This place is horrible. Elevators are ALWAYS broken, zero accessible doors, garbage left by dumpsters for months... current moldy mattress has been out there for about 4 months - not an eye sore at all for those with that view, or even drive into that parking garage. No air circulation at all. Place gets hot and smelly in the summer months. YOUR MAIL will get stolen... a lot. Packages left everywhere, even if you are paying for a locker. Favoritism for certain residents is obvious... The 2 facilities workers are very kind, but over worked. Prices out of control, rent HIKES constantly, with no explanation, and not competing well with other locations. So glad I'm out! I was too nervous to write anything while living there, in fear of retaliation. The location is amazing, I will say that. read more

I moved to Elan because I needed a short term lease after selling my house. Now that I'm moving into a new house I am going to miss this place and how convenient life has been for the last few months, you can walk to literally everything! The best thing by far are the Friday food trucks, such a nice way to end the busy week and support local restaurants. read more

This is a nice apartment complex with in a great location but the fact that it's incredibly hard to get ahold of the staff, whether through email, in person or over the phone, makes it very frustrating. The elevator hasn't been working in around 2 months as well. read more

I have been living in this building for nearly a year now and it has been great. The location is great. There are a ton of restaurants and shops within walking distance. There is a trail off the building that takes you directly to the Sammamish River trail, so it's well positioned for before or after work workouts. Our neighbors are respectful and the building has a chill vibe. Management is great and responsive to needs. Very happy living here. read more

Have lived here for three and a half months or so. When my boyfriend and I first moved here from Utah, the building was being managed by Greystar. We love Greystar! Where'd ya go? Why'd ya leave? Having moved here from out of state, we visited the building prior to moving. The management we met then was fantastic! Amy, Sammie, Sheri, all of them! Truly amazing! Went above and beyond to take care of us and the complications with moving from another state. We were thrilled to be moving to Elan and so excited to be in the gorgeous building! Since we've lived here, Berkshire is now the new management team and all of the great staff that we fell in love with are gone. The Berkshire staff is not friendly and unaccommodating. It's unfortunate because we were so excited to move here, even with the high rent. At the time of move in, it seemed well worth the price but I think with the management change and other reviews on here, we'll be signing a lease elsewhere when ours is up. Disappointing. read more

So, I have to say that while my initial review of Elan after the property was purchased by Berkshire Properties was less than complimentary, I have decided to update my review, based on the last 6 months. The customer service has REALLY improved, and while the parking is still unbelievably ridiculous, the staff have bent over backwards to make the place a very good place to live. Location is great, as it's minutes away from Half Price Books, Redmond Town Center, etc., and the rent seems on par with the area. read more

I lived there for a year and this is my fair review. One bedroom/One bathroom/Den (Wood floors and bedroom / bathroom connected) $1775 per month $75 parking space per month $25 Valet Trash (Mandatory) After one year they wanted to raise my rent around $100 more and parking was now $95 and $25 Valet Trash now optional. Pros: 1. Apartments are fairly new and have great layouts. Wood floors and very nice appliances. 2. They are close to Redmond Town Center and the area have good restaurants. 3. They check the apartments and fire alarms often to see if any repair need to be done. 4. Packages are available as soon as they arrive. 5. Quiet building, since I don't think there was much people living in there. Cons: 1. Parking is awful, for guest and residents, small spaces (95 usd per month for a single space, was 75 usd before). 2. Elevators were out of service often (there are just 2 for the whole building), I am glad I was living in the 3rd floor so I could take the stairs. And when they were working were so slow. So if you decide to move in here make sure you are willing to take stairs often. 3. Even when the staff is friendly, they most part of the time didn't know how to address my issues/concerns so I had to wait until they find out what to do, and the most part of the time I just gave up. and when they have a solution they are not flexible at all to give you options. 4. The price is kind of high for a small building with almost no amenities. I am paying less for an apartment in Downtown Bellevue with a hotel type amenities (pool, tanning bed, two gyms, common areas with TVs and pool tables, coffee and soft drinks 24/7, showers for after gym and more). 5. When I moved out they charged me for the cleaning (100 usd), even when I hire someone to clean it (another 120 usd) they decided to charge me, so don't even try to clean, leave it like that, they will charge you anyways ! 6. I am still waiting for my deposit to be returned (considering I moved out 1 month ago, I think I can complain now). They told me it will take 14 days and still waiting and when I called them they didn't know how to answer/address my concern. They told me they will call back and I am still waiting. I was never late on my rent or any payment, so it is annoying to be calling to get my money back, what if it is me the one missing in the payment for more than 5 days? 7. Sometimes the Valet Trash was so late and some days they didn't even pick up my trash. read more

I have lived here for almost 2 years. Love the location being close to restaurants and bars. Walking trails are awesome during those sunny days. Elan is always kept clean and management is friendly. The Hub space downstairs is great to hold big parties. Being in a one bed, one bath, I have plenty of space and storage. Biggest issues I have had is that the parking stalls are super small in both resident and visitor parking. I have a compact car and I can barely park it in a compact spot. During the summer months, the building would get very warm. I had to purchase an AC unit for my bedroom which increased my electrical bill by $100 each month. read more

We have lived here for almost a year now and are finishing up our lease. We have really loved living here. The location is so great - so walkable! We are on the top floor so I'm not sure how the noise level is for those under. The unit is pretty well insulated from noise. If the neighbors to your sides are being extremely loud with bass or hammering, you'll hear it but that's to be expected. You can't really hear any normal day to day noises from your neighbors. Staff has been great. No maintenance problems. Parking spots are small but they're doable. Super dog friendly. Great area on second floor for grilling or hanging out. We do hear a lot of sirens though when our windows are open. I'm not sure if it's because of 405 being close or what. Overall super pleased with Elan and the staff. read more

I enjoyed most about Elan Redmond in my time living there. I will say that the parking spaces are really small and the compact spaces can barely fit a tiny car. Some of the office staff were less than fun to interact with but most of the time it was pleasant. The shops in the area are fantastic and I didn't have to deal with too much noise in the time that I stayed there. The two elevators could be a bit annoying but there were stairs located around the building to help alleviate that issue. My biggest problem was the fact that now a month and a half after moving out I can't get a hold of anyone to get my security deposit back or my final move out letter. Usually I would get a response quickly but unfortunately I have no heard anything back after a few inquiries. I have to say this is really disappointing and it is giving me a negative view on the development in its entirety. I really do hope to hear something soon. read more

The community is directly next to an active construction site (construction on Cleveland). The location of the community is great - its centrally located to nearly everything you need. Its also near a lot of bars, events, and other things. This plus the construction make it in my personal opinion a fairly noisy place to live if you need fresh air at night (windows open). The staff at the community did try to resolve the issue after understanding my frustrations... Unfortunately, this behavior was not seen until Graystar took over. (Fairly recent if I recall correctly). Graystar does try to hold resident events, but I get the general vibe that the community is dead. My neighbors never said hi to me. They never wave and smile. Everyone here seems super business-y In my opinion, the only things that could be considered luxury with this place are the price and the location. The cost per square footage is kind of high (probably because of the location). Most of the homes do not have AC, and if you're facing west during the week of summer, its uncomfortable. An additional complaint I have about the place is its cleanliness. There are days where the elevator has a wet dog smell. Some days, mysterious puddles are on the floor. The doors and walls are scratched in many places, but I can attest they do have a cleaning service which tends to the community. The apartments themselves are pretty standard in my opinion. They have the typical stainless steel fridge and basic dishwasher. You have two choices for internet... Comcast or Frontier. They do not have any sort of security systems installed and do not have anything that really wows me in retrospect. (I moved in on a whim a while ago). The community has two parking garages that are "controlled access" but does not have any sort of monitoring system as far as I know. In fact, I haven't seen a camera in this community. They do have a trash pickup, but do not have a way for you to bring stuff down to the trash bins (they did when I moved in). Maybe Graystar will change things up. I'm not sure. I can say that I do not want to live here. For Graystar, here's what I recommend: - either start enforcing the noise policy or help residents secure a quieter home. - create a community for everyone and hold events. Introduce us. - address maintenance requests in a timely manner (the previous owners ignored them) - take feedback from your residents to heart... - install AC in the western homes or offer a way to keep them cool in the summer. read more

Prior to moving into our Elan Redmond apartment unit, we were apprehensive about downsizing to an apartment after many years living in our own home. We weren't sure how well we would adjust to urban apartment living. The friendly staff, friendly neighbors and a convenient location made it a positive and easy move for us. I've tried to discuss the issues brought up by other reviewers, from our perspective, below: STAFF- The Elan Redmond has a helpful and courteous staff. We love our unit and the sense of community in this building. Erin has trained her staff very well. Whenever any issues arise, Erin, Janel, or Jose respond immediately and they have become friends. SERVICE is their top priority, from our experience. LOCATION - This complex is close to everything; Redmond Town Center, buses, restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, nail salons, the Farmer's Market... It's a 15-minute drive to Seattle and 20 minutes to Issaquah. MSFT is 10 minutes away. We can walk to almost any service we need. NOISE LEVEL - If you want a suburban environment, this is NOT for you. If you want an urban location close to serves, expect to have urban noise. We adjusted quickly. Inside the unit, I very rarely hear any noise from another unit. It must be well insulated. APARTMENT UNIT - We downsized from 4600sf house in an executive neighborhood to a 960sf unit and we both love this place. It is light, bright, clean, and amazingly functional. It was not a hardship to leave so much space behind. It was a huge relief. We bought an extra ceiling fan and an AC unit for summer heat. They work well to keep temperatures comfortable. PARKING - Even with a large van and an SUV, we have plenty of space in tandem parking. BALCONY - We have a large balcony with enough space for outdoor eating and lots of planters for potted plants. I even fit my potting table on the patio. Nice sunsets and views. OUTDOOR BBQ - The amazing outdoor BBQ is always clean and ready for family and friends. ELEVATOR - We've never had a problem getting the elevator quickly. It's always clean, functions well and has never been a problem for us. GREEN NON SMOKING BUILDING - This is a HUGE plus if you have any environmental sensitivities. No allergy issues for me in this building, which says a lot. LANDSCAPING - The hardscape and gardens are lovely all year round. We highly recommend this building and it's amenities! Elan Redmond is a great place to live. read more

First let me say that I'm still getting used to living around so many people. I've been pretty secluded for the last six years. TL;DR: I don't hate it, but don't love it. West side of bldg is SUPER NOISY from trash pickup, drunks at the Matador, and squealing children from Tipsy Cow. Being close to Tipsy Cow is AWESOME because it's the best damn burger I've had in a LONG LONG time. Building is insanely hot for no good reason year round. Parking Garage sucks, spaces are too small. Elevators are slow. THE GOOD!! -The Manager is AWESOME! She's personable, friendly, thoughtful, and has gone out of her way for me and others. She seems to genuinely care and she's fun. :) -The countertops in unit are nice! -The balconies are a pretty decent size on the 1br units. -The office is open 9am-7pm! They accept package deliveries and are open long enough to pick up after work. :) -The building Location is great! Redmond Town Center is across the street, the farmers market is basically in our back yard! The bad: 1) DO NOT CHOOSE AN APARTMENT ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE BUILDING. This is the noisiest side of the building. SO NOISY it's infuriating. -There are several rounds of garbage trucks that come every weekday starting around 7:30am. Imagine the sounds of large machinery slamming metal around, shattering glass, back-up noises from trucks, not to mention the deliveries to Tipsy Cow (located on ground floor of this building) and to the Matador next door. --The Matador. HELL NO. Picture it, it's 2am. The bar is shutting down. EVERYONE IS DRUNK. They're standing around in the parking lot, SCREAMING DRUNKENLY. It's Summer, so you've got the windows open because it's SWELTERING HOT in your apartment. You're awakened by a drunk woman screaming "WOOOOOOOOO!! WOOOO! WOOOOO!!!" and a Bro screaming "FUCK YEAH!" for ... no apparent reason? This happens during the week, on the weekends, basically any time the bar is open. Sometimes the Matador keeps their windows open so you can hear every screaming conversation happening INSIDE the restaurant, too! Nice! 2) These apartments are insanely hot for no apparent reason. It's November 1, and as I write this, my apartment is a nice 75°F for some reason. It's been overcast and raining for the last week, and no warmer than 60°F outside, yet my apartment never gets lower than 75°F without opening all the windows and putting a big fan to pull cool air in. During the summer, if I keep my blinds drawn, curtains shut, and windows closed, it's always *way* over 85°F in my apartment. I will say that the leasing office gave me a portable AC unit to use, which was SUPER nice of them!! (A+ for that!) However, I paid for it via a pretty high ($90/mo.) electricity bill. (Looks like a normal no-AC elec. bill for this apt is about $48/mo.) 3) The Elevators. Like anybody else who's commented on them, they suck. They're just awful. They are in fact slow, and only one of the elevators goes to the parking garage for guests. If you have a friend visiting and they want to take the elevator, they have to play roulette to see if they'll get the elevator that has parking garage access. Also, the office will lock down one of the elevators (The one that goes to the parking garage) when people are moving in or out. That means you only have access to one elevator to use, and if you're coming from the guest garage or from outside, you won't know the elevator is locked down until you get into the foyer and the button won't work. It's frustrating to say the least. The only time this elevator system is nice is when you're moving in. or out. :-/ 4) The Parking Garage. They are literally the tiniest spots I've ever seen in my entire life. You can maybe fit a Fiat or a smart car into them, but any normal small car won't fit. My car happens to be 69" wide (Nissan Juke) and I'd guess the spot is maybe 72" wide judging by how my car fits. You can't back out and turn while backing out, so you have to back straight all the way out, and then do a 75-point-turn to be able to leave. It's amazing that there is a garage for guests to park in as well but the spots seem even smaller in the guest garage. People are constantly just double parking in there because the spots are impossible. 5) The interior of the apartment: They don't really let you see the unit you're going to rent until you've signed all the papers. They'll be happy to show you a "Demo" unit but you're kind of renting sight unseen. 6) There's one member of the staff that doesn't seem to care much. I won't name names, but I avoid this individual at all costs. Each interaction I have with them is passive-aggressive and fake, and they don't even try to find out information about what I'm inquiring about. They leave me angry and resentful. 7) My upstairs neighbor seems to be an elephant. These apartments have vinyl plank flooring (def. not hardwood or laminate, as some parts are peeling up) so you hear every step they take above you! get a top floor unit if you can! read more

Oh my goodness! I honestly have no idea where to start explaining how much I love this place!! Elan has been our home for almost three years. We've looked at other places to live that have popped up in Redmond and none of them feel like they stand up to the quality of build at Elan. The bedrooms are larger than average and the flow of energy is far from awkward. The layouts of the units were planned with well intentions. Furthermore the garage parking spots are spacious compared to other apartments in Redmond. Only downfall is sometimes there is a waiting list for parking. Lastly management is friendly and proactively takes care of tenants concerns. Maintenance manager Jose is diligent and works in a timely matter when issues arise. We are privileged to not live on the Tipsy Cow/Matador side of the building, smelling burgers and Mexican food during summer time isn't all pleasant but eh whatev' read more
