I made an appointment two weeks ago. I showed up a few minutes early and they took a regular customer for a walk-in instead of respecting my time. Had me waiting almost 20 minutes to start my pedicure while my nails/fingers soaked in an acetone wrap. No one came to remove the acetone wrap from my hands even after the pedicure service started. I didn't know you can get mild chemical burns from prolonged acetone exposure. Once my manicure service started over an hour later did they remove the acetone. My fingers have been pruned for over 24 hours. They feel like I've been swimming in a pool all day. I paid $15 extra for chrome gel, and it was already rubbing off a few hours after my appointment. Services are on the inexpensive side here compared to other salons, but you get what you pay for. read more

I have been cut here by a worker named Lisa twice- I had asked the owner not to assign me her as my nail tech about 6 months ago- I went in today and he asked her to do my nails. I should have listened to my gut and told him that I don't want her to do my nails. She was so rough on my nails. Took a chunk of skin off my nail. I should have walked away. I have spent so much money here- been a long, loyal customer and I'm so so upset. When I was leaving I showed the owner the cut and said- I just want to let you know that she cut me again. And all he said was Oh! He barely even looked at me. No concern was shown. No remorse. I'm never going back here again! I'm so upset- now I have to deal with this until it heals. Went in for a last minute nail appointment. They fit me in, we're flexible when I had to reschedule, and did a great job! It's a small space and everyone was very polite and friendly. Lily did my gel nails and I am so happy! She meticulously shaped my nails, cleaned my cuticles, and then added the French tips with precision. When one wasn't right, she would correct it. I want to share an experience I had at Elaine's Nails today. I had an appointment for a powder manicure and pedicure. They asked me to come in at 9:45 because they were busy today. When I got there - the man working said I made only an appt for a gel manicure. I said no I don't do gel. They said okay powder takes longer but okay they will do it. Then he says you didn't say pedicure we will fit you in - I said oh okay - I did say pedicure but if you can't - I'll just do the manicure. He proceeded to speak above me to the woman doing my nails in his language - then again said you didn't say pedicure. I again said it's okay - I don't need one - he again said we will for you in. He then gets the appointment book to show me what he wrote down. I finally said look - you asked me to come in at 9:45 so I could get the pedicure it's early - he said he didn't ask me to only for the gel manicure - which I didn't ask for - the employee doing my nails has done a lovely job on my nails previously - it was rushed and messy She also cut the side of my nail. She never spoke to me. I said thank you - no acknowledgement He made me so uncomfortable - I'll never go back. What a jerk. It's a nail salon - we aren't solving world peace. Even if I made a mistake - which i know what I needed and I asked for a powder manicure and pedicure. I've had a horrible week - just wanted to come in for a relaxing manicure and pedicure. They were terribly rude and unprofessional. There is a difference between quantity and quality of service when it comes to businesses. Unfortunately they advocate for the amount of NUMBERS versus providing quality customer service. I never felt so rushed before when getting my nails done. Getting a manicure or pedicure is supposed to be a fun and relaxing time. If that is what you are looking for then STAY AWAY from this place at all cost. I have never encountered such rude service. With the amount of nail places there are within the state of New York alone, it's easy to take my business elsewhere. How do they think that it is okay to rush someone that is picking a color? TERRIBLE, these people are so unprofessional, do not believe these reviews they are FAKE. I went to get my nails done and the most simple design they were unable to do. I literally asked the lady to make a simple heart and she gave me a circle. Keep in mind that she had an attitude the entire time and was rushing me to pay midway when my nails weren't even done. By the way, I am referring to the owner. If you want to go to a place where they care more about the money than the customers, come here. Never again. I'll take my money elsewhere. I have been going to a salon in Deer Park for over 20 years. They have changed ownership numerous times, but I no longer feel they are worth being the most expensive nail salon in town. I picked out a fancy style for my nails, and drove around trying to see who could do it. I walked into Elaine's. They said yes, come back in an hour. They figured out how to do it, exactly like the picture. They were all so nice, and very attentive. I found my new salon. They did a wonderful mani and pedi. Had been going here for about 6 months since I moved to the area. Typically had gotten gel manicures, the service varied at times but generally I was happy with my nails. Recently one of the staff members was being very persistent about switching over to the powder gel. I was very hesitant because I had a bad experience once before in which they only lasted 2-3 days and peeled off in chunks. Still, she was very pushy about it. I decided to try it at my next visit. I was very, very upset and disappointed that I had a similar experience. This time the powder manicure lasted about 1 week, but my nails cracked off in chunks while I was at work. This is frustrating enough (I had spent over 50 dollars on my nails and toes that day), but now I had to rush to return to the salon to get the rest of them removed. My nails looked awful. What I am most upset about is the fact that after showing them how awful my nails looked and specified multiple times it only lasted 1 week (and I was incredibly polite) they said sure we can take the polish off. They had the nerve to then charge me 13 dollars to remove the powder gel. I think that is ridiculous, embarrassing, and horrible move for their business. I paid it and did not say a word because I shouldn't have to argue for something like that. But if you promise me my manicure will last weeks and is "so much better for your nails then gel", I except at least an apology for the poor results and maybe even to have the polish removed for free. 13 dollars to remove the powder is obscene. Will not be returning. Sad to have to find a new nail salon but I expect to be treated better as a frequent customer than this. read more

Saw a few reviews on Google and decided to give it try. Was in search of sns. Elaines had such an extensive selection of colors! The salon was very clean and organized. I truly comfortable right away. Lily did a great job on my pedicure and sns manicure. The owner kept me company as we chatted about flushing queens. I will definitely return. read more

Came in to do a pedicure and when I asked if there's availability they huffed and puffed not saying a word but just ordering me after 5 minutes to sit down in the last pedicure chair and the massage machine was not even working and they set me up with a new girl... I didn't mind a new person because I understand people need to learn but she just set me up and that was it... I was in the chair for over 40 minutes with out even beginning... my feet looked like a prune and and my back hurt from sitting in a broken chair not even a pillow was offered... finally the tech sat with me and she was on her phone... I walked in because I had time and now I'm pressed for time to pick up my daughter... these places needs to be more considerate about people's time here in NYC... it's a Friday and they should have more staff and consideration... if you are too busy you should just be upfront and tell people how long is the wait... don't sit me in a chair prepped and not start the job smh I could have left and gone some where else... well let's just say it took me an hour and 30 minutes smh and my back was killing me... Today I went to this nail salon based off the reviews. It seemed like a nice place and the women on the phone was very kind. When I sat down to get my nails done it was a whole different story. The technician was very pushy about the gel powder manicure they offer when I explicitly stated I was not interested. For the rest of the manicure she was very rude. I felt like I was being repremanded for the whole hour instead of having a nice pampering experience that I was paying for. The technition nicked my cuticles with the dremal quite a few times. And my nails are just ok, they are not horrible but certainly not great. I will not be going back again. read more

There are very few great salons in the area- but I think I found my new go to spot for mani/pedi. I went to get my nails done and the staff were nice and did great work. I have a chipped toenail that I had gotten repaired by another salon (which came out weird and lumpy) so I asked them to fix it here. Annie did an AMAZING job! She took her time shaping and making I blend in as a natural nail! I will be going back. I'm a long time resident of North Babylon. I have been to many nail salons in the area. I stumbled upon a review of Elaine's and decided to give them a try. I called at 3:30pm and asked if I get a UV gel fill in today. She said come at 4:30pm. Jane the nail technician(and owner) was wonderful. She shaped my nails to look more natural. My nails look wonderful. I am very happy. I also did a spa pedicure. Another nail technician did my spa pedicure. A wonderful relaxing experience. I will be coming back. read more
