We were later told the accountant was not their regular staff, but that does not remove the business's responsibility for work done under their name. Despite the clear mistake and inconvenience caused, there was no refund and no compensation offered. I am sharing this as a warning to others to be very cautious when using this service. I call for an appointment. The lady says I can just walk in. I wanted to make an appointment because I live 90 miles away and this business was highly recommended. They told me to just do a walk in. So on the day I finally have time to drive all the way to the bay area this happens: Business says it opens at 10:30am. The door is locked and no one answers the phone. Finally someone arrives at 11:20am only to turn me away. Saying the accountant does not LIKE to review another accountant's work and tells me that he isn't in today. So I wasted waking up 5am to drive through 3 hour traffic just to be turned away. They tell me to come back tomorrow. Yeah. We spent nearly the entire day at the office (from early morning until late afternoon), only to have our tax return initially rejected due to an incorrect SSN entry made by the preparer. This indicates a lack of proper intake procedure and basic verification before filing. We were later informed that the preparer handling our case was not regular staff, which raises concern about supervision and quality control. Regardless, the office is responsible for ensuring all filings are accurately reviewed before submission. As first time clients, we relied on this office for guidance and accurancy, yet we experienced poor organization, repeated delays and avoidable mistakes. Even after re- filling, the process caused unnecessary stress and wasted a significant amount of our time. While the issues was eventually corrected, we were told there would be no refund no compensation, despite the significant time wasted and the clear service error. Overall service was unprofessional, involved poor communication, avoidable mistake and inefficient. I would not recommend this office to others without significant improvement in their intake and review process. Don't be misled by the hype or long lines-service quality did not match expectations. read more

Orlando is great, he's awesome and easy to work with! He knows what he's doing. His secretary/assistant should listen to her Doctor and stay home when she's not feeling well. It shows and she doesn't even realize that she's being mean and rude to their customers. May not be her intention, the weather might be getting to her too, we all have bad days! Saying "they were there during the incident" which is funny because there's just an older couple and a gentleman waiting when I came in! Which made me believe that it's either "the girl I was talking about" or the other girl, who seems to be a new hire. RUDE. I am beside myself even writing this review. My husband had been coming here for years and when he told me to come here; he said "brace yourself it's a hole in the wall". I went ahead and decided we should do our taxes here since how bad can it be? It's horrible. We were quoted 2 hours which was actually 4.5 hours. The receptionist was the rudest I've ever met and very unprofessional and a bit ghetto. Long story short the CPA quoted $$ but once we were filing and he saw how much we made he doubled our charges which we thought was strange. We ended up getting FIVE THOUSAND less than what we were anticipating from CPA. My husband called to ask why and the receptionist said it wasn't their problem and hung up on my husband. We will not be filing with them again & until warning others to do the same. read more

My Family worked with marcela for many years and she was great!! UNITLL we started receiving audits and fees from the states/agencies....asking us to pay fees for owning our own business and from IRS. The IRS was specifically my brother. Marcela entered the wrong information for his dependent and IRS came at him hard for fraud. Marcela's response was go to IRS and fix it!! Excuse me you are our tax accountant and you filed the taxes!!! You need to fix it. Long story short the IRS kept the refund after it was paid back. What a hassle!! The lack of communication on her end/business was what turned me away and I decided to fire her and let her know that she was no longer authorized to my personal information. I think Orlando at ElectroTax San Mateo does a fine job and excellent work. I came in with 2 years to do (2020 and 2019) since I never got 2019 done due to the pandemic. I walked in and only had to wait for about 15 minutes. Orlando has done my taxes for several years (even though I used to be a CPA and worked at H&R Block for a year) because it is just easier to let him do the work and pay him $150 a year than to do it myself. This year Orlando knew about a couple of items on my return (pandemic related) that I did not even know about, and that i know I would have missed had I done the returns myself, which increased my refunds almost as much as he charged me, so I was super happy with his work, and impressed with his knowledge. Orlando was able to complete 2 years in a little over a half hour and I was very happy with my refund and feel it was $310 (for both years) well spent. A friend of mine recommended me this place and i went in this past saturday and was pleasantly surprised how stress free i felt. I guess its a family business and this one( they have other locations but its new in belmont) is ran by the son, he is in his late 20s and customer service was great. Con: i couldnt file my tax cause as he explained the IRS wont let you submit it unitl the 31st so i have to go back Pro: it costs $120 which is half of what i pay at other tax businesses. Parking is easy cause its by the safeway shopping court Alll in all its worth a shot read more
