What a goldmine, we thought, as we selected 18 possible vanity and ceiling lights that were listed on their website as "Item available in factory stock." Good prices for the items on our list. And purchasing from them would keep us out of a big box store. Finally, the tag line on every item "In store prices too low to advertise. Visit us today!" was further incentive. Wow. We drove down the next day to take a look. Upon arrival, however, we learned that "item available in factory stock" was misleading. As we were shown the small selection of vanity lights displayed in the store, the sales clerk informed us that any items not on display (or about to "go up on the wall"), including those listed as "item available in factory stock," involved ordering the item from the warehouse, which would take 4-7 days to arrive and our paying shipping costs. Lights look different in person. A two-dimensional photo cannot do it justice. A visual inspection helps determine size and color and fit much better. A bit disappointed, we looked over the two dozen vanity lights on display, and this is where our disappointment turned to shock and irritation. Online, there were numerous vanity lights that fit our budget of $150 or less. On the showroom floor, however, 90% of the lights were priced above $200. And these lights resembled lights we had seen in Lowe's or Menard's for less than half of this cost. I guess that Lyons sees no reason to stock lower-priced items for people on modest budgets. It's a shame, too, because we came to BUY. The ceiling lights were a fraction of the selections available through the website, another disappointment. The sales clerk did her best to help us; however, there was no way we could justify spending $300-$400 for a lighting system we could purchase for a third of this cost. The "showroom" is one large room about 25' x 35' with a large selection of lights. Sales tags and the bottoms of lamps hang down, creating head knockers for one of our party who is 5'10". It felt claustrophobic and slightly dangerous to this taller person. We left a bit shell-shocked. Lyons could do customers a BIG favor by making a CLEAR distinction as to what "item available in factory stock" actually means. Knowing that an item is on-hand AT the store AND its cost could help customers better plan.

In the ordering process we could request to have a local company contact you about doing the installation. Being one that no longer likes climbing ladders and want the work done right from the start, I selected the option. I was quickly contacted by a representative from Mr. Electric the next morning, scheduled an appointment for a quote on the installation. The next morning one of their technicians came out to quote the work. While the technician was there I asked about repairing some work that I had done myself and wasn't working correctly. The technician quickly worked up a price and had my screw up fixed in less time than I had to fix my breakfast. While eating my breakfast our technician gave a free safety inspection of all the switches, outlets, smoke and gas detectors inside and outside the house. After my breakfast was finished, I had my screw up fixed, a quote and scheduled date for the fixture installation, along with assurance in all the electrical work in the house, and a full belly. The only thing I had to do was cook my breakfast, and I'm sure they probably would've done that too if I asked. I definitely recommend this team for electrical work at your house.

Service was scheduled at 9:00 AM, and Deon confirmed the appointment the day before, which I appreciated since many companies leave guessing till the last minute. Deon also let me know that they were on the way to our home, prior to the appointment time, which to me is a professional way of conducting business!
