New Westminster Quay Boardwalk - New Westminster Quay Boardwalk

New Westminster Quay Boardwalk

I recently had some friends move to the boardwalk area of New West, so of course I had to visit…read morethem right away and walk this boardwalk area with them. And I was so impressed! This boardwalk really reminded me of the seawall in Vancouver in the False Creek area near my place, but it differs in that it runs alongside the Fraser River which is a working river, with working barges and ferries and the like (and tour boats and paddle boats, too). It has a real air of authenticity in this regard. And I like that. This boardwalk of course is not as long as the Van seawall which stretches for miles along the perimeter of the city and wends its way around Stanley Park at the northern tip of the city. But this little boardwalk makes up for it in other ways: there are benches and flowers and quirky statues/public art (supposedly the largest tin soldier in the world is here! I plan on reviewing that artwork next), and restaurants along the walk with outdoor patios, and a huge public Riverwalk market (check for hours), and a large, swanky-looking (i.e. expensive) hotel on the water (the Inn at the Quay). There are also community spaces, a local history museum and, when I visited, a food truck festival a block away, across the train tracks. And it was hopping! Lots of strung lights crisscrossing the area, lots of people sitting and standing at or alongside bistro tables and chairs, laughing and chatting, eating and drinking, some just enjoying the hot summer night, socializing with their friends and neighbors. I gotta say, this boardwalk really fostered a sense of community here. I also so lots of dog walkers, and joggers, and walkers. This area is really used by locals in every way its designers intended. I walked here with my friends late at night and I felt totally safe. It is well-lit, and there was a good police presence, what with the food truck festival going on. This boardwalk is wooden (unlike the concrete-paved seawall) and that lends itself to its retro, old-fashioned feel. (Another poster likened it to the boardwalk in Atlantic City in New Jersey. I've been there many times, and that analogy is apt). This is a terrific area and I plan on visiting it often.

Wandering around New Westminster on a beautiful afternoon, how could we miss a walk along this…read moreperfect boardwalk. The boardwalk overlooks the Fraser River and with the tall buildings of New Westminster to the opposite side. The boardwalk (not all of it actual boards) extends from near the Patullo Bridge to Waterfront Esplanade Park. Not at all crowded with people though plenty of stuff to look at with captions along the way that provide some local history and geology. Several benches along the way, too! Is biking allowed? It seems to be pedestrian only. [Review 20895 overall - 71 in British Columbia - 1879 of 2023.]

I've been anxiously waiting for this package for quite some time now. I have received the Delivery…read moreNotice at my door as I got home from work. The Delivery Notice says that I can pick up my package at 6pm and it shows you the address where you can pick it up. So, I called the Pearl Cleaners Post Outlet to confirm if my package is there. No answer. I've tried several times. I've decided to go there and pick it up. I've drove 30 minutes to get there and when I get there, the guy scanned the Delivery Notice and he was like "It's not in the system. Unfortunately it's not in the system so we don't know where it is." and then I told him, the package is a small box. And then the old lady who also works there, told the guy "It's not there, we haven't scanned the items yet. Help the next client." I was like wth? I am still talking to them and I can see my parcel just behind him. I told him, here's my ID and check that parcel over there. He was like "Nope, can't help you. We have to add it to the system first. Then the old lady told me "It's not here, we can't help you. Come back tomorrow morning at 10am. It wasn't a good experience at all, considering my package is already there in front of them. So, the next day, after eating breakfast, I went there at 10am. Then guess what? They said it's not ready yet unfortunately. It's a different lady this time. The boxes that were there last night were all gone. I guess they already put it at the back storage somewhere. The lady then told me, we can't help you. You should've called first and before you drove all the way here. I was like well I tried calling several times, but no body answers the phone! She said I have to come back after 1pm because that's when they're gonna scan the items. This place has the worst customer service EVER! I would never go here. If only I can request my parcel to be sent somewhere else other than this postal outlet.

The main complaints I have are two. First I was stopped by an Indian Security and he asked if I had a mask. I was wearing a face covering and he said it was UNAPPROVED. Approved by whom? By what? I don't like this blue masks which are laced with carcinogenic ingredients and my own cloth material covering is clean and I don't want to breathe in anything that is harmful. He insisted I used the mask he gave me. Nothing but playing power trip. NOT IMPRESSED. I got an email notification about a video to pick up but when I showed up it was no where be found on the shelf under the initial of my last name. While I did get help from one of the counter staff and I told her perhaps someone just took the video and watched it inside the Library etc. This happens a lot in Vancouver Main Library as well. No, she offered to cancel my video and then put me back on ordering. But she did not place me on the next in the queue but back at the end of the waiting list. I waited weeks for this title now have to wait again. Poor management. Trust me IF I can find the same item in downtown I wouldn't bother to have to take 2 buses to Surrey!
