked for a manicure and she said that would bring my total to $65. Jeez. I came from California where I could get dip powder and manicure for $45 and the service was better. The dip looks bubbly and messy and uneven ): I am so disappointed with everything. I'm disappointed with the service, the price and then the final product of my nails ): I would not recommend going here. The pictures don't do my nails justice. The whites are sloppy. This is by far the worst dip powder I've ever had. The place was also really dirty. There is nail dust on EVERYTHING and the walls/baseboards are horrid. It doesn't look they spend any time cleaning. I USED TO be a customer (16 years). But the aggressive upselling and loud arguing to get you to buy a higher-priced service is too much. I told the technician 4 times just to do a basic pedicure, no designs, gel polish, deluxe services. I even pointed to that item on the pricing list that was shoved at me. At the counter, they charged me $15 more than usual and the cashier was very argumentative. She even called the technician (who had stepped out of the salon), then pointed to her cell phone and demanded that I talk to him, and he argued loudly that I asked for gel because I had gotten that service before (once in 16 years). They even got customers involved in the "discussion." Before the argument ended, the cashier had run my credit card for the higher price, so they got their precious $15 (minus the tip they would have had if services had been professional), but lost a long-time faithful customer. read more

First thing I noticed when I walked in was the overwhelming smell of chemicals and the nail dust on every surface! This is the dirtiest nail salon I've ever seen. Then i had a gel manicure done and the guy was a bit abrasive but tolerable. I noticed 4 of the nails had a little bubble underneath and knew it wouldn't last long. Sure enough, the very next day I had 2 chipped nails. I had to go back and they had to fix 4 of my nails. That only lasted a few more days before chipping again. I won't be going back. They should be shut down for their lack of cleanliness anyway. read more

I dropped in this place blindly yesterday - I wanted to get a set of nails done for the New Year holiday.... I just moved back after being gone for 8 years - so I wasn't familiar with this salon or the quality of the work. I was pleasantly surprised....there was only one other customer at the time...so there was no waiting for me. It was close to 5pm when I got there. Shortly, the waiting chairs filled up with people getting off work and needing nails fixed or a fill. With all the chaos going on, the staff people (3 of them) managed to greet each one...understand what they needed and either guided them to a chair at a nail desk or asked them if they can wait. The place was very clean and professional, nicely decorated. My favorite little detail: when I was asked to go and wash my hands before she put the last glossy coat on....the towels you used to dry your hands were in a warmer....how cool is that. They were very quick and efficient too...I was in there less than an hour. The only downside I experienced is that they don't take credit cards...and I had out of state checks....so I had to go to the cash machine in the parking lot. I just wasn't prepared for that...it wasn't that big of a deal. I didn't ask or look...i just assumed that they did. I had a full set of nails done, and I couldn't be more happy. They are the perfect length and shape...and very good quality work. The girl who sat down beside me just as I was getting finished up looked at my nails and asked if they were mine (real) - i said 'i wish' I went shopping after i had gotten them done...and when i checked out, each time it was a female...they all commented on or asked me about my nails. Lam is the one who did my nails, but it seems that Tina and her husband (the other two in there at the time doing nails) own the business. I went home and had a walmart salon do them, and upon my return back to school went back to elegant nails. My nails were all different lengths and thicknesses. This business is awful! I went there to get my nails done with some of my other friends and all of us were not overly happy with what we got for the amount we paid. I'm asked for very basic nail art, and was told she couldn't so that. I agreed and said do what's best, but the design turned out to be something a five year old can do. I then went back and asked for it to be redone and there was absolutly no difference. I then went and asked if my design could be done at Paris nails where I usually go and they did it with no problem! I then went back to elegant and they explained it three different times and asked for a partial refund and they said no. That I was 'happy with it and they couldn't do anything. I have been going to Elegant Nails for 15 years. I love them!!! They are pleasant, friendly and clean. I have never had a problem with my nails. Kathy, Tommy and Anna remind me of what it was like when I first came here with Gene and Tina. Lighthearted conversation, jokes and fun. I think the price is fair for the area and for the quality. Absolutely terrible! From the moment I stepped foot in the salon, I was barked at and rushed. The girl who did my nails didn't answer half of my questions and was so rough with me that one of my nails almost came off while she was filing them. She completely butchered the nail shapes and each nail is a different variation of squoval, oval, and blob. To make matters worse, every single time she filed them down again they turned into a different shape. When my nails were finished they were throbbing and dried glue covered a portion of my cuticle. Nails point sky high instead of lay flat, 5/10 nails are crooked and each nail has a bump in the middle. The icing on the cake was when the second I got up (my wallet, keys, and phone still at the counter), she was already starting with the next client and told me to approach the counter if I needed anything else. All in all, I will never step foot inside of this so called establishment again and would give a negative review if possible read more

Got my nails done in Denver, elegant nails was able to do a repair quickly and match the color as best as they could. I was pleased with pricing this round as an acrylic nail with gel polish repair was only 5.35$. Nails look great again and service was done promptly. Hopefully they are able to find a fair price because they are really a great nail salon, and the only thing that turns customers elsewhere is overpricing. read more

Convenient. I dropped in from out of town while here on business. Very clean, friendly, open environment. Smell is minimal and not overwhelming (definitely a plus). Horrible and disappointing experience! Extremely over priced! I can't believe I was charged for the gel part of the manicure and the actual manicure separately! The quality of the nail work was poor as well. I left with several nails having gel polish on my cuticles and skin. One nail was so badly painted over the side of my finger that it begun to lift before the manicure was even complete. My nails honestly look like a child did them. Not even the color was correct. I pointed out that that color on the sample and what was on my finger were not the same. What I received was bumble gum pink nails instead of the lavender color I had chosen. The bottles were clearly miss labeled, but I was told it would end up looking more purple when the manicure was compete, it did not. I ended up with bumble gum pink nails. I was given a measly $4 dollars off my outrageously priced total for this inconvenience. Onto my pedicure, it was mediocre at best. I paid for the deluxe pedicure which is $45. It was less than 30 minutes long. Again, extremely disappointing. If I am shelling out that kind of money, the pedicure should be an hour long. Wow! Not sure why there are so many great reviews? My mani pedi was so below average. No cuticle work, very little care to my finger and toe nails. It seemed like the manicurist was too timid to cut! File! Trim! This was more like a polish change but I asked for and paid for a mani pedi. I won't go back. I can change my own polish, I needed a full service mani pedi. I had called ahead to see if they would be able to accommodate three people at noon on a Saturday, knowing they don't take appointments. They said no problem. We arrived at noon and the place was extremely busy with only three people working. The person who 'greeted' us told me we would have to wait a little bit. When I asked how long a little bit was, he said about an hour. The store smelled very strongly of nail chemicals and there were not enough places to sit to wait. I've been going to Elegant Nails since I got stationed here. Although the I wasn't used to the higher prices compared to my last station it's definitely worth the price. I had been to several Nail locations in Rapid City. Although they were cheaper, they did NOT live up to my expectations. All of the places were sloppy, weren't very friendly, and I always came out HATING what my nails looked like. Sometimes so much that I was embarrassed and ripped them off the next day. The first day I walked in to Elegant Nails they treated me like a long lost friend. They know their regular customers by name and always want you to walk out loving your nails. I've been deployed three times since I've been seeing them. I'm gone for over 6 months each time and they still remember how I like my nails. We made it a point to stop in here after reading the reviews and I will agree with Ell, it was a nice surprise! We rolled into town late and were worried we would be turned away but they gladly asked if we would mind waiting........so happy. I received a pedicure and my daughter got her nails redone. This was the BEST pedicure I have had in a long time! She had others waiting after me but never made me feel rushed or not getting her full attention. They wrap your feet and legs in hot towels after putting some heavy moisturizer on....my feet feel and look absolutely wonderful. We will be back.
