This is one of the few restaurants in Blair. There's not much to say. The service was decent and the food was ok.

The first couple times I went here the food was great. However the service, especially in the daytime is terrible. The guy they always send up to take orders either doesnt know English or pretends he doesnt and their menu is not clear about when x dish is made at what times. When I brought my sister one of these times, we spent 40mins eating at a booth with 3 guys clearly whispering to eachother and talking sh*t about us from across the room behind the counter. They also do not have any idea how to make a regular burrito because they only send you the ingredients that go inside a tortilla but with no tortilla to at least roll yourself. But the Worst experience was ordering nachos for pickup. I got a plastic box with maybe five chips, soggy & stuck to the bottom, beneath a heavy puddle of sour cream or something it was horrible. I had to add chips from the side to try and it was awful. That was the absolute Last time ill ever go there. If a so called Mexican restaurant can not make the popular basics, it is not worth the money. read more

Service was 4 stars but the food quality was really terrible. I had Enchiladas Mexicans with cheese sauce vs enchilada sauce. The cheeses sauce is extra but it is usually so good. The chicken was so tough my knife could barely cut it and the cheese sauce was very watered down. I told the waitress, who was very nice that we just wanted to provide some feedback so they could know. She came back and told me I would have to come back when the manager was available and talk to him about it since this was his day off. I said they could share my feedback with him when they see him next. Quality here has never been an issue but lately they seem to be slipping. We did not want a discount and dis not get one. Super nice folks though. We live in Blair and will be back. Assuming they just had an off day. read more

I ate great Mexican food in Los Angeles for several decades before moving back to Nebraska, and I really crave it once in a while. I live out in the Panhandle, but I was down in the eastern part of the state for some medical appointments and I stopped by El Vallarta on a whim. I wasn't surprised to find the place packed at 6 PM, mostly with elderly diners, or to find the staff somewhat overwhelmed, but the food came out quickly, was tasty and reasonably priced. We have always loved visiting El Vallarta in Blair, it is so special to us as we had our first date there! We were nervous about bringing our baby for the first time because he LOVES to eat, all by himself of course which results in a big mess! We always make it a point to leave the table and area as we found it. When we dined in Sunday, our baby thoroughly enjoyed the rice and beans, rice was EVERYWHERE. The staff was so incredibly kind and supportive of us letting our baby have the full dining experience. I was having serious anxiety about leaving the rice all over the floor, but they truly made us feel so welcome and loved seeing the mess. The staff insisted that they will clean the floor, highchair, and wipe the table, no matter how much we insisted. This experience really just made us appreciate the family time we got at the restaurant and we are so excited to return! Thank you from this family for providing us with lunch at our favorite restaurant as well as welcoming our son :) read more

I usually get the chicken on a beach which is pieces of seasoned chicken on Spanish rice with a sauce that comes with. Absolutely amazing and very filling! I arrived at Blair on a Thursday afternoon after spending about 6 hours on the road and I was STARVING! After stopping in at a few places and checking in at the hotel I was told by a few people that I had to have dinner at El Vallarta. I sat down at the bar and was immediately greeted by the host with chips and salsa. The bartender greeted me with a smile and grabbed me a beverage. I ended up ordering the Pollo Jalisco and I was impressed upon arrival, it was a massive plate of food and I left the restaurant stuffed. It was delicious!!! Found this gem in middle of 2020 and been going there about once/month or more for family meals, even a date night. Their margaritas are really good and I'm usually not a margarita person. Their fajitas are a great size to split with partner and even have left overs. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Their Mexican rice is addictive. I'm assuming they use msg but when I've asked nobody seems to understand the question. Overall great food and atmosphere so would recommend. read more

The molcajete is probably enough food for two, and contains a variety of meats. The pork and the shrimp were my favorites but the chicken, skirt steak and bits of chorizo were also very tasty. I asked for corn tortillas--they brought out wheat tortillas automatically. The playlist is 100% in Spanish, adding to the ambiance. Personally I love the wall that's painted to look like the sea--especially in the middle of February. I took it back to exchange it and the guy there tries telling me that's the pack and the Triple Sec is in the margarita mix, replaces the beer with Triple Sec mix.. $105 bill including 20% tip.. We asked for it to go because by then we just wanted to get out of there. They brought us our bill, they charge $9 to add shrimp to a burrito mind you, they took our money and dignity.
