So, after moving to Burnaby and with the onset of Summer earlier this year, one of my topmost priorities was to be on the lookout for a good salon to get a decent haircut. That is when I saw glowing reviews of this place from Eric, Yelp Vancouver Community Manager, and his endorsement ensured that I decided to check out Tommy Gun's in Metrotown. And I'm so glad that I did because this place is great and truly underrated! Seeing that they are open till 8 PM, which is super convenient for those wanting to work on their hirsute issues after working till late in the evening, I called them one fine day at 6:30 PM (living life on the edge FTW!) to check if they can squeeze in an appointment before end of day. The kind person at the desk who answered my call requested me to walk in and whoever is available then will attend to me. Nice! After easily finding a parking spot in the Station Square Metrotown shopping mall complex, I walked up to the salon and was seated comfortably in their neat and spacious reception area. Trust me when I say that the vibe of the place is very cool with the staff exchanging friendly banter amongst themselves and with customers. Soon enough I was escorted for my haircut by the awesome Abdul, my go to barber henceforth! He's such a jovial personality and a fantastic artist, and his attention to detail when sculpting my hair as we chatted along was amazing. It felt like I spent an evening with a friend, and, as a bonus, took his leave looking and feeling much better. I'm not kidding when I say that Abdul gave me one of the best haircuts in my four decades of existence (to be honest, a close second to the haircuts that my missus gave me during the pandemic, before she accidentally cut my ear in the process and I decided to let me hair loose! *ouch*). The hair wash and head massage that followed were very relaxing. The icing on this very yummy cake of an experience was getting to choose of complimentary soft drink when making the payment. I complained, but she said, "We don't do that here." And I had to go home and shave my own neck, and also get the spots that she missed on my face. I felt scammed because I paid $60 for it and she took a whole hour so I would expect that for all that time and money I would get a nice smooth face and neck. But I was wrong. When I complained to the owner he just told me that I am banned from the shop now and said they don't give refunds even though on their official website they have a "Service Guarantee" that if you are not completely satisfied with the service they will make it right.

Without disappointment, he received the hair out he requested and looking forward to returning. I am very faithful to the people that give me and others, great service. I've been going to the same nail technician for over 9 years (she just retired recently) and gotten my hair done by the same lady for almost 20 years.
