I don't actually live here but my buddy has been for the last four years and she and her husband have really liked it! They moved units one time but both places they'd been were spacious, modern, and nice (at least in my opinion, as a visitor). They do have guest parking available, you just fill out the online form so you don't get towed but it's easy. I don't know much about the other amenities here but my friend has been pretty satisfied with it and said if she wasn't changing jobs she'd have stayed longer :) read more

Elan East has been the best apartment complex I've ever lived in, hands down. I've never lived anywhere before that truly makes an effort to cultivate community. Each month they have a calendar of events with fun activities to do and get to know your neighbors. On top of that the amenities are awesome, we have a pool area that feels like I'm on vacation, a gym and a clubhouse area where you can chill or get work done. The location is central to everything in Austin and Manor Rd. has some really fun restaurants and bars within walking distance. I truly have no complaints about this place and I've been living here for almost 5 years. I highly recommend! read more

This was the best experience I've ever had renting in Austin. Special thanks to the leasing specialist Ajani who helped me through the entire process, and even more incredible, it took less than 24 hours from the moment I submitted my application to the moment I moved in. All the properties are fantastic, with three swimming pools and a great gym. I'd especially like to highlight the Amazon Locker, which helps me receive my Amazon packages at a convenient time. NEW TENANTS BEWARE Let me preface this by saying I have never in my life felt any need to leave a review online no matter how bad my experience was. I would give negative stars here if I could. So let's get into it. I had a long checklist when I was looking for apartments, long enough that I passed on many places just from a quick look at the website/complex. Fast forward a bit and I found Elan East, which I thought was the perfect apartment for me. But little did I know I would move into a moldy studio and receive little to no help from management. I moved in at the end of June 2025 to immediately notice the apartment felt extremely humid. I brush it off initially as I was preoccupied with moving all of my stuff into my new place. A day or so later I put in a maintenance request because the balcony door is stuck shut and I thought that maybe the seal was busted and leaking outside air into the apartment. Maintenance comes and fixes the door and tells me it feels fine, their humidity readers show normal, and my favorite of his excuses, "its an old building sometimes things like this happen." For the next week or so I continued to complain about the humidity and received the same answers from management and maintenance, "nothing is wrong, lower your air conditioning more if it feels humid." None of their suggestions helped. Keep in mind I have 3 humidity sensors of my own that have been in different places around that room since I first moved in, I have rarely seen them drop below 70%. And with all the rain we got at the end of June, 80-85% was more common.Now after about 2 weeks in the apartment I find mold. I bring it to their attention and they immediately seem to jump into action, talking to the contractors onsite (resealing all of the outer windows), calling third party contractors, and looking into vacant apartments if I have to move. They were able to determine the mold did come through my window which wasn't properly sealed and had been leaking. Sounds great right? Think they have it under control? Wrong. The next day they removed the mold and cover up the area where it was, tell me its good to go now and everything (humidity included) is under control, and that the contractors onsite will not get to the area my room is for another 2-4 weeks to seal it. When I complained about this their solution is to cramp my already tiny studio with an industrial fan and industrial dehumidifier that drains into the sink. Not only do these machines take up much needed real estate in the apartment, but they were extremely loud, especially for a studio apartment and someone who works from home. I asked them to remove this egregious attempt at a half ass solution and not surprisingly, the humidity in the room immediately went back over 70%. If you made it this far, feel free to check out the pictures attached I'm sure it will give you a laugh. So if you think this place might be a good choice for you, all I have to say is I hope you don't have any issues, they'll just tell you you're wrong, slap some paint on it, and keep charging top dollar rent. Oh not to mention they told code enforcement it would be fixed within the week not 2 hours after telling me still up to 4 weeks to seal the window. read more

I am about to move out of state, but wanted to leave a review for those apartment seekers in east Austin, because I have seen a range of comments left here . I came to Austin on business over a year ago, and my experience at Elan East apartments has been very good. I am a consultant who worked out of the apartment when not traveling, so I got a good feel for daily life here and in the immediate neighborhood. My apartment overlooked Randolph Road , which apart from the occasional dog barking ( what neighborhood in Austin doesn't ?), is suburban quiet, has a great lazy feel to it - lots of trees and natural landscaping with the private homes across the street. The neighborhood is great to walk or run, with many stretches with little traffic near the metro train tracks. You can also take a brisk walk to the Farmers Market on Sunday in Mueller Park where you can find local harvest fruits and vegetables, snacks and ranch fed beef. Also, let me say that this is a youthful community here ( well at least at my age, anyone in their 20s and 30s is youthful!) . I was a bit skeptical at first that this would be a 'party place' but I have found my neighbors to be polite and considerate of others, and this has been consistent with the folks who come in as others leave. I love the 24-hour gym , it's an intimate setting of not more than 3 people no matter what day or time I go. Great pool setting too. The management and maintenance teams at Elan East are very customer service oriented, friendly, timely and responsive. Every service request ( minor maintenance ) I have put in has been completed to my satisfaction within 24-48 hours. My most critical request was to fix my refrigerator which had gone out at 4 in the afternoon. I had many things defrosting rapidly. The Elan East team, rather than wait for a part, replaced mine with a new one that they had just put into an empty apartment, all within an hour! As a business person working from home , I was able to use AT&T high speed internet, and have enjoyed uninterrupted service both on the computer and video streaming. I did leave one star out because there were a few minor things that were not perfect ( which Apt is?) , like mandatory valet trash, but they go with the territory, no matter where you lease. read more

We have lived at elan for over 1 year and love it! The management is close to us and know us by name. We love that the apartment complex is small enough that you (or visitors) can't get lost We love that the apartment complex also does a lot of community events for us! Only 2 down falls is that there is construction across the street so it's very loud and bright into our apartment and our upstairs neighbor is loud as heck even though we have talked to him several times. read more

This is the best apartment building and community I have lived in. The management is absolutely terrific! They keep the community entertained with plenty of activities and celebrations. I am OUTRAGED. I have now had my storage unit broken into TWICE in the past 6 weeks. In both instances, the unit was LOCKED so SOMEONE HAS A KEY. According to the housing contract only the leasing office office and myself should have a key to my unit, so HOW IS THIS HAPPENING? The first time I was ROBBED, I called and emailed the office and NO ONE called me back. When I called again the office had someone change the lock to match my apartment door and said they would look at the security footage from all the exits. As of yet, NO ONE called me back with any updates on the footage and the person who robbed me continues to hold A KEY TO MY APARTMENT. I feel incredibly UNSAFE in my own home and let down by Elan East. Additionally, other tenants have been posting about stolen property on the apartment portal, so this is clearly a much bigger issue that MUST be addressed. read more

Wow. What a corporate machine. Don't be fooled by all the glamour and aesthetics of this place. Deep down they are a money-driven corporate entity that is only out to optimize their investment. If you love the amenities, then just be prepared for NO exceptions on anything. Getting out of our lease was impossible, and we had to pay 2x rent to get out (over $4000!!). When I didn't return a parking sticker, they charged me $50!! Why? It's just a sticker. Charge me $10 or something. Ridiculous. Then, when I returned the parking permit sticker later (because I found it), they gave the excuse that it was past the "7 day grace period". Give me a break. I mean literally, cut me some slack, and do something nice for an old tenant. At the end of the day, when they learn that you're leaving, you're just a big opportunity to charge and get the most out of you. Beware of the corporate monster that is Greystar. It's too bad their own management can't stand up to their greed monkey bosses and just be a nice landlord that makes exceptions and/or grants favor. So, be ready for nothing when you leave and don't be fooled by the sweet faces in the front office. Scam! read more

One building apartments will always have the pet potty problem. Animals can not control the wait period from your door to the elevator to the next door to finally outside in the dog park to use the rr. You would literally have to have them on a strict schedule calculating the waittime to exit the building. read more

I LOVE living here!! I love the pool, it's so gorgeous and it feels like you're at a retreat. Bianca and Shane in the office are always so warm and welcoming. They even wrote me a sweet card when it was my birthday and stuck it at my door. Such a nice touch, right?! I always love getting to say hi when I'm around the office. Management is also really good at keeping up with maintenance and making sure things stay clean and polished. Currently, our building are getting repainted so they look brand new! Definitely recommend checking out Elan East if you're looking in the area. I love the walkability to the metro rail, nail salon, my Wax That salon, restaurants & coffee shops. I've been living here going on 9 months and it's been such a joy! Lease is up in a couple months and (fingers crossed) my rent doesn't go up too much because I plan on staying for a while! EE is a little slice of heaven on the east side. Between walkable restaurants, friendly management and maintenance staff, you'll never want to leave! Moving to EE is like coming home to family. The management staff is so friendly and accommodating and the maintenance crew are so knowledgeable and quick to fix any issues. Broken A/C fixed in a day, I thought surely I'd have to wait. Nope! Elan East is the classic example of something being pretty on the outside but rotten at its core. This was by far the worst apartment renting experience I have had in over ten years of renting, more horrible even than when I briefly lived above an auto shop. The clashing! The banging! The fumes! All of that seems like a pleasant spring day in the park compared to my experience at Elan East. The rotating pool of office staff is made up of some of the most inconsiderate people I have ever met. After getting into a horrible car accident in which my car was totaled, they tried to make me pay $50 for a new parking sticker. Seriously?!? Seriously. Oh, how am I doing? I'm glad to be alive, but we're just going to argue about how the sticker no longer exists and how I can't possibly turn it into you guys BECAUSE IT'S GONE ALONG WITH MY CAR. We were also lied to prior to moving in about the amenities. We were told you could reserve space at the pool for parties. Three months later, we were told by a newly hired person we could not, and also told that if we went ahead and had people over to the pool, we would be charged an exorbitant fee. (This pre-supposing that we would break the rules was really hurtful and disrespectful. It felt like a bad parent reprimanding a good child for doing nothing wrong. We're all adults here. I think our rule-breaking days are behind us, thanks.) We were told we could rent the shared common area on the first floor for parties for free. We did, in fact, do this for a party with friends, going through the office channels. When we tried to reserve the space again a few months later, we were told by yet another newly hired person that we would have to put down a deposit and we would be charged $100 per hour. When I replied to that email asking when the rules had changed, I was told that they had not changed, and they had always been that way. Which is a lie. Because we had previously reserved the space. The email was curt and rude, and it seems odd to not even recognize that we had been residents long before they had been employed there, and that we might be privy to information they were not. They also failed to ever fix our under-heated laundry machine. We put in two maintenance requests, and both times were told the machine was running at the standard temperature and that there was nothing they could do. Then why did it take five cycles to dry one load of laundry? We live in a house now, and the first time I used the dryer and opened it up, I swear I heard angels singing Hallelujah. One cycle and the clothes are dry!!! That, indeed, is true luxury. Also, if a postman ever accidentally delivers your package to the office instead of your front door, it will disappear into an abyss. We had important home-buying paperwork FedExed to us overnight that we didn't receive. I checked with the office the next day, and they said they didn't have it. The sender checked the confirmation number and said it had arrived that morning. My husband had to take a half-day off work to drive and get the paperwork for us to sign and return before the noon deadline. THREE WEEKS LATER, we get a weird email from the office saying that we need to immediately pick up a package from the office. What package? We didn't order anything. OH! That package you said you didn't have, and then when it did arrive, no one told us and you just let it sit there for three weeks? Oh, right, that package. This wasn't the only package that mysteriously disappeared, although it was the only one that resurfaced. We had several other packages from Amazon and other stores that just never showed up. And the walls and floors are thin, EXTREMELY THIN. The complex is nice-looking from the outside but poorly built on the inside. You can hear every step on the floor above you and every dog bark from your surrounding neighbors. If you like relaxing at home, then forget about it. Instead of enjoying The Walking Dead while sipping a glass of wine on a weekend night, you will be mentally counting the thuds of steps above your head while feeling like a zombie from the lack of sleep you will get from living there. There are a lot of tenants with dogs, and there is often feces, urine, and vomit around the property that doesn't get cleaned up, especially in the elevator. Maybe they are short-staffed, but it's an awful experience to walk into an elevator loaded down with groceries and almost step in dog urine. Seriously. That happened too many times to count, and all I can say is that I'm glad I don't wear flip-flops, because those puddles were deep. In a nutshell: STAY AWAY! Please do yourself a favor and run in the other direction of this apartment complex. There are other more affordable places on Manor with nicer people working at them, that actually care about the people living in the apartments and not just nickel-and-diming everyone that walks in the door. read more

My boyfriend and I toured the complex today and it was stunning and Shane was amazing-very helpful and knowledgeable and we enjoyed our time on the tour to view the amenities and space. Loving my new home. I've been in since August 1st, and it's been great. We hit a few hiccups when I was first getting my lease set up because their office moved around during construction, but once they settled into their permanent digs, things went along just fine. It's a great location and a great price for the area. The bus stops out front and runs to UT, which is great, and the rail is only a couple of blocks away. It's close to Mueller, so I hop over to that HEB and farmer's market for most of my needs, though Ingredients is right next door and has a lot of good grocery options. The community space is nice and fun, the gym is good, and the pools are well-done. They have group workout classes, dry-cleaning delivery service, and valet trash. Living in a construction zone can be a pain in the ass, but it's good now that it's wrapping up. Looking forward to staying here awhile. read more

I have been living in elan east for a few weeks now and I must say I love it. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 star (truly it's more of a 4.5 but I can't give half points on Yelp) was because on move in day I found a few annoying things such as the walls not being repainted, one of the doors full of scratches (also not repainted), the window blinds also wasn't working, and a couple of pests in the house. If it weren't for those things I would have given Elan East a 5/5. The staff here are very nice and attentive. I personally want to do an honorable mention to Shane and Bianca and also their maintenance man Jose for being so attentive to our needs. They also fixed all the above complaints the next day and did pest control. We have not seen any pests since then and made sure we keep our apartment super clean to prevent any further ones from coming in just in case. I hate hate bugs. The apartments here are also very spacious and very good for the price we got. The gym is also very nice. Although I wish they would get more free weights such as a few different barbells. I wonder if we could try and request for those someday? I haven't had any problems with any noise. I do here some footsteps from the above tenant, but that's reasonable, and maybe a very slight music noise which is easily drowned out. I also love that they have an amazon locker although we have had some packages left on our front door by the mail people, but so far no theft has occurred. There is plenty of parking everywhere. So I'm glad we don't have to worry about paying for parking. The people here also seem very nice. There are a few good spots to eat or drink around the apartment complex too which is a total plus. Overall Elan is an amazing property. Go check it out! I wish I could have given it a 5/5. read more

I've lived in Elan East Apartments for over a year now (2015-2016). Overall I do enjoy it despite a few downfalls. Here is a detailed breakdown of why I gave this place a 4 star rating: Pros: + Walking distance to metro rail, bus, & local bars/eats + Modern aesthetics: appliances, lights, & cabinets + In unit laundry, spacious closets, kitchen w/huge island + Friendly & responsive front desk & maintenance staff + Rent reminders and digests are emailed out routinely + 24/7 Gym, Club room, skee-ball, & free coffee/hot choc + Beautiful pool, grill, hammocks, & mini yoga lawn Cons: - High rent & extra fees (e.g. mandatory valet trash) - Noise: Railroad, slamming hallway doors, thin walls - Surrounded, shallow pool doesn't always get direct sun - Strict pool & club room reservation policies - Strict towing policy Overall, the pros overcame the cons for me. read more

Updating my review because some of the issues I experienced early on have been addressed: 1. Shortly after my post, they put up signs indicating that cars will be towed, and providing contact information for the towing company. 2. The next month, they started sending reminders when rent was due. Mine is set up for recurring payments through the website, but this past month, my utilities exceeded the amount set. They sent a reminder on the 4th and gave me until the end of the day to pay the gap without any extra fees. Overall, the management has been responsive to feedback and seems to continually improve the complex. Plus it's really quite beautiful! read more

Word of warning to anybody trying to lease here... DO NOT talk to the people at the call center. Request to be transferred to somebody in the actual leasing office. I recently called the number listed prominently on the website (877-580-5573) and talked to a lovely woman who told me about the wonderful units they had available at wonderful prices. It sounded great! We made an appointment to look at some units and showed up later that day. PROBLEM: When we arrived at the leasing center the employee working said "I don't know who you got your information from but it's all wrong"... turned out they wouldn't have one of the units I was quoted on ready until September, another was sold out entirely, and the only available 2 bedroom unit was $500 more per month that what I was quoted... On top of that, the lady at the desk informed us that this had happened MORE THAN ONCE! Needless today, I'm pretty mad that my partner and I left work and took a significant amount of time out of our day all for nothing. What a waste of time. The "I'm so sorry" from the nice lady working in the leasing office just didn't cut it... Get your act together, Elan East! read more

I would not choose to live somewhere owned and operated by such a predatory company, and recommend that you look elsewhere. Quick update to my original review: it's my last night in my apartment (I move out in the morning) and there is scratching, squeaking and scurrying noises coming from within my ceiling and walls. Obviously rats and/or mice in the walls. I expect to find the occasional bug in or around my unit but hearing rats in the walls at night gives me the total creeps. Ew!! read more

I haven been living here for a bit over two months and initially I was pretty happy. But these guys are crooks and they have incompetent people working in the office. There have been a lot of hard lessons learned here that have been costly. Make sure you watch out for parking because they team up with a crooked towing company that will tow its residents for extra cash. Their cash cow is the reserved covered parking that has signage difficult to see and that their agents never tell you about when you move in. So be careful! read more

Elan East is a nice building full of nice tenants. It is, however, managed by some of the most incompetent, nasty and kleptocratic people I have ever met. Do not rent here. Bring your money anywhere else, because the hidden costs and fees here will increase your rent by a quarter each month. This is not hyperbole. Elan East lives to nickel and dime its residents on top of the already exorbitant fees they charge for rent. It will stress you out to no end. You will pay for parking that is either far away or always taken, thereby forcing you to park on the street. You will pay for a litany of fees that have been designed to extract more money from you. You will be straight up lied about building maintenance, waiting days for simple maintenance that comes days or weeks later on their schedule. And, finally, your life will be consistently interrupted by a parade of fire alarms, inconsistent service, poor construction, leaks, bad maintenance and amenities that are nice, but are only open from 9AM to, per my memory, about 5:30PM when the rental office closes. All of the amenities aside from the pool are for marketing. Not for residents. This is literally the worst place I have ever lived, including college dormitories. I cannot emphasize this enough. The most frustrating part of your experience here isn't simply the bad maintenance, insane hidden fees, total lack of parking or the fact that the building is in a continual state of construction, but rather how badly the management staff treats you. Privacy is non-existent and the management will enter your apartment at any time they please. I had to continually fight to ask them for a day's notice before they entered my apartment and this concept was entirely lost on their Stasi-like management team. Greystar is a fantastic and well-respected developer. I can't seem to figure out what went wrong, however, with Elan East. I had an inkling that I had made a mistake when I found unsheathed razor blades on my balcony along with un-vaccummed floors upon move-in, but I didn't realize just how badly I had erred in signing a lease for an apartment in this building. I'd never lived in a building where the staff literally had zero concern or empathy for their residents, but Elan East has changed all that with their slum lord-esque tactics that would make a con artist blush. I beg you to consider any other building aside from this one. You can go downtown and rent for the same price as you can here once you factor in the hidden fees and live in a real luxury building. read more

Some cons living here for 4 years: Note this property made a decision not to get google fiber. FYI for tech workers/residents that prefer them. I confirmed that Platform, just down the street and newer, will have Google Fiber. Also, if you're considering an apartment on the third building facing the leasing office side, note you will have flood lights aimed at your patio and bedroom windows. If you happen to end up on the apartment on the corner towards Manor, note that at least four times after heavy raining they've had to bring in someone to fix an issue with the run-off. (Ironically, I think you can find their review of what they went through on here.) I've been here about four years and I've seen them bring in someone many, many times. They know about this problem - read her review and see how several years later they continue to rent the apt knowing about this problem.) They apparently have a problem with bird houses, and you will receive notices to take them down. If you happen to work late and don't get to your trash can in the morning when they do rounds, they'll promptly send you a note with a threat of a fee. You must be a morning person apparently to take advantage of their trash service, which I don't think you are allowed to self exclude yourself from so you have to pay regardless. When they have, and I quote directly, "an important visit", they will ask you to remove flags on balcony. You can then put your flag back up the next day, after the "important visit". If you give them the benefit of the doubt, then they did this to multiple people at the complex for this important person, or you are being singled out because your place is visible from the leasing office or because of the type of flag you had up. If you're in the third building without a closed off hallway, you may also continue to see roaches. (Again, four years now.) If you leave out a trap by your door to avoid them coming in, because it's not an indoor roach issue- which is on a regular basis - you will receive a notice to remove them. They will add you to the "pest control" list, but you it's a crap-shoot if that's enough. I have the service request from several years ago. It is obvious by now that there's ongoing roaches here, and it's obvious that for the first floor, and particularly if you're outside the double doors to a closed off hallway, they will come up to the doors. Why do I have to keep submitting a ticket, and why do I have to deal with both a voicemail and email to have me remove the traps that actually work. Again, they care more about the appearance versus solving the underlying issue. Do you think I want to spend my time dealing with roaches or have a trap outside? As of now, they've sent out several notices of bike thefts and break-ins to cars, and in a vaguely phrased email, I think, apartments. In summary - stay away from the third building and particularly facing the leasing office as they won't stop emailing you. You will usually hear from them every month in some way. It's a mommy-complex where you will continually hear what you need to stop doing to keep up appearances. read more

This apartment is not perfect (what apartment is), and it is a little on the expensive side (again, what nice apartment isn't in Austin). That being said, whatever issues we have had with the place, Grace and the rest of the people in the office have been very responsive in making things right. Our AC went out in August and they not only paid for our hotel stay (which was over $100), but also agreed to pay the difference in our electric bill should it be significantly higher than usual (it wasn't). I've lived in other similar apartments in Austin where the management didn't just not give a shit about you or your problems, they actually treated you with outright hostility if you rocked the boat (coughCrescentcough). Not so here-- the front desk folks are always really nice and helpful. They also have an excellent on-site handyman, Jason, who is simply great. Most (if not all) other apartments I've lived in have had average-to-terrible handymen (including one who plopped down on my couch and regaled me with tales of massacres he witnessed in Vietnam when he was supposed to just be fixing my tub lol), so it's really nice to have one who both knows what he is doing and is also really nice. The apartment itself is not great but is good. Again, not to pick on the Crescent, but go read some of their reviews for an idea of how bad a "luxury" apartment in Austin can be. The hallways are kept clean, dog poop that residents don't pick up is usually picked up pretty promptly and the dog poop stations are kept stocked with bags, there's a nice little dog run (and they're pretty good about keeping bully breeds out of the apartment, though SOME residents abuse the system by calling what is clearly a pitbull a "lab mix"-- that being said, after living in the Crescent where its shitty residents would let their purebred pitbulls run around offleash terrorizing my dogs, including biting one of my 15-pounders, this is not a problem here). The finishes in the apartment are nice though you can tell it was definitely thrown up a little hastily-- there are some cracks and warps and I probably wouldn't want to live here in 20 or 30 years, but it's plenty nice now. Also, in over a year at Elan East we've only had one or two roaches (and they promptly sprayed when we told them about it and we haven't seen one since), and they were of the in-search-of-water-tree-roaches, not the ones that indicate filth-- and those big suckers are just an unfortunate fact of life living in Austin, especially near a creek, especially during hot dry periods (which is when we saw them). There's also a solid little weightroom, a really nice TV/lounge area, a nice pool, and plenty of parking. In all, I'd give the apartment itself 3.5 or 4 stars (mainly just that the price doesn't quiiiite equal what you get, but that might be more of a complaint about Austin generally, honestly), but the management a full on 5 stars. I really love the location on Manor Rd, the floor plan of my apartment, and the shmedium size of the complex. I think the fee they charge for mandatory valet trash is ridiculous, but I do like the 24 hour gym and onsite dry-cleaning pick up. I've always had positive interactions with the staff as well and overall really enjoy living here. read more

I really enjoy living at Elan East. The amenities, relative safety, and newer are apartment features were all reasons I wanted to move here. My home is beautiful and I'm pleased, for the most part. Only complaint: the neighbor above me has the loudest dogs ever. I constantly hear them running around and jumping. The noise is so bad that it rattles my cabinets and shakes my wine glasses. I hear them clanging together on a daily basis. I understand that apartment living won't always be quiet, but this activity often continues past 9:00 p.m. I have to wake up every day at 5:00 a.m. for work and have slept poorly because of this. I have turned on every fan in my apartment, purchased an additional fan, slept with ear plugs, and covered my head with a pillow, and STILL hear the banging and clattering. UGH! read more

Elan East has been my best apartment experience ever. The building and grounds are immaculate, the apartments are high quality, and the staff is wonderful. The office staff are great to work with, kind, and always happy to be of assistance. Maintenance is quick and efficient. The community is quiet and fellow residents are respectful. I am very disappointed. My car has now been towed out of Elan East twice. Both times they have had a visitor pass. This is a scam and this is illegal. I have a rental with a visitor pass. I have already informed them that if my car is not returned by 4PM today legal action will be taken. read more

After leasing for 17 months I have to say that this "luxury" apartment complex is not exactly what it seems. The walls between apartments are paper thin and you can clearly hear conversations, music and the TV from your next-door neighbors and walking/toilet flushing from the tenants above. The appliances are very cheap. The ice maker spits out ice all over the floor, and that's not even on the crushed ice setting. Luckily, the fake wood flooring can handle it. The washer and dryer are extremely inefficient and take way too long to clean and dry your clothes, but at least the loud sound drowns out the noisy neighbors for a few hours. The chalky flat paint on the walls is very low quality, so don't expect them to look nice for very long especially if you have children. It seems every resident has a dog, and although poop bags are provided courtesy of the management, 95 percent of the owners don't pick up after their dog so be careful where you step. Recently they started mandatory DNA testing for your pet, so be prepared for Gestapo-like treatment immediately upon move-in. Mandatory valet trash service will cost you $30 more a month, but they often forget to take out your trash resulting in you hauling your garbage to the dumpster if you want it removed timely. The worst part of this community is the horrible onsite "management." The staff constantly misrepresented property polices on things like bike storage and clubhouse usage and then blasted residents for not following their rules. The employee turnover is very high. When I told the manager I was given wrong information by one of the staff, she responded "That's one reason why he is no longer employed here." I think the staff need more training and the manager is the one who should find another line of work. Finally, be prepared for a stiff repair bill and/or pay for new carpet when you move out, because no matter how well you take care of it, if it doesn't look brand new -- you will be charged! In all fairness, after escalating several issues to Greystar management at the north Austin community, they were resolved to my satisfaction. Also, the manager there made some reasonable accommodations on a couple of lease extensions. The other positive thing I have to say is the maintenance staff were very responsive and work orders were addressed timely. read more

We decided to pay luxury pricing for Elan East as a final hoorah before home ownership. Brand new construction beautiful apartment homes should mean no worries. Luxury prices should come with a staff who cares and caters. Instead, what we have just three months into our lease is a home that had flooded 4 times. We have a staff that does not return phone calls and emails. We have a club house that is never open except for the hours when the staff entertains potential tenants. I was told we could not even rent it out for our engagement party! The pool is wonderful but you may not entertain more than two guests. I give 2 stars for the pool and the beauty. Taking away the rest for the poor quality and service. read more

This was probably the worst apartment experience I've had, from beginning to end, and I've lived in some pretty sketchy places. I've even lived in a place that experienced a tick problem and the management there was MUCH nicer about everything than I think Elan would ever be. I don't even know where to begin. The only reason why I'm giving this place one star is because the amenities are pretty nice and it's in a good area. Upon move in I was super stoked to be living in such a nice place, but who knew our experience would be so bad! After living here for 15 months my boyfriend and I decided to move into a cheaper place before buying a house, so we could maximize our savings. Since living in this apartment we've had three rather large leaks (or floods), all of which were fixed in a timely manner and we were compensated for (but only after having to voice our concerns), however, we were left with large loud fans in our apartment for days at a time. At one point, our toilet was removed and placed into our bathtub over the weekend. A few weeks after move in, I was told that they were going to be staining the concrete floors and that I would not be able to access my apartment for a certain period of time. At the time I wasn't working your typical 9-5 schedule so I went down to the office and explained my situation, and their response was that I had been given a weeks notice (it was a 24 hour notice) and suggested that I ask my boss for the day off. Yes, let me use my coveted personal time or holiday pay so you can get the floors stained. At this point I didn't have anyone that could watch my dogs or let me stay at their place . The next day I returned from the gym to get ready for work and was not allowed into my place. We also have two dogs and they needed to be walked. I ended up having to go to work in dirty gym clothes and leave my dogs. The staff really didn't seem to care whatsoever. During our stay, clothes that we have to hang dry, never seemed to dry inside. We ended up having to dry them on our balcony, which we were also told we couldn't do. Towels remained wet for days that should have just dried in the bathroom like normal. Our clothes smelled moldy, and if they were even remotely damp, sometimes didn't fully dry at all. Upon packing up are belongings we didn't truly realize how bad the issue was until we were pulling things down that we had stored in our bathroom closet, covered in mold. Suitcases, backpacks, shoes that hung on our closet door, and clothes. All things that were never once wet, just stored. Fire Alarms. Don't get me started. Sure, there were a few times when they gave us notice that the alarms would be going off for testing, and that's totally fine, but the majority of the time they just went off, usually late at night/somewhat early in the morning, and were not shut off for a full 30 min. I know because I sat on my balcony counting the minutes. It wasn't cool. Before move in, when discussing fees with a leasing agent (who is no longer there, I'm assuming because she was awful) informed us of a $200 non refundable pet fee, per pet. The way she had explained it made it seem like our $400 would cover any damages upon move out, but we wouldn't be getting this back either way. Had I known that it wasn't going to be applied to any cleaning fees, I wouldn't have agreed to paying $400 just to keep our pets with us on top of $30 a month in pet rent (for a total of $850 for our entire stay). When we asked what the $400 went to, they explained to us that it went to keeping our pets in the apartment and the puppy poop disposal stations. You're kidding me. On top of everything, the day before we were supposed to move out, I went to the office to see what time we needed to have our keys and everything turned in by. I spoke with Corey and instead of checking what time we needed to be officially out of the apartment, he went by what day I thought we were supposed to be out (the next day) and said I could slip them through the door if it was going to be after 6pm. The next day I get a phone call saying that they needed the keys right away because we were supposed to be out yesterday (this is why I went down there in the first place). So, I hurried over and finished with everything, my boyfriend took off work just to help. We ended up being charged $71 for an extra day in the apartment and they blamed this on the way I "worded things". They also claimed they're not trying to "nickle and dime us". RIGHT. So after everything was said and done, and our stay had come to an end, we get our final statement a week or so later with a bunch of fees slapped on. Obviously we don't mind paying for our utility use, but the extra day etc. No. When we confronted them with the mold issues we were told to take it to our renters insurance. All in all, not all that glitters is gold. We are much happier in a place that isn't trying to pretend to be it's something it's not. read more

Elan East is a great community. Nice apartments and amenities in a great neighborhood walking distance to some of the best food and bars in East Austin. The office staff is always nice and helpful, and the couple of times they made mistakes they apologized and corrected quickly. I started with a 15 month lease and decided to renew because it's a great place to live. And they're super dog friendly! read more

We lived here for 3 years, since the apartment opened, and we have been very happy. We moved to a one bedroom and then to a two bedroom. The facilities are great and the location couldn't be better. I recommend living on the top floor, when we moved down to the second we could hear every time our upstairs neighbor flushed the toilet. I trained myself to think of it as a waterfall and I got over it. Overall the people in the apartment are nice, people go to community events and have a good time. The gym is great and the free fitness classes are awesome. Two notes on the pool: they give out these plastic wrist bands for access to the pool. I have NEVER seen this enforced and people invite like a school bus of children to the pool and the pool house constantly. Also people smoke IN the pool: gross. It's a non-smoking area and I've never seen anyone told off. If you lose your pool band they charge you 50 bucks. Tip: They charge you a ton if you try to get out of your lease early, even if you want to transfer to another bigger, more expensive apartment on-site, so don't do that. Also don't bother cleaning anything when you move out because they will charge you the 200 dollar "deep cleaning" fee if you don't do a good enough job, which we didn't despite my best effort. You can use Austin Compost Peddlers even f you live here, which is cool. Summary: great place to live if you can afford it! read more
