Both times I've made use of the super cheap standby appointment slots they offer (mainly because I'm super disorganised) which has been a real bargain at £20 for a cut and blow dry and still offers a fantastic service. The staff are all very young and cool but pretty friendly and you get offered a drink on arrival - I had a tea but the lovely girl who washed my hair said to shout if I wanted a glass of wine later too! The girl who cut my hair was great at offering advice at what would suit me best and the products to use but didn't give me the hard sell at the end which I hate. Will definitely return!

You get a coffee while you're in the chair and magazines to read if you're waiting for a colour. The prices are reasonable, and you're never kept waiting for too long. They sell a range of salon products including GHD straighteners. Good salon.

I entered 5 minutes late for my appointment, she didn't ask for my name and I doubt the person I made the appointment with was the person who served me, this is more of a walk-in than appointments. This barber shop could definitley do with some modernising as it looks like a wrecked ship going into it, which gives you the impressive your haircut will be the same but with not many barber shops being able to fit me in, I had to come here and yes, my haircut was awful, I told her I didn't like my hair short but my haircut was really really short, I actually look like an ape, an egg, an alien, I certainly don't look human with the cut she gave me! She constantly grabbed the thickest pieces of hair and cut them, it was like she was trying to punish me, like she knew me and I didn't know her and she wanted revenge. When I saw my haircut and how she was catching me with her equipment and cutting the thickest parts of hair I was nearly in tears. The price was the only good thing about it being £6, but I'd rather pay double for a good cut , where the hairdresser isn't as aggressive as a stroppy teenager when their parents ground them, but honestly if the haircut is bad and not really what I asked for and she did catch and hurt me on multiple occasions, I think it is a bad price really. They is a small bit of parking outside on the street but with this being located in a row of shops : Newsagents, post office, chippy, and this barbers then I wouldn't get your hopes up on getting a space here, you might have to park in the Tesco which is only a minute walk away from this place. This is a very noisy place as well, the hairdresser didn't really chat to me however they did have some of the new modern day music malarkay which regular readers of my review know I despise and even worse, they had hairdryers as well on for long periods of time and honestly it was really loud, louder than a normal hair dryer, like it was faulty, I actually left with a mild headache. I really really wanted him to be good but unfortunately he wasn't, I'm not sure if it was just inexperience and he'll improve with time. He didn't listen to what I asked him to do. I have incredibly fine hair and am desperate for anything that will give it more volume. He asked me to remove my necklace (a thin chain) while he cut my hair, I'd never been asked to do that before but I soon found out why as he really dug the scissors in uncomfortably close to the back of neck. He took an incredibly long time to cut it, wandering off to consult with another junior worker who was dyeing someone's hair under his supervision. When I saw what he'd done, which was basically sculpt my hair flat to my head like a skull cap, I told him I'd asked him for volume. He shrugged and told me it was too difficult with my hair not in a dismissive way but more like there was nothing more he could do all while stood next to a poster proclaiming the numerous volume inducing products available. I'm not saying I want hairdressers to do the hard sell with me with products but was hoping there was something that could be done. I'm not proud of this but I cried when I got up to leave. Disappointment and the sheer frustration of someone just not listening to you got to me. Fortunately the manager who took my payment, saw I was upset and took me upstairs to explain the things that could be done to improve the cut in terms of styling. I don't think this was too much to ask of him. I haven't been back there since and I'm not sure I will. As much as I would like to say it's just hair, it's important and you're trusting someone to take scissors to part of you so you need to trust them. Once when I 'modelled' for a branch of Vidal Sassoon they somehow managed to make me look middle aged. Moi, who regularly gets ID'd for paracetemol. But at Razor's Edge, those few extra pennies really do seem to go a long way. The staff treat you like minor royalty; you know where you are and who is looking after you at all times and they treat you like an individual. I have been a few times and one that sticks out is when I went for a blow dry before a birthday party. My birthday party. We all know how important it is to look good when you are the one throwing the bash. So, my hair stylist was funny and chatty. Quite a lot of naughty talk actually about his wife, when I thought that he was gay - mystery. He recommended dying my hair a shade darker and showed me where it needed to be cut next time and why. My hair stayed perfect for most of the night which is more than I can say for other occasions and other hairdressers... Razor's Edge is without a doubt where I'm going for my next hair appointment. Unfortunately, my stylist was running 30-45 minutes late. If they can text to remind you about your appointment, can't they do the same for any delays? Although I enjoyed the time to wander around town, I was there for my hair! The overall experience was much the same as last time. Lots of chatting between stylists, plenty of regulars, and then those of us who are between exploring new places and actually just mourning the loss of our last favourite. I was happy with the overall cut, though I did have to trim a certain section myself - not easy- due to the difference in the way I style my hair and the way she parted it on the day. The price continues to be a real stickler for me and I'll continue my search for the perfect balance between amazing hair and cheap cheap prices.
