The officer was super friendly and polite. He knew it was my first time crossing here and that I usually crossed at Blaine. He said now I know the secret about this crossing when I said I was surprised there was only 1 car before me. This is a great place to cross if you're just heading into Bellingham as the road at the crossing is Guide Meridian, the same road which will take you into the heart of Bellingham.

If you're leaving after 5 PM, make sure you ask the guard to buzz you out if you're going down the elevator to the underground parking.

Finally remembered to write a review for my annual renew, especially for independent business contractors that need to drive a lot, especially to DT, you will thank me for this and add me as a fan lol. Here's how I'm going to sell this: do you want to park for free in DT for 30 min in any alley or on the main streets (ie. Burrard, Robson, etc.), for just $25?! I could probably sell thousands of these if I worked here lol. Of course, only at signs with commercial parking. And before the general public gets on the bandwagon, the lady here photocopies your car insurance (has to be commercial coverage, check), verifies your car does has company signage (check again), and also do loading/unloading (check once more). Plus, for any parking meter, you can park til 10:30am for free, as those meters kick in at 9am. Nice yellow decal to put by your rear view mirror, with a numbered license of course.

The Hats off Day Fest in Burnaby has been going strong since the 80s…read more The morning started off looking iffy - clouds + rain = I almost didn't go. I would have regretted that decision. However, the sunshine came through the clouds around 1pm & it was time to walk. Boundary Rd eastwards on Hastings St is closed for several blocks. I got my 10,000+ steps in. The businesses & community of this particular area of Burnaby known as - The Heights, take over Hastings St & joyfully sell their product curbside & on the street. There's food galore options, a parade, music to get you dancing & fun for kids - bouncy castle type activity. There was a classic car show as well to check out. It's a community event packed with fun & good cheer. Mark this festival down in your calender for next year. Don't miss it.

Re: payment of city property taxes…read more Extending a 'thanks' to Burnaby City Hall for increasing the "how to pay your property taxes" options available this year -- by including 'drop-off boxes' within Burnaby's 'Regional Recreation Centres'. We used the drop-off box located at City Hall one year. Though it was a handy way to pay one's taxes, for us, the location itself was not convenient. A great idea this year, and it sure helped us. The 'Centre' used was just a short, pleasant walk away, to a place where I much-enjoy a morning walk!! All went perfectly!!

Parking is available on Knowle Street. The inside actually has a small museum section, where one can learn about the history of the City. Being a municipal building, I'm sure the washrooms are nice too, but didn't use them. The receptionist was friendly (both on the phone and in person), and in both cases directed me to the correct counter. The other staff were friendly and quick too. I was in and out in minutes.

I don't take chances lol when it comes to $50 tickets which to me, is steak money. A much smaller city hall for obvious reasons; when you walk in, love the glass doors, you can only turn left or right, as per pic. But it really is nice, with the First Nations theme going on the reception area. Clean washrooms on the right; a bit high school like, with that type of tiling.
