I think it's really a 2.5 Stars but I'm rounding up to 3 Stars…read more Cost: I needed to get a dedicated electrical circuit installed for an over the stove microwave. BK Electric came out within a few days to take a look and give an estimate. I had received a lot of estimates for this project and BK Electric was in the lower middle range of the prices I got. Scheduling: This was honestly a nightmare. After I signed the contract and put down a deposit they scheduled me on a day for the following week. This outlet installation was required to be completed prior to a Costco purchased microwave delivery and installation appointment. They cancelled on me and needed to reschedule 3 separate times. Each time I was only notified the day of the scheduled appointment. This caused the follow on Costco microwave installation appointment to need to be rescheduled each time. To be fair to the person in the office, Eli, it wasn't his fault and he was properly scheduling and doing his best to get the electricians out to do the job. It was the electrians who either were calling out that day or last minute going to "higher priority" job sites. However, for the BK Electric as a whole, this is pretty terrible customer service. Work: The quality of the work seemed good. Where and how the ran the line and the junction box with the outlet installation all seemed cleanly done. However, there was an issue where they did not install a GFCI outlet in the new location that required it. This delayed the microwave installation since the Costco installers refused to install without a GFCI outlet. I had to call BK Electric and have them come back and fix it.

The electrician (I believe his name was Amir) arrived right on time and completed the work in about an hour. He was professional, efficient, and clearly knew what he was doing. He also made sure everything was cleaned up before leaving. Overall, the process was smooth from start to finish, and I'm very happy with the result. Thank you, Brentwood Electrical Experts!

I hired Madison Electric in September 2022 to install an EV charger. Communication and the work…read morequality was great, I have no complaints. The cost quoted included labor and parts. I also have a new build construction home with the wires pre wired so the actual work was not difficult at all. However (which I didn't know at the time), the Nema 14-50 plug that they bought at Home Depot and installed is not commercial grade (ie. Rated for EV charger use). It was a $15 plug and I only realized that when I want to use the EVSE charger at the maximum intended 40 amps, the socket would get extremely hot to the touch. I was worried about it melting (as you can google similiar stories) so I have been charging the car at only 20 amps max because I didn't want to spend more money on fixing the issue. 20 amps is fine and I can get a full charge overnight, it just takes longer since it's a slow charge. I'm finally posting this because I'm using the charger very frequently now (since I had free public charging for my EV which ended so now I have to charge at home) and I do wish my nema 14-50 plug was a heavy duty one so I can use the max amps of my juicebox. I didn't know then since I was a new EV owner so I want to make sure that other EV owners are aware and advocate for themselves/double check the work to make sure your house is safe!

When we bought our house in 2019 Roy's crew did a new panel upgrade to 200A and ran new 240V lines…read morefor HVAC and jacuzzi and connected to new solar. In the contract was also a 240 line for an EV charger under the house so that it would be ready for hookup once we bought an EV and he verbally assured me it was there, ready to go, and he could hook it up once we bought the charger. When we bought an EV in early 2024 we discovered that there was no 240 line in place. But after several weeks of cajoling (my calls and texts were incessant), he did make good with sending a crew out to run the line that was already paid for 4.5 years earlier, and to his credit he did ONLY charge for the cost of connecting the charger (which was understandable). But rather than a single run line of #6 with 60A circuit as is recommended for this charger, his crew ran a cheaper setup of 40A breaker with #8 wire but no dedicated conduit, connected through 2 junction boxes near each end. Also, they connected the charger to the 40A circuit but did not set the charger to a maximum 32A charge as it clearly says in the charger's manual. So within a couple of months charging at 48A max charge, the wires burned up, which seems like a major fire hazard that could have burned down our house. A different electrician saw that they had not set the maximum charge on the charger correctly and said they should have at least warned me to do so. His crew came back to have it fixed but they only replaced the wires going from the charger to the nearby junction box and didn't say anything (again) about max charge but I looked it up and set the max to 32A myself and had a different electrician check it was done correctly. Even still, a few months later, the problem repeated, with the wires burning up in the junction box (see photos) and now he is saying he is only willing to repair the connection inside the junction boxes again but will not redo it more safely as a single run. I can't trust that it won't burn up again with the current setup using the junction boxes (which seems like a fire hazard!), so I now feel I need to pay someone else to redo/correct his crew's work. He was barely responsive when I first contacted him in 2024 to ask where the line was that he promised, but when he did finally come through... he did it on the cheap. He was barely responsive when I pointed out the problems and fire hazard a few months later but did finally come through. And again more recently he did not respond for a while but was finally responsive. But he only offered to repair something in the same way... that has already broken 2 times. I will give him credit for not totally ghosting me and he did make some effort to make good on the contracted work. But ultimately Roy did not come through with solidly-performed job but rather has decided to cut his losses and just do the bare minimum. Disappointing.

They started the job and then at the end of the day left the job saying they needed parts. However, the sewage system was now completely non-functional for the next 3 days while we waited for parts. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to make sure you can put the electrical system back together before taking it apart? Guess not. So 3 days of no sewage use, and the electrician comes back with a used part (only to find out later that it was the same faulty part he took out from my system). Puts it in and says he finishes the job. The same problems came back (surprise) and within 3 days the sewage overflowed due to faulty electricals. I called other companies had initially provided an estimate(but then mistakenly went with American Electrical Service) and they showed me with pictures that the system looks the same as before. Nothing had been done. So what did I pay AES for? I spoke with the AES electrician and he offered me to go with another company and he would refund my money. So I hired another company who got the job done. After agreeing to return my money, the electrician in charge ghosted me and never responded. It has been over SIX MONTHS and nothing yet. This is not the first time I have dealt with unscrupulous contractors but I am surprised a 4+ star company on Yelp is this untrustworthy. I am taking the appropriate actions on this matter including contact with the licensing board, but want to warn others that this company is unethical, irresponsible, and in my opinion, crooks. I don't want to mention the electrician by name, but I personally would not work with Mike from American Electric Service. BE WARNED.
