And after they give you the exact hair color that you told them in the beginning you DID NOT WANT, and warned them that your hair will turn auburn if they don't mix it right, YOU WILL HAVE AUBURN HAIR. As soon as she rinsed off the color, I said, "Oh no! it's red! I told you, I am a blonde& if you don't mix the color right it will turn red." "That's not red, it's your scalp that's pink." Then, they won't style your hair, but have you leave with it wet. "If we style it, it will frizz." Then use product! "No, I can't style it, it's frizzing." Of course, it's frizzy, you didn't use any product & you just barely dried it!! Then when you go to check out, thoroughly disgusted, they will charge you DOUBLE what they quoted when you came in. I am a blonde, not a red head. After she rinsed it, I could see that it was RED. She said, "No, it's just your scalp is red." Come on woman, I can see it with my own eyes!! Afterward I went to another salon & asked them, is this auburn? They all agreed it was. If you look at a horse, but tell everyone it's a butterfly, it's still going to be a horse. Then I go to pay & it's bait & switch. Instead of the $65 color quoted, suddenly it's $110. Then when you talk to the owner Angela and ask her to fix it, she will make it obvious that she DOES NOT CARE!!! "You didn't make clear what you wanted.". Lies, deception, rip off !!!! Now I have to go to my mother's funeral with dark auburn hair Level 5 when I am a blonde Level 8!!! I will have to have color correction & that is another $200. I intend to warn all of Temple about this incompetent, crooked hair salon so other women's hair hopefully won't RUINED for a big event. E'lan Salon equals HORROR STORY!! read more

Once inside they have a large waiting area with a variety of products available for sale. I had the pleasure of working with Hope. She was an absolute blessing! Amazing salon! Loved Josephine! My BFF and I both needed cuts/trims and checked out Yelp. We found this place just as advertised! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We called at 2 on a Friday and got appointments for 4 the same day. The location is very easy to find and the building itself is very up to date and clean. The shampoo area is comfy and everything smells so nice. My BFF saw Michelle B and is very pleased with her cut and style. She is very picky and walked out so happy with how her hair looks! I'm going to start this and say I don't recommend this place for multiple reasons- not just the stylist. I needed to get my hair done yesterday, don't have a hair stylist in the area, turned to yelp. I stopped by to see if I could book something, and they squeezed me in. I was grateful for it. The stylist who said she could take me said highlights and a cut. I'm not a stylist. Idk what my hair needed. A cut was for sure but highlights? Color? Whatever. I said highlights and a cut sounded good, and went back with her. I wanted to stick to about my hair color, and she had the color mixed when I sat down- we didn't talk about it. She did highlights, then put all over color on which was similarly not talked about, then a toner- again, not discussed. It was washed out (special shout out to the hair washing bowls from hell, wtf?? My head is literally still sore), my hair cut, then dried. As it was being dried I noticed a darker patch and asked about it, I was assured it was nothing- I have a pretty bad astigmatism and couldn't see as my glasses were on her counter, she asked me to remove them when it was cut so they weren't in the way. Once it was dry and she was showing it to me the cut looked okay and she told me the spot had blended in, no problem. This was literally said to me, so, yeah. It took longer than I expected, I was there a few hours, it cost more than I expected (but with all over color and toner applied that wasn't discussed... Surprise!! It was $150 before a tip) but I kept my mouth shut- they squeezed me in and I should have clarified better too, I was leaving around 4:48 pm. The next part is my fault- it's been a long week, I've got a sick kid, I took the wrong card in. My new one has a chip, old one doesn't and was deactivated. I asked to run to my bank and grab cash, they asked for collateral in the form of a different card from my wallet (wanted my DL, but, that makes teller interactions hard, they were left with a card I tend to not use). I drove to the bank, the salon closed at 5, I tried to call them twice, and didn't get an answer. I went home, my sick kid was sicker, we spent the night in the ER battling pneumonia and I was up all night doing mom with sick kid stuff. 1000% me there. I wasn't super thrilled about the 4 cop cars that showed up at the house the next morning threatening me with charges brought up by the salon though. They hadn't heard from me (my call log shows I called) and I slept in with the kiddo after a brutal night. This was around 11 am. I had one missed call on my phone from this salon. While dealing with the police and assuring them this wasn't a mad grab on a haircut, I was actually taking money back, my mom noticed some seriously bad patches in my hair. Like, adding pictures bad. There were chunks of different colors going on, patches- the parts I couldn't see were a mess. I asked her to accompany me to the salon and I asked to speak to the manager (it's recorded on both theirs and my ends, btw!!) and talked to her. I told her I wasn't super thrilled about the cops and here's her money, she wasn't getting squeezed, it was a long night and I was exhausted. I even said I was sorry I didn't get it to them earlier. The conversation went kind of sideways when a stylist that wasn't the one who worked on me started in about how I skipped the check and stuff and was popping off in the lobby in front of all of us, including other customers, and arguing with my mom. It was super not okay. The patchy hair was brought up, they said they would fix it if I wanted (I was on the fence, tbh) and apologized. It seemed a lot of misunderstanding and tension and just wasn't great all around. Fine. Shit happens, I'm sleep deprived, I'm paying $150 and my hair has patches, dealt with the police, and still have a sick kid. So, the stylist from the day before fixes it by doing a load more highlights lightening it up a few more shades, the patches are gone, but the haircut she used a razor I guess (again- no glasses or I'd have shut that down) and back stroked or something and now I have ultra light blonde going on with loads of split ends after a few more hours. The other stylist and the manager there both apologized for the stylist's comments and the misunderstanding, but honestly the whole thing sucked. It's unfortunate because it's a very nice, clean salon and they seemed like nice people but... it was so bad overall. My stylist was very nice, my haircut when straightened looked good, but highlights were a tough go, and there's a load of split ends. The salon itself is nice, but... it's run in an interesting way. read more

I enjoyed my pedicure and manicure here and thought the experience was okay BUT there were three things that really ruined the experience for me. The first was the attitude and lack of friendliness from the front desk staff. It was a bad energy from the get-go. They were deep in conversation with someone I later learned was a massage therapist. It seemed I was bothering them by checking in. The massage therapist himself had on shorts and flipflops. Not impressive. They call this a "spa", yet no water or other refreshments were available during my pedicure. Hmmm... Additionally, my pedicure chair wasn't even a massage chair. It vibrated. Who wants to vibrate for an hour? That was weird. No thanks. Lastly, I noticed during my manicure that they give you a gift bag if you give them a good review and show it to them. My daughter went in for her first big-girl haircut (she's almost 5!), told him she wanted it "flat", so after he cut it he straightened it and blow-dried it and made her feel like a princess!! I have very ticklish feet so I have a difficult time letting anyone work on my feet. Nina has some experience with reflexology, so she gave the best for massage ever, and the products she used have left my feet perfectly smooth and soft. Disclaimer: I would give this place 4.5 stars, but that's not an option. It doesn't deserve a 4, but it's not quite good enough to get a 5, so here's why I'd give it 4.5 stars. I've lived in the area for 5 1/2 years and had yet to find someone who could cut AND color my hair properly. Key word in that last sentence was "had". I've found the person who can do both, and I couldn't be more excited! The salon itself is beautiful. The front area is large and open, and I appreciate that the front area is separate from the salon area so there's not a lot of phones ringing, chatter from the desk staff, etc. The back area was very clean, and nicely separated. My appointment was with Crystal. She was very sweet and friendly. I've been trying to grow out my hair for about a year and a half, and seeing as I have baby fine hair she very nicely (yet bluntly) told me that my hair would not look good grown out because it would look stringy and weighed down. She told me I had the perfect hair for a bob, and after showing her a picture on my phone of what I used to do in the past (Jenny McCarthy bob) she told me that would be perfect. She did a wonderful job on my color, although I wish it could have been a little blonder. It's the right color, and it didn't turn to mush, so I'm happy. I was almost giddy when she got out the razor to cut my hair (my stylist from back home did that, so I know it works on my hair), so I knew it would hopefully look great. Never in my life have I been that person that everyone - co-workers, friends, people at church, even strangers - stops and compliments me on my hair - UNTIL NOW. I've had so many people in the last 4 days tell me how adorable and how wonderful my hair looks, and I am so glad, relieved, and thrilled that I've found someone who can make me look great! What I appreciate the most was that she told me what she was doing, like putting a toner in my hair. Many salons I've been to won't tell you what they're doing. I also appreciated that she told me about what product she was using without being pushy. When I told her I used a Bumble&Bumble product, she didn't try to switch me over to Aveda. As it turned out, one of the products she used worked beautifully on my hair, and I bought it - best $26 I've spent in a while. The only downfall to the salon was the gentleman in the front. I've worked a salon front desk before, so I know that there are just times the brain isn't working right. :) But he royally butchered my last name (even having spelled it 3 times for him, and it's not that hard to spell). He was also gossiping quite freely in the front, going as far as to call a co-worker who had just left the room "stupid". Not exactly professional, at least tone down your voice if you're going to verbally bash a co-worker. I'm excited to go back, and I can't wait to tell Crystal how many compliments I've received. E'Lan is definitely a bright spot in Temple's beauty and salon scene, and I'm eager to try a facial there! read more

I am new to the Temple area and after moving from the LA area, was nervous about finding a great salon in this small town. I was prepared to maybe have to drive to Austin for good cut and color. However, my fellow Yelpers helped me discover this gem of a place right here! The salon is large, open and clean. The stations are not all crammed right next to each other so that you have no breathing room. The best part: Toni took my over processed lifeless hair and gave it a great style. i felt like i had a new head of hair when i left. She showed me the products she was using on my hair but there was no pressure to buy. I will be seeing her for my cuts and color as long as I live within driving distance. I had just moved To Temple from Ks, where I had gone to the same stylist for 20+ yrs. when I moved I figured I would fly/go back every 5-6 weeks to have my hair done. WRONG! I couldn't make it back one time as soon as I needed, so started looking for a stylist in Temple. I read the review about Crystal here at E'Lan salan. It talked about the nice job she did on fine hair. So me, having baby fine and thin hair, and being super pickey about the way I wanted my hair cut, I made an appt with Crystal! When I went in, I listed the criteria I Wanted with my hair cut. She was able to hit the mark with everything I listed. After scheduling issues on my part, I went back today for my second appt. We talked about my first cut, etc. she made the changes plus highlighted and waxed. I loved it! My hair was wonderful--crystal was wonderful. I now know I won't have to make that 8 hr trip back to Ks to see my old stylist--I found one I like just as good or better. Not to mention how flexible they were in working/ booking me in after my appt nightmare! Highly recommend Crystal! Especially if you have short, fine thin hair! 5 thumbs up as they say! read more

Being a traveling family, that moves every 6-7 months, finding a decent salon is always hard, having anxiety about getting my hair cut is even worse, I generally know walking into a salon that something horrible is going to happen, until today! Today I found the place! Even more so, the stylist! I booked the appointment as a haircut only, walked in with severely over processed hair, and thought I was leaving with short hair! Sitting in Benji's chair he made me feel comfortable, offered a treatment to fix my hair, and we decided to go ahead and color it and add a glaze. Of course I thought what the heck, I don't get my hair done nearly as often as most women, and usually do the color on my own. So treat myself a bit. And went with it. I am more than happy with the outcome of my hair, and he cut very little off the length, just as I had hoped for. I've been to E'Lan twice to get spray tans before events. While the spray tans always look good and NEVER look orange, the ladies at the front desk are rude and unprofessional. My friend and I got to our appointment on time to get spray tans and another lady was arriving late at the same time, the lady who had 3 kids with her for some reason got priority over my friend and I. She was rushed in and we had to wait. The lady who did my spray tan did a good job, the spray tan looked natural and she was sweet and nice to talk to, I just didn't appreciate being put last after I showed up on time. read more

Service: Body Wave perm It has been 4 days and so far, I hate it, to the point of tears- something that has only happened once before (when i got a very short cut from Mastercuts-yikes). My hair was about shoulder length and Toni cut in layers before she permed it. Now, I feel like I have a Jheri curl. I do not blame her. I think maybe it just needs some time...and lots of deep conditioning. I think it would have been slightly better if she trimmed it AFTER the perm to remove damage, but we discussed it before she began and she disagreed. When I go to get my hair done, nails done or a massage, I want to be be taken care of rather than tolerate the service(s) and surroundings. I finally found my home at E'Lan, a full-service operation and very professional. I've got very short hair and have never had a better haircut than what I've gotten from Gino....the best! My entire immediate family plus my mother and sister have been choosing E'Lan Salon for all our hair care needs since the beginning of their operation. One daughter drives in from San Antonio. The owner Angela is also the best colorist and stylist in the central Texas area and she runs this Aveda salon with professionalism and a focus on continuing education. In recent months I have had an experience with Angie for shellac manicures and maintenance and spa pedicures. Angie's workmanship is excellent which led me to cancel my standing manicure appointments with an Austin shop near my work and reschedule with Angie. I don't think the locals realize that there is a different type pedicure service for every budget and the prices are competitive with the many walk in shops around Bell County.
