This accountant never explained how she wants the paperwork in the first place, so I spent hours guessing until the point when she decided it was best for me to use someone else who understands 'my methods'. Unless you want to give this accountant everything all buttoned up and practically complete for her to send, you may want to consider other options. Don't expect guidance or help, or for her to do any work digitally with Excel. It's all pen and paper then scanned.

This year we didn't receive one, called to ask for one and we we're billed not only for the phone call but for the time to print the document! Mr. Gluck charges by the hour, even if his office calls you to ask a question, you're billed, evidently at the rate of $300 to $400 per hour. We received an email from someone we had never met at his office with the amount of tax liablity for the prior year. We were a bit surprised by the large amount and wondered if we'd made a error or omission. We called to talk to Mr. Gluck who told us he hadn't looked at our returns yet!!! Mr. Gluck said he wouldn't be able to look it over before the tax deadline so his office would prepare payment vouchers to mail in by the due date, but the call ended with Mr. Gluck quickly saying "You go online and do it. File your extensions and pay and I'll get to you after my vacation." The call cost me another $100. I've found another tax preparer that works with us in how best to set up our business and other financial planning - Better professional service and CLEAR advice at a quarter of the price.

I spoke to her initially long enough to explain the services I needed and we agreed to do an initial phone consult for 30 minutes on a specific day at 9:00am. I called her at the agreed upon time (~9:01am) and she didn't pick up the phone so I left her a vmail. I had previously explained to her that I had a hard stop at 9:30am. She did call me back around 9:25am but by then I was transitioning to my next meeting for the day. She left a vmail apologizing for not being in the office to take my call. I understand that things can happen to make someone be late or miss an appointment from time to time, so I was willing to give it a second try. I called a couple of days later and spoke to her again and rescheduled for another specific day at 9:00am. On that day, I called her at 9:00am and she didn't pick up again. I thought surely this time she would call me back within minutes given that she missed our first appointment to speak. The fact is, it's now been a week and I still have not received a return call. Deborah has certainly not lived up to the positive reviews here on Yelp or on Berkeley Parent's Network. I don't know what's going on with her but at this point I have zero confidence that she can execute and push things along to conclusion. With me, she never even got out of the starting gate.
