He was super sweet. Since they were closing, it was only to go order that that time which we were totally fine with. We got two crunchy tacos both beef, one shredded, one steak/cubed. They came with chips and extra bag of chips on the side as well. They have a salsa bar so I took two of the spiciest salsas to go. I wish I would've taken the other salsa just to taste them as well, but we will come back for sure! We drove home, which is about a little over five minutes away. The tacos were yummy! I liked them both. I asked my husband which one he liked better and he liked them both but he would pick the shredded beef. I honestly thought they were both delicious. I will get them both again. If I had to pick one, maybe the cubed/steak. Really friendly staff and I appreciate that. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

I came for lunch Friday afternoon around noon with 3 others and it was pretty busy as it was peak lunch time. You can tell it's a popular spot. You order at the counter first and then get a spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but it was super windy the day we came, so no one was sitting outside. I got the Alex burrito without cheese and sour cream for $13.25. Asked for a recommendation for the meat and was told their al pastor is really good, so I went with that. I liked that they call you as they're making your burrito, so you can customize it further (which kind of salsa, onions and cilantro, do you want it cut in half, etc.). As a picky eater, I really appreciated that. We all got burritos, and one friend paid an extra 3 bucks to make it wet. Chips come on the side, and you can help yourself to salsa at their fresh salsa bar. This is the first taqueria I can remember that has a mild tomato salsa without raw onion and very little cilantro. I was excited to see that finally there's a salsa I can eat. My Alex burrito was one of the best burritos I've had imo. The proportion of meat to beans to rice was perfect and the rice tasted great. The al pastor was amazing: super flavorful and smoky. I usually feel like most burritos taste about the same to me, but I definitely found myself enjoying this one more than usual, which says a lot. Also, they're generously sized here. I wasn't able to finish mine despite my best efforts and packed the last quarter to bring home for dinner. I'd like to end my review by mentioning how polite and friendly everyone was, from the guy taking our order to the guy making the food. One star off because you do have to get a key to go to a bathroom that is outside, but I lucked out and one of their extremely personable employees happened to be walking out on their break and let me in with a key. I visited on Friday, April 17th, and ordered a torta with an egg. When I got home, I discovered they hadn't added the egg. I returned to the restaurant to see if they could fix it or at least acknowledge the mistake. Instead, I was met with hostility and defensiveness. Instead of apologizing or making amends, the staff member said, "Well, I didn't charge you for it." First of all, they never even bothered to check the system. Second, they didn't offer an apology or reconciliation. If you want to keep a customer, you should provide much better customer service. This was just the first incident.  The second incident happened on Saturday, April 18th. I let the first incident go because I understand that people have off days and wanted to give them another chance. I ordered my friend a chicken quesadilla and myself a quesadilla with two meats. I asked the guy to recommend their two best-selling meats for my quesadilla. He suggested the pastor and the carne asada. When we got home, I noticed that both quesadillas were not cut. This was the first time in my life I'd been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't cut their quesadillas. After cutting them ourselves, I took the first bite of mine and immediately noticed how greasy and flavorless it was. The meat was bland and flavorless. My friend took a bite of her chicken quesadilla and immediately spit it out. She said it tasted greasy and the chicken was rubbery. I took a bite to test myself and had the same thoughts. Since I knew my friend wouldn't eat the chicken quesadilla, I drove back to the restaurant to return it. I let them know that I was in a rush because I was headed back to Coachella again for the day. I returned the quesadilla and said I would come back tomorrow (Sunday, April 19th) for a refund. I didn't have time to wait right then, but I was confident they'd make things right this time. Fast forward to Sunday, April 19th. I stopped by in the morning to process my refund or at least get something else to eat. I was met with rudeness and terrible service yet again. The guy who helped me on Saturday wasn't there, but the other guy who was there on Sunday saw and remembered me from Saturday. He basically said it wasn't his problem that I left the quesadilla and that they weren't going to give me a refund. He didn't offer any other help or solutions. I usually judge a Mexican restaurant based on its quesadillas, chips, salsa, and drinks, as these are the most basic items on the menu. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa weren't even good. The chips tasted burnt or like they were cooked in old frying oil. The only decent item on the menu was the horchata. I'm surprised they even have the audacity to open next to Sol y Luna, a phenomenal Mexican restaurant just a couple of doors down. Given the horrible quality of service and inedible food, I doubt they'll last long. I actually want people to try this place just to see how terrible it is. I need to know if my experience is unique or if it's the same across the board.
