Excellent place for an area that's full of garages but not a lot specialize in EV's and hybrids exclusively. I made the mistake of taking my Fiat 500e to another mechanic and got the impression they didn't know what to do for it except run a rough diagnostic. Electric Ave went above and beyond with speedy service and a thorough preventative maintenance. Will definitely be coming back, but I do have a few recommendations: 1) Consider allowing clients to book appointments online (including making requests via Yelp). Takes some of the pressure off of planning and scheduling service. 2) Your business phone mailbox has not been set up, so I could not leave a message when arriving. 3) (and most important)...you should totally consider selling EV mod packages, including battery upgrades/extended range. Recently purchased a used Rav4 EV from 2012. Car was in great condition but also wanted it to be given a once over and get a sense of what the cadence for general service would be on an EV etc. Called and talked to Nathan who was super helpful. Really want to call Nathan out for incredible information, service etc. And I say this as someone who initially called a number of Toyotas and was quoted between $210 and $250. Never really trusted that any of them realized I was talking about the full EV that was made in small numbers between 2012-2014 because all of them kept bringing up oil changes! My BMW i3 was not connecting to the public charging stations that I normally use. I was told by my dealership that there was pin damage on the charging socket and that the mechanism would need to be replaced. This would cost a little over $4000, an expense that I could not afford at the time. I was referred to Jason at Electric Avenue in Thousand Oaks by a local mechanic. I emailed him a copy of the video that showed the issue that the dealership had provided me. Nathan saw the bend in the pin and mentioned that this would be tricky to repair but that he would be happy to take a look. I drove to his shop the very next day. Nathan told me to give him an hour to see if there was anything he could do. He texted me within 45 minuted to let me know that he was able to straighten the pin and that the car was charging. Nathan did not charge me for the fix. He said that most likely the socket would need to replaced at some point, but that it should be fine for a while. I asked for an estimate for the eventual repair. It was a fraction of what my dealership had quoted me!! I am happy to say that his repair has lasted to this day, three month after Nathan's fix. Needless to say, Nathan was amazing, so knowledgeable, professional and kind. Nathan and the team were extremely nice both times I've been here. However, either their mechanic is shady or inexperienced. I brought my car in to have repairs done as this was one of the only local shops who would work on hybrid vehicles and who could look at my car that week. They find the issue which was exhaust related and fix it, all is good. A couple days later the check engine light comes back on and I bring it back in. Apparently the part they fixed wasn't the problem and it was another part that needed to be repaired. Before going back I started asking everyone I knew about this because I felt like I was getting ripped off. Come to find out, California requires all dealerships to include extended warranty's on exhaust related problems, some up to 120k miles (my car has 70k miles). I bring my car into the local dealer and they say the part that needs repairing is covered for free. However, since Electric Ave replaced the other part, that voids the warranty... I have a strong feeling Electric Ave knew what they were doing by replacing the wrong part and not telling me about California's warranty coverage.
